Fantastic AR experience! Well engineered and thought out! As a beginner, I'm very excited at how well this works with our regular piano, which had been idle for too long. Makes learning much more interesting and challenging. I'm looking forward to how this progresses, particularly with the beginner lessons. I'm hoping to see right hand and left hand exercises added soon. So well done -- I would gladly pay for it!
Seamless, works insanely well. Connected my MIDI keyboard to my Windows laptop and installed the companion app and the relevant Yamaha MIDI drivers for my keyboard. Worked right away. Smooth user experience and very easy to use. I tried the other piano options as well (Virtual Piano and Real Piano) and they worked equally well, but the MIDI option was my favorite. Highly recommended.
Mind = Blown. Just found this. When I first got my quest (about 2-3 yrs-ago) I wondered if one could play piano in VR or with an actual piano (since hand tracking was a thing.) Discovered this and OH MY GOSH!!! This is epic! And it works a lot better than I would've expected out of a beta. Had a little trouble at first with uploading custom songs, but a quick look through of the "questions" channel inside the discord server, and a download from the website and I was all good. Thank you so much for making this!
A new level. This is a great app for all learning stages of piano. Engaging, intuitive and fun. I really like the overview presentation of the midi file and look forward to developments which incoporate the color selection Dom has made into the waterfall learn mode.
Better than sheet music. Experienced amateur pianist here. Instant sense of how a song fits on the keyboard, how it sounds, and when I hit a wrong note. Better than sheet music. Metronome/Beatsaber-like experience is both fun and discourages bad habits like slowing down on hard parts or playing the note wrong over and over because you misread the sheet. This is the ONLY way to sight-read music. This app is awesome as it is, but I have suggestions.
Turn on note names and fingering labels and autoplay. Turn off the input stopper thing. This should be the default settings.
Note recognition didn't work with my real piano at all. I detected wrong notes myself by ear when my real piano didn't sound like the midi.
A mode with working note recognition (audio only) and hides the handtracking hands (unless doing menu gestures) so I see my real hands would be AMAZING. In fact, if I could run this game menu with my controllers that mode would be fine. Handracking is a hindrance if it isn't working perfect, the option should be available shut that junk off. Maybe one day it will work well enough to depend on.
A shared library of uploaded songs (within the headset app) would reduce the need for us all to duplicate effort of song creation. Just browse and download, or upload to share after making something new and awesome. Simple rating system for contributions.
A full-mp3 audio experience would be great too. Like Beatsaber. Instead of hearing a midi when you play well, you could hear a real recording of a pro on a concert grand, or you could hear the duet part and the drums or whatever. The more real-music and game-ified this is, the more compelling it will be.
Excellent learning piano for everyone. First, thank you developers for this VR piano, it is joyful to learn and to play. 🤟🤩✌️.
I don't play piano, but with this app I am going to enjoy playing and learning at the same time. Please continue to add more lessons, more options. This is a wonderful piano app for beginners to enjoy. Thank you.
Lets you play above your level. Very impressive software, but sorely needs logic to skip or remap notes that are outside the range of the selected piano size.
The future of music education. I have minimal piano training, and within minutes I was playing pieces I never thought I would have the time or the training to play. This is the future of music education. I cannot wait to see more instruments adapt this technology in creative ways.
Great learning tool. We are using with a traditional piano a 73 key zender- with a re-jig it fits! Realise its only funds that will bring more modern songs so everyone should give this a real push. its solid and will only get better. Myself and Wife and Son are all using it! wish the developer all the best.!
Very good app with huge potential. Magic Keys is an extraordinarily helpful tool for learning new pieces of music or even for getting better with the piano in general. At the moment, the app contains everything necessary to use the app, but there is still enormous potential that will hopefully be exploited over time.
Exciting development for AR! The potential for learning piano through AR is huge, and this app takes it in a really exciting direction. The interface is super intuitive, and with my keyboard connected through a MIDI cable the notes were recognized very quickly and accurately. I love the piano roll map of the song's form, and the chord trainer game that gives you a chord and you can play it in any inversion. I had some trouble calibrating the keyboard but once I got it it was fine.
First of its kind! I gotta tell you: the idea is incredible and it is astonishing how well everything works already. I am currently learning to play the piano and this will be my new companion! 100% recommended.
