This is New Brakka - The Mech Fighting Capital. This is UNDERDOGS.
BROOOOO. THIS GAME IS SO FIRE!! I couldn't believe I was playing it when I opened the game the first time cause it was so good. It deserves like 20 stars instead of 5. I have a recommendation to please add multiplayer coop skirmish mode or fighting someone in a multiplayer killbox or something. It would be so cool. But even without that, it's my favorite vr game right now. It's insane. 10/10
Absolutely fantastic. Ever since the Meta Quest game reveal I've been hyped for UNDERDOGS, constantly watching trailers and waiting with anticipation for the day I got to finally try out this game, and after a year of waiting, I can confidently say it is amazing. It is MORE than I expected and I was blown away by the sheer amount of fun I've been having for quite some time now. Amazing game, without a doubt a must get for anybody considering the buy.
Top notch VR experience. This game is so awesome. It's about underground mech fighting. If you've seen the movie Real Steel with Hugh Jackman (great movie), it's like that. But mixed in with Need For Speed: Underground vibes.
It's a couple of brothers trying to work their way out of the gutter through mech fighting. If you've played any roguelikes you know the drill. Each playthrough will present you with different choices. It's a struggle early, and you'll probably lose, but with each run comes unlocks which helps future runs be powered up.
The game has super slick stylized art, like a graphic novel feel to it. Kind of like Frank Miller's Sin City vibes. Dark and gritty atmosphere, but bright and colorful art. It's a lovely mix of styles.
The action is fast and frenetic. You will be swinging your arms wildly every time you head in to another arena to do battle. Your heart rate will be up by the end.
Between each round of battle, you get 3 different moves to make around the city. You might go to a repair shop, you might go looking for trouble, you might go scrapping for mech parts, maybe go shopping, etc. Within each choice are more choices. It's like a fun choose your own adventure - and you can press your luck... should you risk more for a bigger payoff but potentially lose it all? Or should you play it safe with meager gains? Depends how badly your mech is damaged or how low your funds are getting, how desperately do you need an edge for that next fight.
The soundtrack is like uk deep dubs, and fits the atmosphere perfectly. The droning hum of the bass definitely has underground feel to it.
It's important to note, the way this game is designed is you don't have to move your legs to move your character - you use your gorilla arms to move your mech. This doesn't disconnect your brain like moving your character in other games by not using your legs. As a result, I got absolutely zero motion sickness playing this game!
Another important note, you can play this game sitting. I broke my foot 2 weeks ago and I get so much enjoyment from this VR title that makes me feel like I'm still able to be an action hero.
