Winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Best VR Work at the 78th Venice International Film Festival and nominated for an Emmy Award in the Outstanding Interactive Media Innovation category.
Through mind-bending animation, GOLIATH: PLAYING WITH REALITY explores the limits of reality and a true story of so-called ‘schizophrenia’ and the power of gaming communities. Echo (Tilda Swinton) guides you through the many realities of Goliath, a man who spent years isolated in psychiatric institutions but finds connection in multiplayer games. Combining heartfelt dialogue, mesmerising visuals and symbolic interactions, weave through multiple worlds to uncover Goliath’s poignant story.

An absolutely beautiful mind bending exp. Probably my all time favorite VR experience. Love that it spreads awareness on mental health (schizophrenia in this case) by putting you in the mind of the person going through it. You get a genuine sense of the person, who they are, how they think, and whatthey go through. Wish i could find more experiences like this but havent found anything even remotely similar
Pretty cool experience. Haven't checked out alot of the vr stuff yet but this one was really dope. Its kind of like watching a movie but you're also the main character at times. Very immersive and makes you think. Prob best enjoyed in a quiet room
Wow 😯 had me in tears. Well what an experience I must say this is one of the best VR stories with visuals out there. And there are a good few. This had me in tears the details that are included are quite remarkable. It’s mesmerising eye opening shocking and quite frankly had me in tears. A must watch a huge credit to all on this piece be proud of you’re work. And to Goliath himself for this beautiful Narration well done fella.
Warning NOT comfortable. This is NOT a level comfortable at all. It made me so sick I felt bad for days. The story itself was ok but the rating should be changed. If it was marked correctly I wouldn't have tried it at all.
Stunning from start to finish. I didn’t know what to expect, not only is it an excellent story, but it is quite informative. There is even a decent amount of interaction. The graphics are insane, so well done
Thank you. My sister found this game and played it through. I'm schizoaffective bipolar, my sister found this, let my parents play who never could understand what was happening with me. Now they understand if just a window into it all. I have tried taking my life multiple times not being able to explain why and this helps if not fully but enough. Enough for others to understand mental illness.
Mind blown. This is a crazy experience. I’ve played/watched this many times and it’s always mind blowing, but I always feel bad for Goliath/David. anyways I hope all of you have amazing days/years better yet lives, bye.
Great game, just pay attention. I went into this experience completely blind because it was free and I thought the title looked nice. However once I was actually in the game I experienced something I never really thought I wanted. It is a truly wonderful experience and I would recommend it to anyone. The only caution I give is that when you’re playing this experience you should play it when you actually have time to ‘PLAY’ it. There a lots of small details that I’m sure many people wouldn’t mind missing, but I do think many people would enjoy to find. You should also make sure to pay attention to the story as the actual story itself is (and not to sound like a broken record here) a really really good and compelling story. TLDR story is really compelling and good but you need to pay attention in order to not miss things.
Not what I expected. Much better. This is one of those vr “games” that isn’t really a game. Just a sometimes interactive, but very immersive story. If you plan on playing it PLEASE play it in the quietest environment you can. And also make sure the headset is letting in as little light as possible.
Another thing to keep in mind is this isn’t just some creepy weird audio book that makes you do things sometimes. It’s a story about a real person sharing how he experiences life. It’s not supposed to be full of jump scares like a crappy horror movie.
If you plan on taking it seriously and really experiencing it, by all means it’s perfect. But if you’re with a group of people getting intoxicated, passing around a headset, and making jokes, pick something else.
Brilliant and inspiring... A brilliant way to show people what it might be like to have a mental health illness. As I think a lot of people don't understand what it must be like. Very challenging as I attempted the experience 3 times before I got to the end, as I have friends and family who have mental health issues.
Not a game, but an incredible experience. As the title says, this is not a game, but instead a story/experience, and says so in the description.
I felt myself completely encapsulated in Goliath's world, and I love the effects and oddness of it all. The story is very good. As others have said, this is really something that you should pay attention to and completely immerse yourself to be able to feel like you are in Goliath's world. The graphics are awesome, the narration is perfectly soothing and eery. The team who created this did an amazing job shedding light on mental illness.
Ignore the bad reviews. This is a FREE experience.
Note: there is flashing colors, a bit of disorienting movement, and curse words. If you are very sensitive to those things, play this experience with caution.
An awful game worth playing. This experience made me feel something; it was awful, but that’s the point. It made me feel hopeless, scared, and uncomfortable, however, it finished with a glimmer of hope. Considering I work in mental healthcare, this project was well worth experiencing.
Just pay attention. Best documentary in vr. I got this because it was free and I was instantly hooked. The story is fantastic and its a story to make you happy and sad. You have to pay attention because if you don't then you might miss the important parts of the story. This story is so inspiring. I loved every second because it had really cool effects. I highly recommend this because you have nothing really to complain about and its just awesome.
Fantastically understanding! This app is one of a kind! For thoes that know someone struggling in today's society (as in today's society can absolutely be tough) given the situations that we are faced with. Either or the situation other people are faced with! This journey will broaden your mind (as every mind is different) which is why people are so great! Because we work together and use our different minds to create the best solution! This journey really helped to put things in perspective if it's for someone that you know or your loved ones or if it's some one you've cut out of your life, this journey can broaden your mind set to feel and understand the singular tool that you may have been missing!
Fantastic. I suffer with mental health. This video really shows how it is inside our minds when I try to speak to people about my mental health, some people just don't get it. Just keep smiling everything will be ok but it's not about just smiling it's a lot of very complex layers. But now being able to transfer them thoughts and feelings with narrative into VR is fantastic!!! Great concept and enlightenment keep up the good work 💯👍🏾
Interesting. It's an interesting experience, glad I did it. But one thing could use a tweak. I nearly missed out because I said no/remember to the perm for record audio - at that point the game completely locked up even after restart. I took the effort to turn it back on in settings but most wouldn't - suggest a prompt if denied with the option to just use some generic audio instead.
Free amazing experience. As a person who has mental health issues, this was a great experience. The narration, sound design, effects, story, and game design/mini games were all great. I got super immersed. Many of the story's points are very true.
Make sure when you play you're actually immersed and paying attention to get the full experience, trust me, it's worth it.
