Uncomfortable Gameplay. Excellent music and graphics, and turning this into a VR game was a no-braining - but the way it twists and turns just doesn’t translate well to VR. I found sitting down helps to keep things a little more stable, but after a few of those joystick turns and flying through the rings, I could feel my eyes spinning out of my head. Highly recommend this game on other flat screen consoles, but skip this if you’d be bothered by getting dizzy!
Amazing music. This game is excellent,I bought it 1st on Xbox (need to play with headphones) then I saw this on quest no question I had to double dip ,this was meant for VR the tunes the gameplay this is a gem of a game ,the only neg I can say is the a and b inputs need to be completely different colours because as is they are too similar, but don't let that put you off you will have a euphoric time ,one of my top 5 in my library

Poor controls. I have this game on Xbox one and absolutely love it. Unfortunately the control configuration for vr has made it very frustrating. Going from console with all abxy on the right side to this, where those buttons are split between left and right is difficult but doable. What bothers me more is that no motion controls were used. For any movement other than abxy, motion sensors should have been used, making the game not only more immersive but more user friendly and fun. Having to use a thumb stick means you're constantly needing to either move your thumb from joystick to a button on the same controller lightning fast or means you have to keep switching up between using left and right joystick which adds even more confusion to the button configuration. A quick upwards, left, or right movement with the controllers should have been implemented to achieve jumps and left/right rotation. Still recommended but I'm just very disappointed with the controls and will never achieve the scores and level progression I did on console. The game could have and deserved to be planned out better.
Unfortunately, awkward to play. I really enjoy the flatscreen version of the game on my PC. Unfortunately, the VR version does not support playing with a Bluetooth controller, it is very awkward to play with the oculus touch controllers. Is proper controller support planed for the future?
With the default controller inputs, the game is barely 3*
Simple beautiful fun. I Hadn't spent much time with Tim's music before this game since I had a young child at his popularity peak, but it's a great way to get exposed to it if you aren't already a fan. Most consistent soundtrack of any music game, pretty much every track is a banger. It's basically a rhythm game with some fzero elements thrown in, with beautiful environments and effects, and a killer soundtrack. Knowing his story, it almost feels like he still lives on through this game, his little starship forever searching for happiness.
The difficulty ramps up as you go down the list of each difficulty mode, so playing the songs in the order listed rewards you with a slow increase in difficulty.
The only negative thing about this game is there will never be more songs or a sequel. RIP Tim. Thanks for sharing your music with the world.
Tears of Joy. I have long loved Tim's music and Avicii Invector on the Ps4, so when I heard this was coming out on the Oculus Quest 2 I got really excited. That might not sound huge, but as someone who suffers from Major Depressive Disorder and Anhedonia, trust me, it really is.
I'm only about 35 minutes into playing it on the new platform, but overall I'm hugely impressed. I've only ever had issues with the free flying portions of the game, and either the new medium or your coding magicians have managed to smooth those choppy parts over.
I like that the movies were kept in that comic style, although I'm sure some would complain. And I'm sure some would complain of price, without knowing that a decent chunk goes to the Tim Bergling Foundation, which was set up (originally) to help tackle issues like mental health and suicide awareness and prevention, and has gone on to tackle additional issues like climate change and nature conservation.
I doubt I will find much wrong with this game in the near future, and look forward to thoroughly dissecting this game.
I want to enjoy this so much more. Have to be honest in saying that I didn't really know that much about AVICII but after watching the trailer and googled a bit I heard familiar songs. I like rhythm games and I figured I'd love this game. But as with other games (which they're working on) I struggled with this game with my visual impairment. Really really frustrating as it's so close to being a really enjoyable game for me. The music is great and varied, visuals on the backgrounds are really nice and as others have said feel very retro sci-fi in feel. The music is really great so far. But.... I have 2 big issues with the game personally. 1 the buttons are sometimes hard to see and the colours are often far too close so I can't easily tell button A from B. I just found it really frustrating and that threw me off so much I just lost concentration (that and an overactive baby playing didn't help so much this time). My other issue is it just feels like a lazy port. We have VR, we have motion controls. We have full movement with the oculus controllers. Unless I've missed something the quest isn't really used. For example guiding your ship.. I'd love to be able to wave my arm and move the ship. A few optional motions integrated somehow would have been nice too like waving your hand down for A and up for B...(with proper thought). It has to be possible to implement something especially for the full quest game asking price. I'd love to work with the devs and make the game more accessible to all as I think a few tweaks could make a huge difference and make the game more enjoyable to all. :) I'll happily up my rating once something is in place. I did sit on the fence for a refund on this one too but I want to give the devs a chance as the music and potentially the game is great.
