Hey, you! Welcome to the island of Pequena! 🏝️ Dead Man's Quest is a narrative hand-tracking and puzzle short story and technical demonstration, lovingly wrapped in a light-hearted and quirky pirate theme 🏴☠️!
With its carefree, comical, and visually exaggerated style, Dead Man's Quest features colorful characters, a perky parrot 🦜 and quippy narrated dialogue. With hand-tracking controls, you embody an... well, unusual character in a precarious situation as you wake up in a holding cell in the Fort. Did we mention you need to solve some puzzles to escape?
Dead Man's Quest is the result of the developers' exploration into hand-tracking technologies and their love for games such as “Monkey Island” and movies such as “Life of Brian”. The experience is not intended as a full game. We hope you enjoy it!
Note that the experience is meant to be played in one go, no save system is currently in place. Controller support is optional as desired.
*** Dead Man's Quest does not support Quest 1 headsets ***
Finally. This is what I've been waiting to see happen with VR; I'm a lifelong P&C game player, and I really, really, really hope this becomes a full-length adventure.
An absolute masterpiece. This amazed me. Well voiced characters. Excellent writing that is actually amusing and touching. Puzzles that are fun, and sometimes challenging. It worked beautifully with hand tracking. It is reminiscent of the old point-and-click adventures, like the Monkey Island series.
I will be purchasing the full release, whenever that may be. This is a “can’t miss” vr experience!
A modern point-and-click adventure. You had me at quippy dialogue.
It is a fun demo, worth trying out. I would love to see it evolve into a full, long game.
Hand tracking works well. The "exit posession" gesture I had some problem getting right, though. The game can be played with controllers too, so that's great.
Puzzles have a good balance. The globe took me the longest to solve. You always have a, more or less, helpful parrot to assist you.
Beautiful game. Absolutely amazing art style, beautifully written characters, fun puzzles, amazing use of hand tracking, and very good voice acting even though there are only 4 voice actors in total! Can’t wait for the full game to release!
Dead Man’s quest. It was a very fun and exciting game to get in to I really enjoyed possessing all the people and working out all the puzzles. I would love to see more levels and puzzles like after when the little girl goes into secret tunnel I would love to see what happens after that but overall it’s a wonderful game to play if you like puzzles
I enjoyed it! A really good game if you give it a chance. The start is a bit bumpy, as there's no traditional tutorial. You're thrown in and the story takes up quite a lot of time, requiring some patience. The game only really picks up as you progress. Once you start playing and puzzling, it's fun. Clever puzzles, good graphics, well-made characters - it indeed reminds me of the good old days of point-and-click adventures. Handtracking is good (gesture control fits), but I prefer the controllers and would like more suitable control for them.
All in all, very well done, but also very short (it's a demo). And there's no save option.
Please keep working on it. Try it if you like story driven puzzles.
Fun short pirate demo w/ puzzles. Enjoyed that the game used hand tracking. Puzzles were fun and very good visuals. Dialogue and themes more adult oriented. Left me wanting to play more. Hope game gets a full game release in the future.
