Why so difficult?. I like this game, I was done all campaign in oculus rift s version.. but this New quest version is too difficult in solo/ campaign mode. The goal? ..buy extra deck ? It s sade.. please, make many difficulty modes to choose or set the older ia version (rift). Thanks, I love this Nice game.. but more playable please..
1) awfully slow AI in single player. The AI needs minutes to do actions and end the turn. especially if it pumps the mana to the hero, it looks like it wana make you suffer by doing it once every 5s. there is one level where you need to end turn in 10s while the AI takes minutes...
2) UI is totally unusable. you need to grab the handles at the table to come step by step closer to the table. this is absolutely unpractical so you can't enjoy the details of the creatures by zooming in. also because you have no options to tilt the table you need always look down which makes your neck hurt after a while. demeo is a positive example how to do it right.
3) graphic performance breaks down after the board is half full with creatures. you can't read the text of the cards anymore and the creature's looks pixeled.
conclusion: It looks like the developers spend 99% of the budget for character details and animation and 1% to develop a fun game experience.
Don’t Buy. The game cost is standard and acceptable.
But here is a list of its failures:
1. Extremely difficult solo play that is impossible unless you purchase booster packs
2. Booster packs are four cards for a buck.
3. You have to buy these to have any chance of beating the single-player
4. The game is buggy on timed matches. The computer can take any amount of time, but you get dinged even if you input all selections before the timer, and it freezes
5. The game often freezes during your play and computers (I have a 5gig cable internet connection).
6. The game will glitch halfway through a match, so your only option is to concede no matter how long you have played or how close you are to victory.
Overall, I give this half a star based on the concept alone.
Major issues with game server. I actually like this game a lot, but am frustrated because it takes 4x longer than the specified estimated wait time to be connected to another player and am repeatedly getting disconnected from the game server after I am finally matched. FIX THIS PLEASE!!!!!
Just A Fantastic Game. I am so glad they released this game for Quest. I use to play this on the original CV1. It is easy to pickup and there are good players to play against at the top levels as well. Solo and multiplayer are fun. This game is super addictive!
Solid VR title, could use some improveme. This review will be edited in a lengthy, more detailed review over time. For now, I have played for about 2 hours and barely scratched what the game has to offer.
The factions are nice, feel balanced so far, and have very different cards and feel to them. Unlocking boosters is a fun grinding experience.
The game is quite hard to master. The solo experience is challenging but will get you ready to face real players.
My main complaint comes with the MR mode. There are no reasons not to be able to play the entire game in mixed reality. That is the kind of game I play seated, on the sofa... While watching TV or keeping an eye on the dogs. MR is perfect for that! But it only happens during rounds. As soon as you finish playing a round, you're sent back in VR facing point to click menus with an environment surrounding you. It brings nothing to the game and imo, should be MR all the way.
The game also uses a UI that is point to click. The menu could easily be brought closer to the user and use a touch to click menu like Demeo for example. That means hands tracking would be an option for them to consider. Controllers are fine, but when you want to sit back, relax, play a few rounds with a cup of coffee... It simply won't do it.
With that said, the pros outweigh the cons. The cons are very specific to some use cases that may not affect most players and the overall experience is extremely enjoyable.
My favorite VR game! First off, I love card games and VR. The mechanics are simple to understand, but quite complex when exploring the huge card pool. Spells, units, forts, and champions bring an exciting element to the game and keep you busy building different type of decks. The characters and lore is excellent. Best way to describe it is a fantasy / steam punk atmosphere. Mix Reality is done well and it’s my favorite way to play the game. The sounds and music are top notch, and the animations are great.
There can be a huge skill gap in PVP. Play the game, collect more cards and slowly you will improve. I’m sure there will be reviews giving dragon front 1 star and accused it for being P2W, but the decks you start with are not terrible. Making smart decisions and having game knowledge is what will make you a top player.
There are many factions and all play very unique. The community on discord is very small, but friendly and helpful. I recommend you join it. You can ask questions, give feedback, and arrange games with other players if it’s a slow day on rank.
Needs Remaster Work. I’m a huge CCG fan and I think this game is fine overall, but the game is cranking 8 years old. Unfortunately they ported it recently but it looks so grainy and low resolution it starts to bother my eyes. Adding pass through to make it sound “modern” is a strange choice being nothing else seems to be upgraded. Shame….otherwise it’s a solid game….just be ready to be transported to 2016, which unfortunately makes things worse looking on newer tech.
Best card game ever. I love this game, one of my favorite PCVR game and now on the Quest. If you love card game it's the best 😉 Thx devs for this Quest version 👍
