Disc golf player and I enjoyed it! I have been playing disc golf since 2013 and when this came up as a VR game I had to try it. The ability to throw discs in my own house was exactly what I imagined playing in VR. I will say, make sure you have plenty of space. I smashed my hand into the closet multiple times doing big throws and actually knocked the closet door off its hinges twice!
The game is fairly short but very challenging and I went back to play some courses again to get more stars. Some courses have a sweet spot to throw to and get a lower throw count and it can be fun trying to find those sweet spots to land your throws. Judging the force and distance is challenging too as if you throw it too far it will fall off. Ledge then regenerate in your hand and you lose a stroke.
While it isn't perfect it is still fun and probably the closest to playing disc golf of any game I've ever played, which is still great since you can play it inside on a cold snowy day when it's -1 outside :)
Good, but disc throwing still needs work. I love disc golf, and this game is super close to what I want in a VR game.
However, I really wish the discs had more fade, turn, and glide, so that the angle you throw at has more impact. The ability to bag different discs of differing stabilities would also be incredible. I just really wish that I could do big hyzer curves and actually have it go around a corner, rather than mostly having to take it in short straight throws.
Great gameplay, graphics; needs tuning. I really like the graphics and the gameplay is fun but there some things I’d love to be added/changed.
Change: The mini map. Have the red arrow face the direction you need to throw rather then just point down showing your location (have the arrow move as you do when looking at the map)
Add: A forehand option Maybe one or two other kinds of discs that behave a little differently
Lovely concept. Me and my partner both are really happy to finally find a multiplayer game that isn't created around violence of some sort. I genuinely enjoy going on adventures on made up world, it's gorgeous and a lot of fun, and even quite calming with soft colors and music. My only complaint with it so far is complete irrelevance of training directions to how the disc actually behaves. Maybe I'm not getting something right or perhaps the instructions are not very clear, but I tried a million times and curved throws just don't happen so, not to mention that it's completely imposible to release the disc at 10 o'clock as instructions suggest with any sort of force. So being stuck with straight throws only makes passing a course a bit less exciting 🤷🏻♀️ Maybe it's just something the developers need to work out, or perhaps they could include a more visual explanation in the game.. like get a ninja to demonstrate! Overall though, it's a really fun game and a cool space to hang with your friends, so I have high hopes for updates 🤞
This is just masterpiece!👍. Really impressive work! I liked it already when I just got into the main menu😅Absolutely gorgeous graphics and very good and fun gameplay. I think every fun of Walkabout Minigolf will love this game same as I do now👍. Thanks authors for this masterpiece and please continue adding to it!
The throws just don’t hit right. I’m a casual disc golf player, playing at minimum one round a week. I throw 110m max. I can’t get a disc past 50m in this game and feel like I have no angle control past 30m. Unsure if it’s how my motion is or if the game prefers a different one. Discs sometimes flying behind me.
Good for casual fun, but not anybody even at a beginner disc golf level. It just doesn’t quite hit the feeling of a disc golf throw. The game seems to have very good potential. The fact that there has been a physics engine patch makes me believe this game could get this feel better!
Great. Apparently , if you wanted a disc golf or something and play this u need to commit siucide and make sure somebody spills gasoline on you and light it, or else you will be lost in neernity of despair.
