Easily Top 3 on Oculus =D. This is an AMAZING way to play platforming games - I wish more games like this existed. Game itself is full of content to entertain for hours - suuuuper fun to physically look around you for secrets and hidden coins =D
I've watched multiple videos and read countless lists of "best games on Oculus" but no mention of this (which I find almost unacceptable - because this is easily top 3 for me)
If you're reading reviews to decide whether to buy this... take my advice and just do it. Well worth the purchase - you won't be sorry :)
A platforming victory. I bought Lucky on my Xbox so that I could see if my young son would like the gameplay. When he excelled at it I went ahead and gave the VR option the same chance. This sort of pattern is bumming me out a little- because here's ANOTHER genre that is ruining console gaming for me. Once you see Lucky's Tale in VR it's almost impossible to go back to the pancake version. I've played Moss and Ven and now Lucky's Tale and VR is- surprisingly to me- such a great medium for platform games. Lucky's Tale is bright, colorful, fast, clean and joyful to behold. A really amazing showpiece for VR users to show to traditional gamers and have them understand the play mechanics as well as the extreme benefit of VR gaming. This is a ridicuously easy game to recommend to anyone who likes platforming games. You simply must buy it. Of the three I listed, this is the purest example of platforming fun; Iconic Character and by far the best immediate engagement.
Infuriating but I love it. I'm a completionist, so I'm definitely taking my time with this game. I won't turn the page unless I've completed a story mission, got at least bronze in time trial, got the hidden present, and all the red coins. Only con is that sometimes I land wrong because of the camera angle at times, but practice makes perfect. I have no idea how I would get gold as I don't see how I'll ever be fast enough. Otherwise, the graphics and ambiance is amazing. I find myself cheering when I make it to the end. Also love finding hidden coins and gems....and even getting to the highest spot on the rope. Love this game and I'm only half way through.
Good for seated VR. You don't need your hands to move at all for campaign progress, just your head. You can reach out to Lucky for a random interaction, but there's really not much else. Feels somewhat hollow as a VR experience, but very fun and charming as a game.
Awesome platformer. Top notch for what Quest is capable of. Fun for any age, simple but challenging enough to be engaging. Nostalgic vibes in the VR future. Only improvement I can suggest is camera distance options, but not a big deal at all.
Amazing, but…. The game itself is really fun but on 3-1 jumping across the pufferfish to get a red coin is almost impossible. I did it but when I lost all my lives and had to restart I almost threw my controllers across the room. But it’s still really fun
Language. I haven’t been my quest for some time now,I decided to play it with the kids today for some family fun time.well we decided to play our favorite Lucky tales the kids really enjoy this game but the strangest thing happen, the game was playing in a different language NOT English which is the choice for us.I don’t now to change or why it did that today when we always play in English! 🤦🏿♂️ 😩Any suggestion anyone??
Love this game! I downloaded this game for my grandkids to play thinking they would love it, but it’s me not them that play the game! I just love being in the middle of jumping, smashing and tail flicking in VR. At first it was too much motion for me, like a seated theme park 3D ride, but I’m more accustomed to the movement after playing a few days so it doesn’t bother me now very often. Sometimes a new level can be disorienting, and I’ve been stuck in a virtual tree and couldn’t see lucky, so he drowns falling off cliffs from time to time… but I can’t seem to stop playing!!! It’s a really fun game!
Great Game but... This is a great game, I like the game very much but I can only play it for so long before getting dizzy. I wish there was a way to control the camera, that would make things easier to handle. So if you're prone to motion sickness, maybe think about it before getting it. Because the camera movement is intense.
Fantastic game, missing real story! Colorful, beautiful, friendly, fun. It is lacking a good story but the game play is great. Lots of playtime for the price and even as a grown man it’s still quite interesting and challenging.
Perspective can’t be changed easily but it doesn’t really effect the game that much. Just would be a nice improvement.
A CHILDHOOD DREAM COME TRUE!! Usually I don't write reviews (actually, this is the first one for the Oculus...) But it will be a"crime" no to do it on this occasion... If you are an "OLD dinosaur gamer" like myself, you will fall in 💜 with this amazing game. It's a combination of Crash bandicoot, Bubsy, Super Mario Rayman, and Spyro wrapped in a VR atmosphere... The only"bad" thing I can write about is the difficulty ( could be a little bit harder from my point of view) and that the game is a little bit too short... Besides that , everything is PERFECT!! I had the time of my life playing it... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!💪🤙🎮
Great port of a classic VR title, but…. If you’re looking for a VR platformer, Lucky’s Tale is your safest bet. The port is flawless and offers some visual improvements over the original. The only thing missing are achievements. I hope the developers add them. I would give it a five star rating then.
Edit: @Devs Thank you for adding achievements, I give five stars now. ;)
Great game. This is a very nice and friendly game with nice, friendly and funny enemies and many other characters. The levels are exciting and beautiful. There are only two annoying things in the game. Unfortunately, every time you start the game, you have to look in the book where you were last. The viewing direction cannot be changed with the controller, so if you want to look around, you have to rotate the chair.
Get into the TV. Well, this game made me feel like i was playing Super NES back in the days, and suddenly, a good fairy made me enter the screen. Out of the blue, i'm no more watching, but a part of the scenary. Great characters, good gameplay. Takes a little time to adapt to the dizziness of camera's moves, but then, it's all pleasure !
My husband say oh no to Oculus because of the price but after he tried this lovely and totally amazing game he say we go and by it NOW☺️😍 so it was because of this game we now have the most wow feeling at home❤️ thanx
Great game and all, but something's up. Hear me out. It is a great game to play because it's an actual platformer in a VR setting. But I feel the developers have missed an opportunity with this game on the Quest. Number one, the controls. All actions are set the same way for both controllers. Maybe have the right controller joystick be your camera like it does on any other controller on a console and just have the left one for moving Lucky. Number two, bugged areas. Some of the areas that you can go to won't let you. And you even pass through some objects, which you shouldn't and it screws you up because you're just trying to explore the area you're in. Anyway, I love playing this game. It's worth putting time into, but be careful and don't explore too much around some certain areas.
