Fantastic VR Puzzle Experience. So many great things about this. I love the fact that you can choose different amounts of total puzzle pieces… the music is perfect and very relaxing… I love the fact that you can add your own images and create puzzles from those… picking up pieces, setting them in place, and putting them back are all simple and intuitive actions… and you gotta love the fact that this is only $4.99. Bravo to the developer!
Really Enjoying This! I love that you're IN the puzzle/environment that you're also recreating on a smaller scale. I love the variety of puzzles/images/places. I prefer this puzzle app way more than Puzzling Places (those puzzles are things/objects and there's no ambience, you're just putting the puzzle together in a void). Beautiful photos.
Endless puzzles! Worth the price! Love that you can download any picture and make it a puzzle. You can choose how many pieces you want and if you want a round or flat puzzle. I wish the directions were better but was able to figure out pretty quickly you can move the puzzle closer to you by grabbing the little round sphere(ball?) and pulling. You can also download more puzzles by choosing browse and it will open the browser for you which makes it pretty easy. Easily worth the price!
Could be so much better. I gave it 5 stars at first for the potential, because I enjoyed it and especially because you can upload custom pictures. But after playing "Puzzling Places" I could hardly play it anymore I was annoyed at the cons, and my hand was hurting because of the strange way you manipulate the pieces. Still Ok, esp for 5$ but could be much more.
Big Pro: You can upload custom pictures from flicker, instructions are in the app, and even better for me, I found out you can snap images from google street view. (instruction - https://e4youth.org/blog/2019/02/05/snapping-360-images-from-google-street-view/)
Cons, too many I'm afraid You can't work organically like in a real-life puzzle. You can't keep more than 2 pieces with the puzzle, and you can just put it in place or nothing. You can make groups on the tray but it doesn't stay in groups if you quit the game and come back. The resolution of the pieces on the tray is poor, and you can't see properly the details on the pieces. I had to pick it up and then when it was in my hands the details showed and I could see it was wrong and had to put it back. manipulating the pieces is strange it leads to awkward hand positions and hurts my hands. Also very often the pointer snaps to another piece, and sometimes the piece got stuck on the controller. When I touch the puzzle in order to rotate it the outer image disappears, and I have to guess where I am. I wish for a puzzle with more than 200 pieces.
The game had potential but it is a missed opportunity.
A good jigsaw puzzle experience. 1-29-22: The game plays well. It features globe or flat puzzles, the pieces can be removed from the board to be placed in the puzzle or connected in front of you, or moved around on the board for organization.
Pros: 1. A chill tune and a set of 3 nature sounds that make up the perfect ambience. 2. The best feature is the option to adjust your view to an angle. So you could play this while reclining. 3. Endless replayability through downloading 360° or flat photos.
Cons: 1. If you turn the game off all of your pieces on the board get shuffled back together! 2. You can only have 1 active puzzle at a time. 3. Maximum puzzle pieces per puzzle is 200. 4. You can only have two pieces off the board at once. The developer indicated there are some limitations that could not be overcome, however I’d point out that in Puzzling Places you can have all 400 pieces out to manipulate without issue. I don’t know anything about software development. I can only base my judgements on what other apps do. 5. Also annoying for the sense of organization is that when you do connect a bunch of pieces and then put them back on the board they spread out to their original locations, but with a highlight behind them. So you know which pieces are connected, but they are not actually connected. The developer stated that this was to keep the board from shuffling your pieces after you organize them. The Puzzling Places app solves this problem by shrinking the connected pieces down as they go back to the board. That’s the better option.
Conclusion: This game is worth the $5.00. However I would love to see further improvements. Primarily, if I need to shut down the game I shouldn’t lose my progress in piece organization! Still, it is a great way to work on flat or globe puzzles. The audio is perfect, there are several very useful customization features for fine tuning the game, and the ability to download photos makes for infinite replayability.
Not perfect but very enjoyable. I gave it 5 stars even though there are many issues yet, for the potential, because it is addictive and enjoyable and especially because you can upload custom pictures. So don't hesitate and buy it because it will give you hours and hours of enjoyment. You can upload from flicker, instructions are in the app, and even better for me, I found out you can snap images from google street view, and working on a puzzle of my parent's house was so much fun. (instruction - https://e4youth.org/blog/2019/02/05/snapping-360-images-from-google-street-view/) Things to improve. The main thing is the fact that you can't work like in a real-life puzzle. I wish there was an option to keep more than 2 pieces with the puzzle, and the pieces to move with the puzzle when I rotate it. That way it was possible to work without the guidelines (another wish). Also, I wish I could work more naturally with the tray. Right now I can sort pieces on the tray, buy in a different mode. I wish I could pick a piece and seeing that I don't need it on the puzzle right now, I could put it in a specific place back on the tray. also to have the ability to join some pieces on the tray. A big problem, the resolution of the pieces on the tray is poor. I worked sitting on the couch with the smaller tray near me and I couldn't see properly the details on the pieces. I had to pick it up and then when it was in my hands the details showed and I could see it was wrong and had to put it back. Other less bothering issues handling the pieces is not very comfortable, the location of the picking point is strange and leads to awkward hand positions. Also very often it is hard the right piece because the pointer snaps to another one, and sometimes the piece got stuck on the controller. When I touch the puzzle in order to rotate it the outer image disappears, and I have to guess where I am. I wish for a puzzle with more than 200 pieces. The link to youtube instructions for uploading images didn't work for me.
