Glad I bought it ! Loving this! Only on track one as I just tested it and it feels like it could be real and the future looks bright for it! One thing I would change is the time thing ! I think as you start it should not rush you as I feel you lose the concept of the game ( but I’m not making this I’m just a user!) crawling as it’s known is about getting there and not about time more technically challenging! Any who it’s is a great game and please keep going with it!
Two stars for potential. This is a great concept for a VR racer but in its current form it’s way too rough to be enjoyable.
The problems begin the moment you get in the driver’s seat and look around. You’re only tracked in 3DOF. I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a game on the 6DOF Quest that tracks in 3DOF, it’s extraordinarily odd. It feels like a game ported from an old 3DOF headset like an Oculus Go or Samsung Gear VR.
Mapping the gas and brake to the left analog stick would be fine if you had the option to remap the functions to a more standard location, like the right and left triggers. Speaking of options, there are only two. One that switches all sounds off, and another that’s an icon of squiggly tire treads. I don’t know what the tire tread icon does and I don’t really care at this point. I also don’t understand why there’s a button to mute ALL sounds, when I selected it I assumed it would just silence the music.
The worst part is that it’s just awful to drive. It doesn’t feel even remotely realistic.
And finally the graphics don’t look that great in the headset. The draw distance is very close and it has the overall appearance of a game from decades ago.
I don’t know why this is getting glowing reviews. I’m glad other people are enjoying it though.
