A story well told. Through the magic of VR, an average story becomes interesting. The characters are all voiced by one narrator, she does a stellar job!
The only downside is that the three chapters are all short. Short and sweet. Perhaps better than a long and less impactful tale would have been? The art style, models and effects are impressive. It is a shame they didn’t also create an interactive game using the same assets.
All in all, if you like Punk, this is a must own title.
So great. I really liked this, the presentation was just right, the world felt real, dirty and dangerous. It was like watching a movie, but being in the room with the characters, who were all great. If the Battle Scars make an album, I want the vinyl.
What a trip. This is actually great experience. We need more works like this. It's something new and unique for me, which is cool. Story and narration are excellent, I liked visual metaphors and inventive design. I wonder when we'll start getting entire vr films. That would be something
Help. Bought this as it said no Internet connection required, im currently offline due to my phones hotspot being unable to connect back to my q2 headset.. At start it says qued, will start when a wifi connection is available? its been 3weeks since my connection stopped. I'd bought my q2 6weeks ago,ive no wifi and was able to use my phones hotspot for 3weeks,even to set the headset up i used hotspot. Any help to connect would be appreciated.
Battlesscar. It amazes me on how this incredible Story selling so cheap … this is my favourite one so far . I was once a Punk myself … I wished they d do more like it … if s also visually stunning… I love it soooo much .
Loved the artistic direction and VR narr. The film’s art direction reinvent itself every few moments, moving from trainset dioramas and animated comic strips to first-person views and hand-scrawled animations in the blink of an eye.
Only thing that could have been better is the Voice over interpretation.
I really like it. I enjoy watching vr movies and this one is awesome i love the graphics the only complaint i have is i had to turn my head a little bit too far for comfort but other than that its perfect
Not for me. Giving it three stars, the artwork was good and can't fault the effort put into this. However I really didn't enjoy the style used and the story was nothing to write about. In fact I kept looking to see how long was left, because it was only 45 mins long that I watched it all, longer would have been off. Can understand people liking it, but aound a fiver for 45mins and to me boring(could be my age lol) left a nasty taste that I won't try anymore.
PS I do understand that these things are niche and only has a small audience and not complaining about spending a fiver for something, but when it does nothing for you, after all the reviews I read with positives might have heightened my expectations and failed to deliver.
This is what VR was made for! Great storytelling, amazing graphics, and sets that you can literally walk into and look around in. This looks like the future of filmmaking! I always wondered what was coming after holograms, and I would say that this is probably it! Oh yeah, and it was extremely entertaining, but I can’t get over the visuals!
Next-gen storytelling. I first experienced a PC build of this at a VR festival in Toronto a few years back and it really stuck with me. It's a passive narrative experience but it's also not -- if you're idly standing or sitting and not moving or looking around then you're going to miss out on so much. I caught a lot on my second viewing that I missed on my first.
Above all, I love all the different ways the story is told, from the shifting 'sets' to the changes in scale to the fusion of period artwork with virtual spaces... no other VR narrative experience has touched this. The voice acting and music are top notch and you really feel transported to the gritty, 70's-era Alphabet City reality these two young punk girls inhabit.
On a technical level, the port captures everything I remember from the PC build I played. Some textures were blurry but that's more on the hardware than anything, and by no means immersion-breaking.
Highly recommend and it's a great experience to demo to people who aren't sure what VR is capable of!
Underground VR storytelling at its best. Very smart way to use VR to explore an underground environment, exploring oniric transitions and playing with scales to explore story techniques in an inventive and meaningful way. It’ll be good to see more studios and projects like this pioneering storytelling techniques through VR. Simply Very Good. Compliments to the creatives.
Well worth the price. This is the first VR experience I've purchased that isn't a game. I love music, and was into punk when I was younger so I thought I'd take a chance. I was not disappointed. It really shows how art direction can utilize VR to tell an amazing story that is fast, engaging, and complete. Don't hesitate if you're on the fence. It also feels good to support projects like this so we get more artists creating such wonderful work
Superior VR short film. Just buy it, sit back and watch top entertainment. Good enough to win an Oscar for a short film imho. Great graphics, music and storytelling. Will def look out for more from these devs.
