Currently way too difficult to control. I love racing games and I am very good at Wipeout and other racing games and flight sims.
At first I was amazed by this game as I found the controls felt straight forward and intuitive at first, however later on as I progressed through the game I found it way to hard controlling the airship to the standard of smooth racing I'm used to in other futuristic racing games.
Please note there are no weapons and combat in this racing game and this is not by chance - it would be simply too difficult to control under the current controls layout!
Having to fly an airship through tunnels instead of hovering like in Wipeout adds on a level of difficulty which sacrifices the possibility of combat, and this type of racer really needs combat!
I'm sure Wipeout developer's experimented at the time and realized that flight would be too difficult and went along with 'hovering racers' instead of 'flying racers'
I feel these developer's have taken on a project that is way above their capabilities. There have been many updates but unfortunately I personally feel no difference the racing remaining too difficult in my opinion
I do wish these developer's success in the future and I would suggest the developer's try to simply make a proper futuristic racer for the Quest 2 without reinventing the wheel, because currently this game is unfinished and broken game. Two stars from me.🌟🌟
Polished VR racer, thrilling and addicti. Game is very polished graphically and the controls are immersive and tight. There is a learning curve but it is short. This is in my top 5 vr games ever, great work devs.
Near impossible to play. It’s easier to pilot a helicopter in real life than it is to try to play this game. All axis movement is on the right controller making it almost impossible to control. The game looks fantastic but the controls need splitting over both controllers I think. I can’t recommend in its current state sadly. Lots of potential but disappointing at present. :/
F-Zero in Virtual Reality. Omega Pilot is a virtual reality racing game that reminds me very much of the old school Super Nintendo game F-Zero. This game makes you feel like you are racing a fighter jet with controls of the distant future. The game has amazing graphics and sound effects. The music also keeps the adrenaline pumping while you race your way through several massive tracks. The controls are a bit hard to master but once you do, it feels extremely rewarding. This game is totally worth a download if you are into racing. Be careful though, your VR legs will be tested with all the twists and turns of this game!

Update 0.9.8 just wow! With the latest update the game has received a very solid polish pass over the entire game as well as adding new content. Since launching on app lab the game has only got better and better, with the latest maps really maturing in design.
For newcomers be warned this game does has a steep learning curve, but it is short and well worth the time invested to get a feel of the controls. Best played in a comfy chair with the Quest 2 controllers rested on your leg/knee and treated like a HOTAS. Keep your vision focused on the upcoming track turns, and after getting comfortable with the sensitivity of the controls you won’t flip much until you really start to push lap times. With the latest update there are now sensitivity options which make finding a good balance easy.
The soundtrack, visuals and design are top notch for Quest 2 racing games on the platform, both app lab and the main store. If you want a good value for money game where you can play for dozens of hours then this game will satisfy you. This really isn’t an “experience” VR app and a fully fledge game. The gameplay loop of improving your times and racing against other players around your pace really keeps you in the headset. I have completely lost hours in this game when playing plugged into power. The game ‘s soundtrack really really slaps, but it is also a great game to play with the music off while listening to podcasts.
Hopefully Meta take note of this game and promote it to the main store, racing fans are missing out on this Quest 2 hidden gem!
Nice but please add ... Got this yesterday and have had a couple sessions with it so far. I agree with others this takes time to really learn how to use the controls, but in the end as they've said I'm sure it will be worth it.
But I'd like to add in my two cents here in hoping the development team reads this.
Please make the button presses customizable. Such as what you press down on for changing the craft's positioning. Instead of just that trigger control. Let people re-map the buttons if they feel it helps them to control for better gameplay.
Also have more practice courses available. Like say maybe even trial races solo with no incentive but learning to steer around the track? I use those in other race games to discover in advance of a race what to expect.
Fun game! Update !!!!! 5/5 this game is awesome !! Best racing game on the quest!!
Finally a good , immersive racing game on the quest , the cockpit is awesome , feels like I’m really inside of this ship , the gameplay is fun , the graphics are beautiful , no motion sickness for me , but I’ve been playing VR games for a long time ,I can see how it will make some people sick that are not used to playing .
Difficulty: I didn’t find the game all that difficult , just let off of the throttle when turning , just like in most racing games , the control scheme took some getting used to but it’s not a bad set up , it’s pretty cool.
