I Expect You to Buy. If you don't have this game, what are you doing with your life?! The puzzles are intriguing, fun, and not too difficult, and for those who want to really challenge themselves, there are all kinds of achievements to gather around each one, including speed run achievements. I have all of them. 😜 It also has an awesome story, and I absolutely love the gameplay. Not just the puzzles. And then, the best part of all ... The narrator's dialogue is absolutely fantastic. If you're on the fence, buy it!
Good for (almost) all ages. I'm a 70-year old guy and my daughter's thirty-something and we both enjoyed this game. Got stumped a few times in each level but eventually worked it out, with logical clues. I think they found the sweet spot between frustration and "Aha!" I see that some more experienced gamers felt it was a bit too short, but it was a good value for me. Planning on getting part 2.
Devil's Advocate. Almost all of the reviews I've read have been super positive and that's accurate. A great spy-themed, problem-solving puzzle game. Easily one of the best games on Quest 2. The Bond-style opening sequence is really cool. Each mission is well written and contains great aesthetics. The game play is all extremely interactive and fun from beginning to end. I even enjoyed all of the commentary from developers after you beat the game. Overall, this game is one of a handful that signal a huge leap forward for VR gaming.
The only complaint I have about this game is that, for the price, it just isn't long enough. If there were two or three more missions, or if the existing missions were longer, then I think the current $25 price point would be perfect. It's worth mentioning that I'm a below-average to average gamer who plays less than 4 hours per week; I bought this game on Friday and beat it on Sunday with a total of 1-2 hours of playtime. There is another similar game on Quest 2 - a stationary puzzle game in a space-themed environment - where you get roughly the same amount of content and playtime but for $10 less. If the price point of this game was $5 to $10 less, or if there was just a bit more content, then it would be completely perfect. As it stands now, it's as close to perfect as you can get for a VR game.
Amazing!!! For this review, I will show what I think of most review subjects. I will say the subject in all caps, then add the checkmark to what I think describes it best.

Great game. Way more levels then i thought there would be, Good graphics ( the sequel had even better though) interesting puzzles often with more than one solution, love the side quests that give you a bit more to do one you finish the game, has an escape room type of feel to it
Best Puzzle Game Yet! I’ve been looking for a nice puzzle game to play for a while until I found this one. This has to be one of, if not the best puzzle games that VR has to offer! It is easy to get stumped sometimes, but the “AHA!” moment you get is all worth the price tag. The side achievements are also a nice challenge to stretch the playtime. Definitely a must play!
Brilliant game. This game is excellent. Me and my 9 year old play together to figure out the puzzles via casting it to the laptop. Great fun and a really good story line. The intro alone is worth it, very James Bond-esque. Looking forward to buying the second one and hoping for a third.
素晴らしいデザインで、とても楽しいです。 最近、「I Expect You To Die 1」と「I Expect You To Die 2」を終わらせましたが、懐かしく感じます。この2つはすぐに私のお気に入りのゲームになったので、どちらもとてもおすすめです。
Brilliantly designed and so much fun. I recently finished I Expect You To Die 1 and 2 and I find myself missing them. They quickly became two of my all-time favorite games and I very highly recommend both of them.
Not only is each puzzle immensely fun and satisfying to solve, it’s a blast to go back and try to figure out the extra achievements and Easter eggs. Challenging but never too frustrating, the puzzle design is in the spirit of the very best of classic 1980s and 90s adventure games, combined with some of the most clever use of VR and physics I have seen so far on the Quest. Just a major design achievement all around.
I am leaving the same review on IEYTD 1 and 2 because you really should get both games. Don’t just skip to the newer one. Although 2 is a step up in terms of interesting environmental mechanics, the experience is better when you have played through 1 first, and every mission across both games offers a unique experience. Can’t wait for the next entry in the series!
As good as BEAT SABER. Beat saber is great and depending on what kind of games you like, this is just as good or even better. Everything has detail and the animation is phenomenal. The plot is great, your an agent solving puzzles to defeat ZORAXIS. The puzzles are solvable but you may need to look up the next step to complete the mission. I forgot about this game since I completed it but now going back to it to complete speed runs and achievements it's easier to complete. The sequel is even better and this game is a must buy.
Who knew it would be so funny to die. I bought this because I'm running out of adventure games to try, and don't really like shooter games, so I took a shot. I was afraid it would be frustrating, but instead, it's actually funny. Yes, you die a lot, but each time you learn how to do better until you finally solve the mission. There are mutlitple ways to achieve things which also makes if more interesting. I actually laughed when I realized I had screwed up and I'm going to die... Err Oops... BOOM!! :-) I Loved the train in India, and loved the style of gameplay because you can sit and play without moving around and getting nauseous. Oh and the acting and voice overs are funny and really help you get into character. Fantastic game! This one is truely for all ages (I'm 61). I hope you make more!
