potential is there for greatness. I know this is based on their previous mobile phone pirate series and many of the design choices and limitations stem from there, like most of the gameplay is really going through 2D menus. But this is VR and we want more. Like physically harboring, walking to the shops, taverns, playing darts, dice, drinking competitions etc. VR is presence after all, make it worth it. It's a real big world and it's enjoyable to simply sail at will but realistically to actually progress in the game you'll just use fast travel "sail to" option and the main gameplay loop is really spent on 2D menus. Much potential, hopefully we get more detailed, proper VR mechanics and environments. I want to actually cut sunken cargo with a knife, swim with actual swimming motion, drink a bottle of rum choose my outfit, have a parrot etc

Alan. Another first class game from HNG. Fun sailing mechanics, a nice big open world, I can just enjoy the sailing for hours, or slowly progress by upgrading my ship and fleet and island. Good depth with plenty to do. I love the graphics and feel totally immersed. You can hand to hand fight, ship duel pirates, battle or commandeer merchant ships. Truly an evolution of pirates gold. I highly recommend snapping this up early. Can't wait to see where they take this game from here, its already a great game.

Astonishing!! Give Devs your money now! I buy lots of games and always check the new releases each week, but I somehow almost missed this gem (marketing?) that perfectly balances pirate ship battles, building your town, managing resources and crew, and ship upgrades. From exploring caves to diving into the depths of the ocean teeming with life to search for treasure, or battling between ships and forts, I marvel at the sights and sounds the devs thoughtfully created and I can't believe it's only Early Access!! The details in things like the rainstorm slowly brewing in the distance into a huge thunderstorm, the ocean filled with schools of fish and the visual of a ship sinking and slowly disappearing truly immerse me in the game. There are small issues like the "health" bars of the ship may cover a ship I'm firing at if I'm looking forward, shooting a ship from the aft cannons, but I'm confident these miniscule issues will be fixed. As for the buying, trading, etc, it took me a little while to figure things out, but there's so much to do. I can't stop playing this game!!There's SO MANY Early Access games that should have waited a few months before releasing it, but this game is almost perfect and I can't wait to see the new stuff they're talking about adding and of course multiplayer! 🤯 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great game, but not the most immersive. The core game loop is very satisfying and it’s already well worth the money. The water and ship look very decent and it runs pretty smoothly. Ship combat is great as well.The game has some shortcomings, though. The main one being that it made me spent the vast majority of my time in 2D menus buying and selling items. While I was quite hooked on it, it doesn’t make a lot of sense for a VR game.Some feedback:- Move the incentives from spending time in 2D menus to instead spend more time sailing, fighting battles, and exploring new areas. Maybe by increasing the rewards for diving, ship wrecks, caves, and possibly by automating more of the trading. Assigning ships to do the work for me perhaps.- Being able to climb the ship would be great (and sit in the crows nest)- Jump from one ship to another, and swim inside the water would be greatSmaller things:- Speeding up sailing should be available in 1st person view as well- Repairing ships in the fleet without having to switch and move goods from one to the next would be great - Status bar of my own ship sometimes gets in the way during combatI‘m enjoying the game a lot and even if it stays exactly as it is it‘s well worth it. The many 2D menu interactions are something to be aware of before buying it.

THE Pirate VR game to buy! This game is just awesome! You can definitely see the Sid Meier’s Pirates influence, so if you enjoyed that game, pick this one up. The ship combat takes some getting used to, but just sailing around and exploring, or diving wrecks add a great depth to the game. It’s well designed and a straight up deal at this price. The main menu also lists the upcoming updates hand to hand combat, etc. It looked good and I was curious, but I got much more game than I expected!
