COMPOUND is a randomized rogue-lite, free-roaming shooter for VR veterans. Duck and dodge around enemy fire in a tough-as-nails retro FPS with multiple locomotion options
I W A N T T H A T M I N I G U N
Great game, all I ask is multiplayer. I love this game so much, but what makes me mad is that there isn't a multiplayer mode. This game would be perfect if i could shoot another human player with a bounce shotgun. It makes me mad that these really cool guns aren't used in anyway except for singleplayer. They would be really cool concepts for multiplayer! I really hope you read this review and add a multiplayer. this game is amazing and i love it.
Great rougelike. The game itself has a lot of replayability as well as nifty retro graphics. The unlock system is great and weapons feel amazing. Nevertheless i have notice that on quest 2, there were some movement bugs such as getting out of the window. Moreover it seems i encounter a bug that all saves get corrupted. Ie i save the run and when i go back i get teleported to the level and in an instant i am back at the lobby and can't do anything, no music. Yet the runs don't last that long and can be "saved" by just turning the headset off. Overall great game despite a couple of bugs.
Simple Concept , Excellent Execution. The game just keeps on giving. Sure, it’s a simple concept of a roguelite, but the more you play, the more you unlock. The game rewards you for trying out new weapons, or using different run modifiers.
I can’t say enough good stuff about this amazing game.
If you want to take a break, simply finish whatever floor you’re on, and before going in the elevator, flip the switch. This will save your place in the current run. I’ve done this a few times and it’s worked perfectly.
One of the most fun vr titles in a while. You have not lived yet until you have taken out the chopper with a compound bow. Super fun! This game is a treat for sure. I put down vr a while ago but got back into it recently and saw this was out, and man, I'm glad I logged back on again. The compound starts you at the sewer level of this massive building in which you need to go level to level, taking out the soldiers, robots, zombies, etc. until you reach the rooftop and fight the helicopter. There are tons of cool abilities you can start with, too, and lots of really cool weapons from laser pistols to a double barrel shotgun. One of my favorite ways to play is the "old school" abilitie, where you can hold up to 16 weapons and run much faster it feels like I'm playing the old school DOOM games! Now things I would change personally. I would love if we could get in the elevator and have it actually go up to load the next level that would be so immsersive and maybe a horde mode would be amazing for this kind of game where you could choose between 3 different items in between rounds. That's all well worth the money!
Bought this a second time. I already own this on steam, I'm buying a second copy for my quest 3 standalone because it's one of the best indie games I've ever played and can't wait to see what the developers have planned next merry Christmas 🙏
Minimalism is underrated. I first learned of this game years ago and was both pleasantly surprised it was built by a single person... art, programming, everything!
At the same time it's all meat and no fat. The mechanics are snappy, the game loop is keen, and the pacing and length are perfect for vr.
One of my favorite VR games! It's like Enter the Gungeon in VR
God I love this game! I’m a grown 40 year old married man who’s played a lot of games over the years, and there’s something that this game has that has sit in my mind since I got it. It’s gotta be one of 2 things. The gameplay and aesthetic are so appealing to me. The gameplay is great. It’s a rogue-like that’s ultimately built on learning how enemies attack and how each weapon operates. Weapons are unlocked based on the amount of enemies you kill over various play-throughs. You start with a random hand gun near the entrance of each door. But you’ll find unlocked weapons in the levels. None of them feel particularly stronger than the other one. Rather, the challenge comes with understanding the advantage and disadvantages of each weapon. The SMG has a high rate of fire, and can even be dual wielded, provided your brain can comprehend reloading them both, but is not very accurate at range. Explosive weapons do lots of damage but need to be handled properly to be effective. The levels, despite being simple allow you to speed through at risk of dying, yet have just enough variety to never get old. It’s tough but fair too. I’ve never felt like the game screwed me over, but rather my own carelessness did. The other thing is the aesthetic. I’m a synth wave 80s baby’s so I love the vibe in game. Speed Black (composer) did an amazing job with the soundtrack. It’s perfect for the atmosphere and I listen to some tracks every now and then on my phone. I love it that much. The Wolfenstein-esk art style works so well. It also fits perfectly for this game. If you want a rogue-like 80s shooter with great mechanics this one’s worth every penny. Kudos to the developer and for making such a cool game.