Decently fun. I had not as much fun with this game as I did the second. I felt like the 1st mission was the best for the simple fact for it was simple, the rest of the missions were much more complicated and I felt like they suffered for it. The graphics were pretty much the same, and I'd say the same for the music.
YES get it. This is by far one of my favorite games on here - top 5 or maybe even top 3.
You feel like a real spy. You have an office as the main menu basically so instead of just a list of levels you sit in your office and have different items you can interact with. And your handler is a British guy which makes it feel even more like James Bond.
It’s silly but also very smart and makes you think. The puzzles are challenging but the perfect amount most of the time so you feel accomplished when you figure it out. A few things were slightly annoyingly difficult but that doesn’t lower my rating any because I love this game and playing it gets that critical thinking going.
Your character has telekinesis powers (which is suitable since sometimes you have to reach for things and if you’re sitting you can still grab them, and it also is needed for some parts of different puzzles.
I was blown away when I saw you can pick up a cigar and a lighter then open the lighter, light it and move it toward your face and it stays there and smoke comes out of it and then you can even press it against paper and the paper will start to burn. How cool and realistic!
It’s also fun to screen mirror if you have someone over and one person be on the oculus while the other watches and you can do teamwork (it doesn’t have multiplayer but you can kinda pretend it’s local if you do this)
Love love love.
If you enjoy thought-provoking puzzles, escape rooms, spy stuff, get this game. You won’t be disappointed.
I Expect You To Die 2を買うつもりです。
So much fun, but a little short. So, this game is AMAZING! Like, it's very fun and well designed, but it's short. It took me around 5 hours to complete all levels, but I will try to make every advancement so it takes longer. I really recommend to buy this game, and I will buy I Expect You To Die 2 as soon as I will have money for it.
Great game. A great and hilarious adventure game with nice and wacky puzzles in the flair of a 1970's spy thriller. It's meant to be played sitting down and makes the most use of this kind of VR environment. Some scenes can become a little bit hectic, but mostly it's more a question of being well-prepared (which you will be... after dying a few times ;-) ). The puzzles are more on the easier side and never unfair, finding all the hidden stuff and doing the speed runs takes a bit of practice, though (but those are fully optional).
All in all, this is a great game to have short periods of great fun. I wouldn't call it "short", but its definitely over far too quickly (like most good things), but well worth its price (especially with the 3 free DLC missions).
A must-have for any adventure fan with an Oculus Quest.
In love ❤️🤌💕👏😍. I personally love this game and whole idea of being a spy,it makes me think of when I was little wanting to be a “secret agent” and now I’m definitely not but at least I can live like one for a couple hours. You guys did such an amazing job. I can’t wait to play the second one!!! 🤌🤌🤌❤️❤️❤️😁💕😁😁😍🥰🥰
Great VR title, one of the must have’s. Ok. This game brings you into a VR world full of lies, and death. A lot. You will die to poison, drowning, and even just by being stung by 100’s of bees. But be patient with it. This game made me feel like I really WAS the spy, trying to stop an evil corporation. The graphics are good but not Pavlov good, giving it a sort of cartoon feel, which adds to the out-of-this-world let’s use telekinesis to make this tank shoot a plane feel. All in all this is one of the best VR titles ever created same as the sequel and I would Highly recommend this to most any VR players. P.S. I almost cried at the end of the last level it was to perfect.
Best VR narritive title. I have never written a review, like, never, but this game (and its sequel) ARE FANTASTIC!!! The story is deep, the intro sets the tone so well, and the graphics are practically flaw less. LISTEN TO THIS PART EVERYONE!!! Don’t use YouTube, this game will be hard, but YouTube will destroy your experience. You might want to claw your eyes out after dieing 80 times to the same thing, but it is so much more satisfying to do it yourself…
I Expect You to Buy This Game. This puzzle game is fantastic! In this game, you are a secret spy, and you are placed into dangerous scenarios. Your job is to foil Dr. Zor's plan to take over the world, while avoiding death with dozens of booby traps. You need to react fast, and use your critical thinking to escape unharmed. If you don't, you will die. The puzzles are really clever and tricky. You really need to use your brain to solve the puzzles. I am telling you now, you will die. Over, and over, and over again. However, completing a puzzle feels super satisfying. Once you are done with the puzzle, you can go back and complete challenges. This brings replayability to the game. This game is great for all of you puzzle and escape room fanatics out there!
