Great Style and Story. I did love the story of the game, it was a sweet narrative experience, and a good lesson or two with the ending. The style is beautifully cartoonish, characters are relatively well written, and it was generally a fun experience. Voice acting and music was phenomenal. On the technical side however, there are way too many janky mechanics. Teleporting and blinking can get annoying, the mage hands are generally finicky, and strumming and holding the bass can use a lot of work. Character hints can either give you the answer directly or provide not enough direction.Despite its flaws, LOVESICK is an amazing game and narrative experience, and I hope future games can shine even brighter. There are many good ideas and a huge amount of potential.
Great voice acting and music. This game vibed really well with me. Beyond the janky controls is a little gem of a story game that has great voice acting and was surprisingly longer than I expected. I liked the sound design and music too. I think the first level got more love than the later ones so it was not very consistent but if you like story driven games give LOVESICK a spin!
Loved this game but bugs! Update: This is my 3rd reinstall, 3rd playthrough and this time the tempo controls are missing and I can't adjust the windmill's speeds...Oh I can adjust the archers speeds but the arrow is missing from the female archer and the cupid statue no longer has it, neither is it in inventory...I'm done! So glad I got it on sale! DEVS why abandon what could be a great game? I don't get it?Original post: I was really loving this game, it's great! I was halfway through when I upgraded my 3s to a 3 (Which included OS update to). Firstly Lovesick didn't keep my saved position in the game. So I restarted and got to the level where you have to get the drinks to people at the bar only to find the sound waves for grabbing stuff aren't working...at all! Still got the reverb from side trigger. I managed to clear the queue by throwing bottles at them and got to the tomato throwing but nothing is working. The reverb works with nothing in my hand but if I pick up a tomato I can't throw it far enough. Devs!! Help me out, I really want to see the rest of the game but there's lots of bugs!
Looks like an unfinished alpha version. I can live with weird teleport controls from the very first VR games in 2025. And I like the overall game style, but people speaking with closed mouths scare me. But, with all of that devs didn't forget to put unskippable credits intro long as hell at the very beginning, so we could know whom to blame.
Another game breaking bug! (Updated). Edit: after the 4th reinstall, I had to play entirely from the beginning again and finally was able to progress (although I got zero response from the developers) there was another bug at the very end but after rebooting my headset 4 times I was able to get through. Other than the bugs, and the clunky unfinished controller gameplay, I did enjoy the puzzles, the story, and was pleasantly surprised at the amount of content. I can recommend this on a sale but in it's current state and lack of developer involvement, it's worth about 10 to $12 and you'll most likely feel like you got your money's worth. It does need to be polished and fixed but overall I enjoyed it.I was really looking forward to this and although I already knew that we were limited to teleport, and the graphics weren't the greatest, and that it was clunky, I wasn't expecting a game breaking bug. This is the second game that has passed through the meta store that has a bug that will keep you from progressing and finishing the game. At least the developers fixed the bug on the other game immediately but I don't even see a response on any of these reviews. I've put time into this and I'm at the graveyard putting together the gravestone and the last piece does not click in it just falls. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times, rebooted my headset, etc and it's still not fixed and of course this is right near the end of the game so I can't get a refund. Again, out of money and they make sure you can't get it back.... If the developers fix this I will update my review but until then I will not recommend this to anybody.
Good story and narrative bad controls. I wanted to love this game and there were parts that were really neat with cool environments but the controls were pretty bad especially trying to play the bass guitar. It's flops around like a flailing arm blowup man outside a car dealership and the grab mechanics are very iffy in parts and your arms get stuck inside walls and other various objects. I gave this 4 stars because I loved the story and the soundtrack was pretty cool. Some of the puzzles were fun and the environments were very cool just the controls are very lacking and can create a very frustrating experience.
