Sixty years after John F. Kennedy’s assassination, travel back to 1963 and explore the events that shook the world in this 40-minute virtual reality documentary.
Immersed in iconic archival films and photos remastered in 3D and projected onto the historic sites, this documentary offers an extraordinary understanding of history.
Across five chapters narrated by the last living witnesses, journalists and investigators of the case, this documentary is a historically-accurate record of the events.
Incredible work - amazing experience. This is is so good - incredibly high production values creating a truly compelling experience that presents history in a genuinely new and overwhelmingly powerful way. I can't understand why this is consigned to the app lab when it runs flawlessly and feels so beautifully made, outclassing every pseudo VR 360 documentary with ease, utilising some truly novel visual tricks that bring a fading event - previously remembered only in photographs - to true experienceable life. Chills from start to finish. Should come bundled with every Quest.
Absolutely fantastic experience. This is the future of documentaries. We are transported in history in a totally unique way. TARGO team is brillant. I enjoyed every minute and want more experiences like that. It definitely worth the money. I highly recommend it to anyone.
Worth the investment! This VR documentary is really well done. I felt like I was there in Dallas on that fateful day and at the same time that I was seeing the historical events from a contemporary perspective with the more recent witness interviews. That's the power of virtual reality. The creators have done a great job using the medium in a way that's creative, informative, and different. JFK Memento would be a great piece to show someone who doesn't know anything about the story. Really it is helpful for anyone to see, whether you are familiar with the events or not.
A unique and captivating experience. This app is a great example of immersive documentary storytelling. An impressive blend of archival footage with game engine environments really takes you to this momentous time and place. Should be on the main store (not just AppLab) so more people can find it.
Top-notch unique VR experience. I'm not a history buff. And I don't pay for many VR apps. But, I heard someone talk about the VR aspects of JFK Memento, and I was sold. I bought the app, and was not disappointed. As other reviews mention, they did an incredible job turning what otherwise would be a dry documentary into something stunning. It felt like you were actually there in the Texas Schoolbook Depository in 1963, actually in the police headquarters, and so forth. I'm going to have to watch it again because the first time I was so focused on the VR aspects that I didn't concentrate much on the content. I think the only thing I would add is a pause button (you can, but the pop-up is there and the rest darkens, so you lose the immersion).
Worth the price of admission! Reflecting on this significant moment from my youth, I delved into the intricate tapestry of historical narratives woven by government accounts, scholarly perspectives, and conspiracy theories. This piece serves as a captivating vertical slice of an event that potentially marked the loss of innocence for the United States. Meticulously documented and masterfully executed, it immerses the audience in a novel medium – virtual reality. The experience is not only enlightening but also a testament to the evolving landscape of storytelling, making it a truly worthwhile investment for anyone seeking a profound exploration of the past.
An Amazing, Immersive Experience! Targo have produced an absolute masterpiece here. This experience really makes you feel like you're there, standing in the real places that were so vital during the JFK assassination. They have blended multiple approaches to really bring out the best in VR and have somehow managed to bring historical footage to life like never before. Narrative driven, immersive experiences like this one really are the future of storytelling, and this is an absolute must experience for anyone with even a small amount of interest in historical events like this.
Literally putting things in perspective. We’ve all probably heard about JFK’s assassination, seen bits of archive footages in various documentaries here and there, but this is…different! They put you right there on the sidewalk as the Kennedys motorcade passes by, at the vantage point of the shooter in a surprising mix of re-situated footages and pictures through a recreated Dallas. It is truly immersive and tense. As we follow the events before and after the assassination through the eyes of multiple viewpoints (a journalist, an onlooker at the motorcade, a police investigator and more) I got a spatial and temporal understanding of that event that was captivating and chilling. They need to make more of these !
Fascinating and informative film. This 6DoF documentary was quite interesting from a thematic perspective as well as technological. They do a great job at taking old black and white photographs and projecting them into a 3D scene. It’s a mix of many techniques and it comes together quite well.
Really well done, also a big kudos for adding chapters to allow for replay-ability without needing to start over from the start.

Stunning experience. I've never seen something like that <3
Very immersive VR presentation. I watched this Meta produced VR180 video about the JFK assassination the other night. I wish more videos had this level of production value. A VR documentary can do things that a traditional 2D doc can’t. They used CG to recreate the intersection/buildings where JFK was shot…all presented in proper scale so you feel like you are standing there on the sidewalk watching the motorcade. They then took actual videos and photographs from that moment and projection mapped them onto the CG geometry. So cool! They also took film footage shot from that day and converted it to stereo-3D. Lastly, they shot video testimonials of witnesses from that day and composited them into a CG room where the camera and lights could focus on objects in the room (such as photographs) as the person talked. Overall, A+ for presentation and immersion. I hope the team behind this video makes more VR180 content.