Fantastic immersive puzzle game. Solving a 369 degree puzzle from the inside is superb. I wish there was more of this but for the price it's very understandable and you can add your own puzzles too (I take ansel screenshots from pc games and use those) great game and worth every penny and more
Nice puzzle game. It's a very enjoyable 3D puzzle with a different approach. I like the option to pick either a flat or a spheric puzzle. It could have more preinstalled puzzles and more pieces than the current maximum to give even more variety to game play. Alternatively, it would be brilliant if the images to which there is a link could be downloaded and installed from within the app, but I guess the Quest doesn't support such option. One change that I would like to suggest is being able to freely move the tray with the pieces. Currently the positions are a bit awkward if, like me, you enjoy doing puzzles slouching on the couch. The basic position requires having to tilt your head quite a bit downwards, not easy to do if you're resting your head backwards. Similarly moving the tray to either side requires turning not just your head, but your body too in order to see the tray properly. A handle from which one could pull it to the exact desired position would be great. Also the chutes are a bit difficult to reach if you're sitting in a big armchair with large armrests, as those get in the way. Some other way to return the pieces to the tray might work better, for example flinging them back like in Puzzling Places.
Outstanding jigsaw puzzle app. This is a very polished app which allows you to solve jigsaw puzzles in VR either on a rectangular area or projected on to a sphere. A bunch of puzzle images are included and you can add your own from online sources or your own images (instructions are available). The number of pieces to solve the puzzle is a user adjustable feature. Initially the controls felt very floaty and disconnected but the developer has added a motion smoothing setting slider and with this turned off, it felt great to me. The overall control scheme is very well thought out and comfortable.
There are some other outstanding puzzling apps available for the Quest (currently all on App Lab), but the approach taken by Jigsaw 360 is different and complements the other apps nicely. If you enjoy jigsaws, this a must buy and a bargain.
Has Potential... I am a huge supporter and fan of Puzzling Places! Naturally, I went looking for more VR puzzling experiences. I grabbed this and was very excited to try it out. I rated 2 stars for Potential, but overall passed on the game at this point as unplayable. I have been a fan of jigsaws all my life and we all know that you sort out the border pieces then work on assembling the border, then sort out other like pieces and start making connections before adding them to the main puzzle...you cannot do this in this game. They only allow you to pull 2 pieces at a time. There is no working area to keep your progress before finding where it fits on the puzzle sphere (or rectangle). I could not find any sorting tray options either. I am curious if this is a user error due to the positive reviews? I was highly frustrated with the lack of room to work. This could be an excellent 5 star game, but currently I find it unenjoyable.
Very fun. This 3D puzzle is nice, especially after a long day. My only suggestion is to have the SETTINGS box move with the TRAY. Leaving the SETTINGS box in front makes it a bit difficult to see the background image and the globe when there's a big box in front of me. Other than that, I really like this game. Very low stress. You can also take your time with the puzzles.
Jigsaw Paradise. If jigsaws are your thing, your thing is right here.
Highly thoughtful VR interactions here. I agree with other reviewers that the looseness of the puzzle pieces makes it a bit unsatisfying to precisely place pieces but it never stopped me from getting the job done. Sounds like the latest update improved on that though? Haven't tried it yet but good to see the developer is still active and taking feedback.
Enjoyable. I like that you can do 3d or flat and good choice of puzzle completion numbers. Great YouTube video about downloading pics from Flickr which works well. Only criticism is that, when choosing puzzle, the picture disappears and you're left with giant 360 puzzle. It would be nice to see the pic as you're doing it. Having said that, great option to auto put pieces in when getting frustrated. All in all, an enjoyable game
UI too sluggish and not well-designed. It feels much too jiggly, making quick manipulations infeasible. And also because of that, I often prefer to greatly twist my hands than to make several small grab-and-let-go rotations, therefore hurting my wrists. Puzzling Places does this much better. Also, you can only work on 2 pieces (in front of you) at any time, making it difficult to work on multiple areas at the same time.