There is not multiplayer yet , but it’s coming soon , you play single player against bots , that represent people , I assume , but the game is awesome just the way it is as I don’t play multiplayer anyway . Overall 4.5/5 More ships, levels and a single player campaign would make it 5/5
Sticks Controls please?. VR needs more races obviously, so I hope developers will improve the game. Would be good to have possibility to control with a sticks or at least have the virtual yoke or something for the visual reference. Now controls are not comfortable.
Once I see the sticks controls - I'll add 2 stars )
This game is amazing and so fun and the physics reminds me of top gun but it is lacking some free play. This game would be amazing if it had free play and a big city map like ghost city. It would be so fun to play and ride around in the city map freely.
Co-op
I’m not completely sure that this does not have Co-op but i’m pretty sure it doesn’t. Imagine in the free play world or city or highway with your friends playing that game. You could do stunts with your friends or family.
Stunning Virtual racer! I've been a big fan of Wipeout style games since the Playstation days, even playing original Wipeout via emulation. No idea about F-Zero mentioned in other reviews as I haven't played it but this really does satisfy my cravings. What I have played on PCVR though is BallisticNG which for anyone that doesn't know is an amazing PCVR Wipeout clone. What the devs have pulled off here, to get a game like this on standalone Quest is amazing. The variety of tracks with the frequent updates, the improved controls, the feeling of pure fast paced action! It all adds up to one incredible game. Some people mention getting sick when flying, I've not had problems, whether that's because I'm more used to VR in general or because there's plenty of options to reduce that in game I'm not sure, but this is fast paced flying, it might be that some people just need to build up their tolerance for this type of game.
Negatives- the pause feature, can accidentally be triggered if the ship is set up in a way your hands can trigger it while flying and cost you a race
I get that unlocking courses by coming in the top three encourages you to "get good" but having zero customisation options even when you're unlocking a dozen tracks is a little disheartening. I don't want to be stuck with the same colour! Can't you consider giving us some more ship customisation options related to course unlocking instead of just basing it on times? Edit: revisited earlier tracks after adjusting controls and got times down further & managed to unlock some, I think it's still hard for new players. Bug makes your ship sometimes fly off the course with no way back and you have to press the exit track option! Maybe I should slow down :P
Aside from that once you get the sensitivity controls worked out to your own preference and start making those tight turns this is one hell of a game and I love it! My Gameplay an hour in back in June: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-bBNd7KoJY
Great game but a little buggy. Edit: Updated my review as the devs put Czech flag in the game! Good job on the game so far!
This is a really solid racing game. It's fun to try over and over to better your time in this similar to non-VR games like Trackmania. The game very well reminds me a bit of Wipeout but without the power ups and you being in a flying ship. Sometimes i felt like a minimap of some sort would've been nice and maybe an option to show some "hud elements" in front of the ship (as in not in the cockpit but in front like a hologram of some sort).
However the game is a little buggy with some stuff. The hand smoothing thing in menu one time bugged out and became so smooth to a point where i couldn't properly point at the UI elements. Sometimes restarting the race and then winning the race would softlock you with a blank UI. But i'm sure those issues will be ironed out.
This game might not be for everyone cos i believe some people could get motion sick from this but it's a really fun and rewarding racing game.
I F ING LOVE THIS GAME. At first the controlling when hitting turns was a little nauseating, i was flipping all around and enjoying every moment of it laughing 😂 i now got the hang of it and i swear for me this game gives me F-ZERO nostalgia and is literally one of my favorite game i play in every gaming session I do. I can't wait for the multiplayer mode too. To the Devs, Amazing Job 👍😎👍
An excellent Wipeout game for the Quest. I did have some problems with sensitivity and steering in my previous review, but later updates have sorted those issues out so I can now fully recommend Omega Pilot and give it the full five stars it deserves. Nice, sleek and fast rendering gfx with music to match makes this the prime Wipeout game for the Quest that we've all been looking for. The devs are responsive to feedback and listen to their customers, which makes this a well deserved rating. This will surely be in the official store very soon. Now, I'm off to the racetracks!
The perfect vr racer. This is THE Racing game to have on your headset! Tracks are really fun and present a variety of situations and challenges to improve everytime you play. Some if the tracks are really tight and im still trying to get better at speed handling but its easy to tell its something i can grasp with enough practice and you can too! If you want a racing game thats an adventure to master, youve found it!
The best quest racing game so far! Pros: -Beautiful graphics. -Unique control, the most convenient in my opinion -Game conveys a good sense of speed Cons: -The game is quite difficult -Although the controls are comfortable, it takes some getting used to. But once you get the hang of it, the game is awesome.
Shows a lot of promise! I’ll start off by saying I’ve been an AG racing fan since the first Wipeout on the PSX, and played every iteration until now and it’s various imitators and spiritual successors.