But th egme is fine, very beautiful graphics, just love them, simple gamplay and good soft warm up fo me, and quite different from other warm ups i use
Maybe its a bit less than 5 star Its not in death unchained, untill you pfall, crashland
but all those low scores are ridiculous, i play almost every day
Beautiful, fun, casual, needs work. This is a fun game. Its casual and laid back and I like the idea that ancient china is your course and a dragon is your basket. The practice dummies are a fun target too. The artwork is very nice. Could stand to have a little higher polygon count but i'm guessing this game was made for older generation VR's with less juice. some downsides, however are: 1. I agree with a lot of other reviewers here - your physics engine still needs a lot more work. My discs are all over the place despite my throws being fairly consistent X,Y,Z release point every time. 2. release should be with the trigger finger instead of the grip finger. that would be more realistic since most throwers release and guide with their pointer fingers rather than their middle finger. 3. Curve should not be based on whether or not I release at 10 or 2, but rather should be based on tilt of wrist just like the real world. Also should be based on whether or not my disc is actually built with tilt or pitch. 4. speaking of disc build, choosing discs and putting together a disc set should be part of the game. Let me choose a driver for distance and a putter for short throws. And let me choose the tilt and pitch tendencies of my disc just like I do in real life - i.e. let me choose a disc that naturally curves right or curves left or flies straight, has lift or drop, etc. 5. distance and power should be based more on the full arm swing rather than just the wrist snap.
if you work on nothing else, then at least just focus on refining the accuracy and consistency of the trajectory and release point.
bonus points, if you can figure it out: a lot of throwers will increase the power and distance of their drive by taking a couple of power steps forward as they throw (imagine a javelin thrower or shot-putter...). Would be nice if you can figure out how to incorporate that kind of movement into your power and distance calculations.
I would have given it four stars if not for the wild inconsistencies of the throws
Fun enough party game. I clicked both joysticks looking for an options menu and I got a scroll to pop up with a bunch of what looks to be code. I wish that I could have a setting to just use one of the two trigger OR grip to throw. I need to have a good grip on the controller and I can't do that if both buttons grab the disc
Great concept BUT…. I really want to love this game. They did so much right but there are flaws that make the game frustrating. If they could fix the physics to work like off the chains or disc benders this would be one heck of a title.
The graphics are beautiful and the concept is great hoping with updates I can get excited to play. I Love the large levels but use the space you worked so hard to develop. More targets, moving targets, develop a disc gallery,..
-Only 15 levels. Think of each level as 1 hole on a traditional disc golf game. Levels are large but very linear (1-2 paths with a fatal flaw for shortcuts, see below)
-It would be more fun and challenging if you could find shortcuts to compete and beat previous scores. The issue is with many shortcuts they are either very obvious or the areas are out of bounds which makes the short cut impossible. One of the levels has high bamboo but there is a hit box so you can’t make it through the gaps or throw over the bamboo. I want to be able to throw over buildings, throw a curve to follow a path, etc
-the graphics shine but you cannot move freely through a level
-the physics are off. This is my biggest complaint. I have played thousands of disc golf holes and have a great feel for what should happen when I throw with a certain power, angle, release point, etc. it is impossible to throw far. The disc floats up and up and up. I play disc golf and also have off the chains and disc benders. I know this isn’t a disc golf game but the game would benefit from being able to use different discs for different shots. In other games and in real life you can control the angle, distance, flight height and path (s curve , left and right hook) Not here.
-can only throw across your chest. Would be a welcome improvement if you could change the grip on the disc and throw “side arm” (then again due to bad physics you could lob the disc any which way even tomahawk style and it end up on a normal flight path).
-while the one saving Grace to the bad physics is the cheat option which locks in a direction and allows you to roughly control the distance. The issue is that this locked flight path only goes dead straight (cannot control curve) and it makes the game boringly easy. I want a challenge that I have control over.
I bought the game on sale and debated returning it but decided against that. The developers are responsive on here and say they are making updates. I’m going to wait it out and hope for the best. Like I said so much is right and this can be a great game with a few updates and more content. You can tell they worked hard to get it this far so I want to support the developers.
Love this game! Love that it’s multi player so I can play with my husband. It’s challenging and fun to find shortcuts to the dragon. Haven’t really figured out what the cards are for but I love hunting for them. PLEASE Please Please make some more add on courses for this! My husband and I could play this all day! We want add on courses and more scenes and challenges!! We love this game !! And love playing it together at the same time ! Thank you for a great game ! Any add on courses in the works?
