Fantastic puzzler! Really enjoyed The 7th Guest, for me it’s on a par with The Room VR, another amazing puzzler. Found the puzzles to be varied and challenging but never required help or hints to solve. Enjoyed the puzzles being contained room by room so you can dip in and out of the game once each room has been solved. Very impressed with the various updates for Quest 3. Although eerie it’s never scary as such. Would highly recommend.
Love it! I really enjoyed this game. I would complete a room each session. The atmosphere was spooky enough to add that slight feeling of tension but not fear. I loved having the glimpses of real actors playing the characters. I really enjoyed the puzzles. Some parts quite easy but others really had to racking your brains until you get that "ah ha" moment. Some puzzles I knew what the goal was but assembling the pieces was not always as easy as knowing the final solution was. I never played the original but I would definately love to see more additions to this franchise in VR. Thank you Devs!
better than the original. I played the original...yeah, I'm old. Honestly, they did a fantastic job adapting the creepy house and puzzles to VR. LOVED the creepy spirit lantern. I also feel like they improved the story as well. The ending was...well, not what I was expecting (gigantic game of Spirit Sorry!) but did make slightly more sense. Atmospheric and creepy but not really all that scary, and the puzzles were pretty doable without having to resort to hints (except that bedroom where I couldn't even find the third puzzle. Hint: Look at he baby blanket!) Overall LOVED this game, well worth the money.
First VR experience. For my first VR experience the kids bought me this game. The scenes are really good. It's probably to keep me quiet as it took me a day to open the gate to the house. Now I've just got into the dining room and will be stuck a while even though I can spot things to move but don't know what to do with them. I'm not going to cheat and look up the answer on the inter-squit. As a 73 yo. I need the mental stimulation.
Fantastic game. This game has an eerie feel as you wander around the old mansion entering rooms and solving puzzles. The puzzles can take a while to work out how to solve but they are all brilliantly thought out and there is a sense of achievement when completed. There is so much to see and do that I really felt like I was exploring with my magic lamp. All in all this is a great, well thought out game with fantastic graphics. I encountered a couple of glitches where I couldn't seem to grab things but honestly this didn't really spoil my experience. I'm so glad I purchased this game.
Atmospheric Haunted House &... puzzles. I just finished my first playthrough and wow am I impressed.
First off, I've never played the original though I've heard a little about it so I wasn't completely blind going in - I knew to expect puzzles, a haunted house, and murder and whoo boy did I get all of that! I've never been great at puzzles and I admit getting frustrated easily when I'm stuck, but besides two specific ones I was able to figure the rest out by myself. Rather by frustration or stubbornness, I powered through and kept going because for me the gem isn't in the puzzle platform but the mystery of the mansion and its guests.
I am in LOVE with haunted houses. And for me, exploring the mansion was by far my favorite favorite favorite part of the game. Changing paintings, whispers in your ear, ghostly appararitions that appear as you open a door - VR is the perfect format for it! It wasn't ever scary, but the atmosphere was a marriage unease and curiosity. If you scare easy or not a big fan of horror, you'll do just fine and feel right at home. No worries of jumpscares here.
With that said, I did encounter two glitches. One bug was when a tophat makes your hand smaller (trust me, it will make sense when you get there) - the game bugged and my hand didn't return to normal size until I backed out of the game and restarted. The other was when a figurine fell and didn't respawn - I backed out of the room and reentered and viola it was back again. So not perfect, but I was so invested in the story that it didn't really bug (heh) me all too much.
The art style with real actors in the game was a marvel - there was something so breathtaking the moment the first flashback happens and you meet them arriving and get to see it happen in VR. I was visually stunned and soooo hope this is a trend that improves and keeps going in other games.
A wonderful remake!! I bought a Quest 3 just for the purpose of playing this game, when I saw the plans to release it. I was not disappointed. I love how they go more in depth with the other guests as well as Stauf himself, more so than the original game. I also enjoy how you get to see how each guest dies and by whose hand, it seemed to make more sense over the original. I only had to use 3 Stauf coins for some puzzles. The game play and atmosphere were very definitely creep. Enjoyed every minute of playing. Vertigo really nailed this.. I truly hope they have plans to resurrect the sequel to the 7th Guest which was The 11th hour. I also like that there were no chess puzzles- cause i know jack sh*t about chess lol. Highly recommend this game.
fun to play. One of my first VR games. It was fun to play and the puzzels are sometimes a challenge. You get two hints and a bypass option. It would be nice if there were more hints as sometimes things do not add up for non English speakers. Only option is than to bypass the puzzel, but that does not take you through it, it just solves it.
Welcome to my..... House. I just finished this game last night and I was hooked through the whole thing. Fantastic graphics, great puzzles and a really good spooky atmosphere without getting too scary for me (I am a bit of a wimp when it comes to scary games.) I played the original so much on my eldest brother's pc back in the 90s and I thought that if perhaps the puzzles were the same I'd still be able to remember the solutions. If you are thinking the same, don't worry, the puzzles are all new.
It's not perfect though, a couple of the puzzles are very frustrating because of the controls (looking at you coffin sliding puzzle!) but overall the biggest complaint is that I wish it was a longer game, but that's probably because I was enjoying it so much.
Maybe there's a sequel in the works? The original had a sequel so fingers crossed.