This game initially will not feel like Wipeout or other AG racers on flatscreen or even in VR. This feels a lot more like a Red Bull Air Race game thank an AG racer. You can very easily flip 360 degrees and feels more like flying a bulky spaceship through rat tunnels. However as I got to the last track Night I had started to gain more control and had less issues flipping completely, but those expecting some weight towards the track you will be fully suspended with full degree of motion like a spaceship rather than a traditional AG racer. Ironically there is a track with slaloms which reasonable the Red Bull air race and a quite unusual/initially frustrating cube “track” where you have to collect all 5e floating icons in any order the fastest.
The track selection is good in my opinion, the dev has been spamming the Vr and Quest sub reddits with the PCVR footage up until now and I was sceptical the game would look that good. However the design, colours and models actually feel very nice on the native Quest 2 and I wasn’t disappointed like some other mainstream games that use PCVR footage to advertise. The only issue I had is the alpha textures/transparent nature of some of the rat tunnel like tracks, when clashed against bright backgrounds or including complex geometric shapes made it very had to see the boundaries of the tube you were flying through and made some tracks feel like going Mach 6 through a klaideoscrpe.
I think of the main aspects of the AG racing genre and it’s fans is the “flow state” you enter when mastering a track and trying to get faster times. In the time I played, a single battery Quest 2 charge I got through the entire track list bar the last due to a bug. (Put outside the map with no menu button features to exit requiring multiple restarts with no avail) However the elusive feeling of flow state and sweaty palms as I could feel myself get faster and faster really sold me on the design.
At the moment there is only asynchronous multiplier ghosts and out of the hundred or so other players at this time, it did a good job of making me feel close to other players as the ghosts were selected after a initial run of the track. Other modes are currently greyed out with a coming soon, including a large selection on the track page.
The crucial factor that I feel makes this short of the endearing nature of the Wipeout series is that everyone is in the same 3D model of ship with only colour variations. A large part of the fan appeal of AG series like Wipeout was the ship diversity, different handling and the personality of each of the different teams. It would be nice to see some creative embellishment or more single player, non competitive modes with the current track selection for different ships with different mobility, speed, shields etc. at the moment the only tribal nature inherent to racing games is the inclusion of racer’s nationality flag. I just miss racing against teams with personality rather than everyone in the same ship model.
At a price tag of £10.99 here in the UK feel like it is definitely worth it in its current state. The music has been nothing but bangers throughout and apart from a few niggles like intelligible lady speaking in the tutorial, buggy last track and invisible glass tubes I will certainly be coming back for more and getting myself up on all the leaderboards. I think for broader appeal some more single player orientated/RPGlite ship progression with diversity would sell this title more on the main Oculus store against where it is at the moment for tenured AG racing fans.
Oh no no I didn’t feel motion sick, and the controls were stellar. All I would say is would like a bit more haptic feedback when I’m boosting!
Has a lot of promise. Upping the review from 3/5 to 4/5! They have improved the controls and added a pause menu. Awesome to see improvements to the game. Really excited for the future. It has a lot of promise and could be the go-to racing game on the Quest.
Pretty good. Just needs some updates. This is a really enjoyable game with great visuals. I never felt dizzy or got motion sickness so I highly recommend people try it out even if they’re afraid of that. The controls are fine as well, though I’m still getting the hang of it. Found it easier to play than the original Wipeout game. The tracks look nice and varied with quite a number of them already with more to come.
It does have some minor to moderate negatives. Firstly, not a fan of the challenge modes especially since we have to do them to unlock the next race tracks. If they were a separate mode It would be fine. I would’ve liked if every track had a practice option before you start. Almost every racing game I’ve played had them.
Pros - Visuals Controls Gameplay Comfortable Lots of tracks with more to come
Cons - Forced challenge modes No practice modes Still needs updates to feel complete Some bugs need patching
Control needs completely reworking. A fundamental essential in every racing game is the ability to have 100% control over your vehicle (as in real life) ...sadly this game has almost no control ..you find yourself arm in the air spinning your way around a seemingly beautifully designed course while you are twisting your wrist in ways u shouldn't
The vehicle also needs weight ..the tiniest wrist gesture & you are upside down out of control ..
This game has incredible potential but the controls need a complete rework ..vehicles need weight ..
Otherwise great graphics great feel of speed & the UI is obviously a work in progress
Please change the control system & add a feeling of weight to the vehicle & you would have a fantastic game on your hands
