No Hands When Playing with friends. My friend and I both purchased this game to play. I played it alone against the AI several times before my friend installed his copy. We both have oculus quest 2 headsets with touch, but when we tried to play against each other I didnt have any hands and was unable to move the chess pieces. If this can be fixed I will change my rating for this software.
Garbage; pls read before buying. This game is a complete garbage, if you expect to have a good experience playing chess here - this game is not for you, PLEASE don't waste your money.
1) One time during the matchmaking, the gamed coupled me .. with myself! Can you imagine this?
2) The clock is completely broken - it doesn't start after the first white's move, it starts only after both players made at least one move for some reason. Devs, has any one of you actually played any chess?
3) The game allows players to move away from the game. This does make sense ONLY in the daily time control, not for 5 min blitz! As a result you start 5 min game, make the first move, and see that your opponent just went away (see the point 2), the time control doesn't start after your first move). You wait for him for 10 minutes, and he doesn't show up. When you enter the app later in the day, what do you see? Right, you lost, because at some point your opponent went back, made a move, and by doing this started a timer, so you've lost on time. I actually haven't seen anything dumber than that.
4) The options for time controls are RIDICULUOUS. One of them is (seriously) 30min with increments! Again, devs, has any one of you actually played any chess, like for once in your life?
5) As you're not going to enjoy the sensible chess playing here, you would probably come here for the athmosphere, and just have a good time moving pieces around, right? Wrong! Moving of the pieces does not feel natural at all - your take a piece, put it on the square where you want to go, then the piece SUDDENLY goes back to initial square, and then slooooooowly, in 2-3 seconds moes to the destination square. This may sound minor, but is annoying AF, and ruins any immersion.
6) Grim reaper sitting in front of you. Screaming in your face when the game ends. In the chess game. Seriously?
7) Not sure who designed their ELO system, but probably someone.. not very knowledgeable about how it works. There is a player with 20000+ ELO (start=1200)
Can't get it to work. What a waste of money. It takes forever to download and once I got it installed it would not work--could hear audio but blank screen. Then I uninstalled and tried it again. After waiting a second lifetime for it to download, it would not install at all. I got some kind of error about virus protection blocking it. That is bogus, because I have serveral other programs that installed without any trouble. So I rebooted and tried to reinstall it. Even though I already had it downloaded, it started to download again! Ridiculous! Why would it download again? What a waste of time, I'm requesting a refund.
Great Chess Game BUT.... Great Game as everyone seems to agree. BUT, I found out after buying it on Oculus store, that the Steam Store version as many DLCs environement and piece sets not available on this version. Sadly i'm thinking of buying it over again on Steam. Not cool. 4 stars but worth 5 if not of the DLC problem.
Great Game! I've had a lot of fun exploring all the enviroments, working my way up through the AI levels, and playing against other people. I just wish there was some kind of voice communication with the other player (and of course a mute button) Anyways, this game is amazing for a quick game after a stressed out day to calm your nerves

GREAT CHESS GAME...A few suggestions. This is far and away the best chess game I have ever played on the computer and there have been many. The ony real problem that I ran into initially was when first starting the game, I was eye-level with the board. I used the re-align feature in the oculus menu area and that fixed the problem (right touch controller menu button and select the arrow). It would be nice to be able to adjust the seat height. Playing one's own music would be a nice feature too, though this of course can be improvised. I don't like the way, when moving a piece, the board grips the piece and slowly moves it into place for you, as if to say, "I'll take it from here." It denies one the finality of a satifying "PLUNK" in placing a piece on the board. Still, I could hardly give it less than five stars for something so trivial as that. Being able to throw any playing piece into the face of The Grim Reaper before it drifts back into positin gave me measure of anger management, which alone was worth an additional star.
