it worked at first but now its broken. i used it as soon as i bought and installed this software but then the next day after using it a bit it stopped working and i cant seem to fix it at all ive tried restarting everything uninstalling and reinstalling but nothing seemed to work
Junk. Worked for literally 2 hours, just enough time to be disqualified for a refund. Now when I start it the UI glitches and the buttons are non-responsive. Performed a reinstall and reboot; same results. Had potential and then bam. Lame.
Vr videos of any kind and resolution. Great video player, a lot of options, it manage to play any kind of video with a very high depth of settings and enhancement. Good job indeed. (8k videos supported)
Fails to play any videos. I cant play any videos with this.. Yet I have all codecs installed.. Use MPC and MadVR etc, all those work fine. Some mp4 play, but anything else cannot due to being inside a MKV container. This program is either unable to access codecs or is missing its own.. unsure..
Exceptional. Whirligig now has a hue slider! This video player is as near-perfect as they come. The developer is a true believer in what he is doing, intends to evolve Whirligig beyond what it is today. What it is today is definately worth what little money he asks for it. You won't regret buying it.
Return of the King. Finally, Whirligig becomes the best VR player again with recent update with better mediainfo support. So why it's not 5 stars? Because it's only available at steam for now.
currently doesnt work on beta channel. Switched to the beta channel and it doesnt work at all, even the mouse cant click anything, the cursor moves but thats all, every body does nothing, even after a complete reinstall
Cannot save any settings. Waste of money. Change settings to fit a format only to be unable to reopen the player without deleting the roaming file and starting over.
i cant hear my films?. Hi this is great app for everything i have stored to watch. so easy and interective for your own personal experience but i am really struggling to get sound to work. i have mkv's 3d an 4k films all play and look amazing but no sound. i click the audio file an its says access denied any ideas? oh the sound workd great in other rooms just not my own.
Just purchased & installed A+++. I just purchased and installed this app for my Rift S. After checking out the settings, I loaded a 3D movie and it was excellent! The rooms (theaters, etc) are cool also. Sound was great, image was crisp and clear. No issues at all. Looking forward to using this as my go-to for all movies. Have not tried images yet. 3D works well for sure.
Plays every video format (nearly). Had problems with other players with some mkv and mp4 formats like H265 codec, 12bit videos and so on. But this one plays every video i tested ! Up to 3840x1080 with 12bit H265 YUV420 ! Lot of settings and BEST is you can save presets for different configurations!
Only playing ISO files are missimg :-) GREAT WORK !!!! Price is verry good for a perfect player!!
Frustratingly close to excellence. Whirligig is wondrously compatible, fast performing and feature-rich video player. It has the potential to be the superior choice for playing any video content. It plays anything you throw at it, and then some. It's also exceedingly customisable, offering rare features like in-app supersampling, anti-aliasing and quality settings.
It is such a shame, then, that the UX and User Journey is beyond atrocious. It feels like an absolute mess to navigate because it *is* an absolute mess of what I imagine to be infinite plates of spaghetti code; Features hide amongst inexplicable sliders and valuable options are spread across a nightmarish collection of screens, tabs, menus and popups. Whirligig's final act of war against the user experience commits the original sin of ignoring the industry-standard language of video in VR, many of which are likely to confuse anyone. Oh, and there are no tool-tips.
Whirligig is rarely, if ever, a joy to operate as a result of these flaws in the design.
It is such a shame. Aside from the abysmal frontend, Whirligig shines in almost every other aspect. It is one hell of a video player. I believe it could be a contender for market leader if (and this is a big if) a proper UX overhaul/redesign were prioritised above all else.
As it stands, Whirligig is frustratingly close to excellence. I wish the developer all the best.
