Best VR sports game. VR experiences need to adapt to roomscale. Understanding this is a REVOLUTION. These guys got it with this game, gathering the best of tennis, padel, pickle ball with the limitations of a room but maximizing the space.
DEVS OF THE WORLD, READ THIS. It is NOT about recreating the basketball/football/tennis/whatever in your room (which is impossible). It is about saying: hey, people have a 3x3 meters (max) space, so let's CREATE A NEW ball/racket/whatever sport with that room size in mind first. If it's not exactly like football/basketball/whatever, it doesn't matter!
This game will be remembered as the first game in history to fully understand this, creating a new game with the roomscale in mind first.
I would like to write all the good and the bad things, but writing the good things could take pages 😜. So, sorry for just going to the things to improve:
- Resolution (ironically, the name of the company) is BAD, really bad (I'm on Quest 3!). The other players are pixelated, the ball is pixelated and blurry even just 2-3 meters away really low resolution, especially considering the low complexity of the game. After playing Red Matter 2 I can't understand why this game can't do better. - FPS could also be improved. - Upper body tracking implementation would be awesome.
- Mixed Reality: well, the MR implementation is the best (and most helpful) of any VR game, 12/10. Just to solve my 1st world problems: could the game remember your court position for your room? Could it at least "optimize" the court position (centering it and making it parallel to the edges)? If not, nevermind, awesome experience anyway.
- Bug I: The ball sticks to the wall, when you apply exterior spin when close to the wall. In this situation the ball "rolls" through the wall while sort of "bouncing". It is unnatural. - Bug II: The ball can bounce against the doorknob dramatically changing its direction. - Bug III: vs bot, if you throw the ball really high, the bot makes a mess with his/her hands and is unable to return the ball, while he/she should smash. - Bug IV: Not super important, but the ball cannot stop bouncing. It makes infinite 5cm bounces on the floor, you cannot have it standing still in your racket. Eleven table tennis makes this perfectly. Doesn't affect the match, just the free time in between, but still weird.
- Super spin: I don't like it, it could be used as a dangerous sort of "glitch". Some players train and train a couple of movements with super spin and nothing else. Playing with them is not funny as they just try to exploit that super spin and breaks the experience, it doesn't feel like what this sport should be. It could create an army of "losers" just making super spin and breaking the experience. The natural spin is ok and well... NATURAL, no need to add "magic" here. A less powerful super spin could avoid it (or none at all). But that's my opinion only.
- Tournaments/Leagues: Add them! This would be wild, although I think you are already working on that.
- AI / vs bot: it could be improved a lot. I feel it is purely an AI approach instead of programatic, and it doesn't get to be too difficult. I would change it and make a lot of more levels up to almost impossible difficulty.
Good idea, clever execution. So this is basically squash, cleverly modified so you don't trash your room while playing 😄 The playspace is big enough that youre not absolutely stationary, but small enough that it fits in my designated playspace. If you are worried of room punching, you can turn on the mixed reality mode so you can tell where you are. The game plays as if you are playing tennis in a shrunk squash course, so no harsh swinging needed, but you still have to repisition based on the opponents shots, so it is still a good workout. All in all, kudos devs! I think this is my new favourite workout game.
5 stars but.... If we go by the strictest sense, there are bugs in the game that should lower it to a 4 star but the overall experience is absolutely 5 star. In my opinion, the game is a combo of pickleball, squash and maybe some tennis thrown in there. You can play the ball fast or super spinny if you want. Playing against the computer is fun but playing others is where this game really shines. It can be extremely social, with everyone laughing and just having a great time. I really enjoy the club scenes, a good doubles game can draw a crowd over to watch and I think doubles is really where the game kicks up to the next level.
Now, there are some cons. You need a decent-sized area to play in. You are going to be hitting the ball from every direction around you, so you need that space to swing. I do see desyncing issues with the computer in multiplayer. I can see a ball get out of the gap and land on the other side and get called for a double gap and it shows my ball landed and stayed in the gap. Hopefully, that is something they can fix.
On the q3, people can find it hard to hear over all the in-game sounds. I want to hear all the sounds but I want my communications to be above the in-game sounds. Sometimes when people go to serve, they grab the ball, it disappears and all of a sudden it comes flying over to your side and you never got to see the person serve. I would say I see that maybe once a game.
And of course, the biggest issue visually that I see is the avatars themselves. They move awkwardly and are very blocky and you would think everyone is a pro-level contortionist lol.
Overall, these are minor issues that I am positive as the game matures, they will get better. I think this is going to be one of the best racket games out there. It is worth every penny! I can not wait to see where this game goes!
Innovational. I’m a sport addict in real life and also play all the VR sports games.
This games is now my favourite game. The physics are pretty good. The game play is so much fun especially doubles. The set up is amazing. The community is always buzzing with loads of people all over the world.
I can’t believe how good this game is. All I can say if you don’t buy this, your missing out on something very special. A MUST BUY.
So much fun!! I got this game almost a week ago and I haven’t stopped playing it. I went from not being able to win anything to winning more than 50% of my games. The physics and mechanics of this game are spot on and the ways to train and improve are amazing. I cannot wait to see what this game does in its near future.
P.S. where u customize your character you can also change your racket and once I learned this I instantly started improving.
Can’t stop playing! Racket Club is really addictive! It’s super accessible for beginners but still offers plenty of depth for those looking to master it. The game’s concept and rules are really engaging. However, playing against the AI isn’t as much fun, they like to return everything until they make a “mistake” every once in a while. But playing with people online is a great experience with tons of different skill levels.
Best VR sports game ever! I just played this for 3 hours straight and my legs are exhausted. The club area makes it super easy to find people to play with for 2 on 2 matches, which is even better than the cool 1 on 1 matches they also have. If you are looking for a racket game, with a social aspect and friendly players, in which the physics feel amazing, you can learn spin shots and increase your skills, or even play with AI in tournaments or for practice if not feeling social - you can do no better than this game. The characters are kind of ugly and janky looking, but that is really not a big focus, and the seeming 'lower poly' nature of them probably lends to less lag (which I have not noticed any at all even with many people watching around the court). A must buy!
