Awesome. If you like Wipeout then this is it. My younger brother who's 54, has been a Wipeout fan from its original version on the Sony Ps1 days. He never like any of the clones of it. So I let him have my Quest over the weekend, while I'm working.
Got my Quest back and now he agrees with me that this game is better than Wipeout.
Outstanding gameplay. I was raised here in Orlando and one of my favorite rides as a child was "space mountain" it was a roller coaster in the dark with flashing multicolored lights and many twists, turns and dips. This is very similar, only u can control the pod and every now and then u leave the track! The music sounds like nine inch nails. Very fun.
Fabulous. I love this game i came from the ps1 generation i loved wipeout and always dreamed of actually flying something this futuristic and vr fabulous 👩🚀
This game feels so fun to play! I love it. It doesn't try to be like mario kart, it does its own thing and its great. The tracks are amazing, long and interesting. The game is like eye candy as you jump over jumps, go through colorful tunnels, avoid obstacles, and try to put THE BOSS in his place. Marvelous game, especially for the price.
Disabled Wipeout clone. Difficulty is beyond frustration. No real feel for speed. Absolutly mediocre gameplay. Buy it when its for sale like a 5er. Not worth your money and time.
Wipedout. I love this game i came from the ps1 generation i loved wipeout and always dreamed of actually flying something this futuristic and vr fabulous 👩🚀
Redline. This is great, exactly the sci-fi anime racing in space I crave! I wish there were more! The only thing that would make it better would be online play. For the price though it's solid as is.
Controls feel weird. I don’t like steering with one hand and accelerating with the other. The ability to move around the controls across controllers would be awesome. I feel that both triggers should accelerate and grips should be breaks
Motion controls are worth the effort. For the most immersive experience i recommend motion controls. it takes some time to get used to but there’s a logic to it and it becomes intuitive, making you feel one with the machine. It makes the game harder but much more fun.
Nice, but... I enjoy this game, but I have to admit the experience is underwhelming. The gameplay is fast-paced, the driving enjoyable, and overall, this is a well executed fantasy kart game with a nice coat of Wipeout/F-zero on it. Depending on your taste, I would also say the music is enjoyable and fits the action and the world perfectly.
So, what's the problem ?
First, the presentation of the game is hideous. The menus are in the worst shade of orange and look like they have been made on MS paint. This is the first time I ever complained on such a topic, so I think it is telling how much I find it distracting.
Second, the game lacks any kind of atmosphere or in game world to immerse yourself within. No voiceovers, No "3,2,1 go" at the start of a race, no transitions between levels in career mode (not even a simple loading screen. Just black). This makes it a bland experience.
The way ships are unlocked is also extremely frustrating. Instead of starting the game with a small selection of ships to accommodate your playi style (Acceleration, speed, handling and so on), you start with ONE ship, and unlock new ones after finishing a career more milestone. The order is preset, and the first few ships feels very specialized, not balanced.
Finally, the game doesn't seems to know what it wants to be. Fantasy kart game with weapons or not ? Some races allows for weapons, other not. Races without weapons feels they are missing something, and do not provide you with any mechanic to come back in the race if you are behind everyone.
All in all, this game feels like a beta, which is a shame. Because when it comes down to the feeling the races gives you when driving, this game is awesome. This is why I won't go below 3 stars, as this is by no mean a bad game. It just feels unfinished.
Positives : - Excellent driving sensations. - Nice music - Good ship and race design
Negatives : - Menus are horrible - No voiceovers - Not enough ships to select from the get go. - Not enough extra-fluff
Great game. I am enjoying this game a ton after finally accustoming myself. First few nights I almost vomited from the motion. My only complaint is lack of in game freedom. I would like to just stop competing and just ride around an explore the course. Also why not let me turn around and go backwards? Maybe when I get to higher levels I will be able to do that type of stuff. But overall I am very satisfied.
Exactly what VR needs. I find it a pretty fun mindless activity, and the price is right. But if someone asked my opinion on how this good game could be improved:
• Give access to more pod racers at first • Introduce acceleration as a pod feature • Give boosters to be used sparingly to get back to speed • Increase top speed in a side race so we could go breakneck if we wanted • Make weapons easier to aim and use/more variety of weapons (on the combat missions) • GIVE SOUND OPTIONS so we can turn the music down but not off, and decrease the verbal warning audio. • Introduce hidden shortcuts in some tracks
