Chillax game play. Pro: Great music ! Someone complained it's to loud , you can turn it down with your oculus volume control problem solved . Voice acting and story line is great! You make devices out of parts to advance the story . It's a relaxing , puzzle tinkering experience. It's only game I've ever played that captures that feeling of making something work using parts that have specific functions to solve a problem . If you're a tinkerer , builder , like to take things apart to see how they work your gonna love this game experience. It's not a rush to grind to the end game it's a chill use your brain to solve the problem. Alos there isn't one set way to build something, you can make the devices compact or big monstrosities whatever you're feeling . I shoot for estheticly pleasing myself. Lastly the cool diagnostics you can run to test your device and determine what you need is pretty cool too.
Con: the device components can glitch now and then falling off the table endlessly for example. Easy fix push the reset button on the in game computer and start you build again . Components can be tricky to pull apart you might pull several others apart trying to get the one you want off . The device build difficulty increases as you would expect. If you get stuck you have to use your brain to figure out why whish apparently is a turn off some people because of that I wouldn't recommend this game for young kids .
Verdict: couple bugs nothing you can't over look , great experience!
It’s good. Decent gameplay loop, really chill tinkering game. Really should be like 3 starts but I’m being generous because it tried something different. 90% of vr games are shooters, which is cool, I love shooting things in vr, but it’s refreshing to see a game try to be something different and not another shooting/combat game and not be total trash at it.
The ups and downs of a really good game. Arcsmith.
The game is pretty good. Heres what i liked about it.
It had really good voice acting, Great story and lore, makes you think outside the box, music is a bop, and there is no 1 way to solve a problem.
Now lets take a look at the bads.
It has a pretty bad tutorial, some levels are very confusing and frustrating, sometimes things just don’t work and it wont tell you or let you figure out why, and sometimes when you have everything correctly it just wont accept it.
Despite all of these downsides i still think its a really fun and unique game unlike vr gun shooter for the 5 millionth time. Its a really good buy for more experienced vr users.
Unplayable. I can't turn down the radio? Seriously? No game menu at all. Voice acting was top notch, graphics looked good, some minor bugs but the music. I get you're proud of the sound track, but I shouldn't have to mute a game to play it. Played for an hour, got a headache decided to log out and see if I could find a solution online. Nope. And Meta in their infinite wisdom won't give me a refund. So congrats. Another company released another unfinished game. You got my money this time, but never again. Add the name to the list of developers not to trust. This kind of alpha release crap is why I basically quit buying games on Steam.
Tutorial phase is ruining my experience. I want to refund this but it has promise I spent maybe 10 minutes remaking the first object before it was apparent that I needed to progress the menus before it would finish giving me the parts I needed. Not long after I get another task to build something that's not clearly explaining why it's failing.
Bought on sale and still considering refunding. Hope Dev reworks beginning of game and makes better info available to the players.
Finicky, add some bugs and you get?. Game looks great. Plays great. Response to user commands pretty bad imo. The first mission is to build a radio. The thing bugged out and you could not assemble it. After hitting the reset button the pieces looked totally different and was assembled with some difficulty. Sometimes pieces would snap on and you let go and it falls apart. Sometimes you put it together and it’s skewed. So you try to take it apart to fix “right” and it refuses to come off. Sometimes you have a piece floating far away but is some how still attached? The reset button became my friend to fix some of these recurring bugs. I hope to find the button that allows me to rotate a piece instead of my wrist. I got to say very frustrating start. Tutorial could use some work.
Realistic tinkering! I love this game! This game wasn't was I was looking for, but I am so glad I came across it!
I was originally looking for puzzle/logic games and came across this. It wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but the trailer intrigued me and the reviews were good so I figured I'd try it out. I am so glad I did!
I think you need to go into this game expecting it to be an engineering/tinkering game with a narrative on the side to really set yourself up for success. I enjoyed the story but I can understand why some of the other reviewers didn't. There were moments where I was so excited to get to build the next thing that I was a little impatient with the cutscenes, but overall I loved the characters and thought the backstory was interesting.
I thought the missions were challenging and fun. Some of them I flew threw in what felt like a minute, but others I spent a good chunk of time working on. Much more time than I realized. I looked at the clock and couldn't believe 40 minutes had flown by. The variety of missions was nice, and I really enjoyed the new mechanics and constraints that were introduced along the way. I think some of the jobs just clicked in my head easier than others, which is why some felt so easy/quick and others felt more challenging. I also challenged myself to build the items in as few pieces as possible just for an added difficulty, so sometimes I'd get it working and then spend more time optimizing it before turning in the task.
I've spent several hours relaxing on my couch tinkering at this virtual workbench and I find myself wanting to go back and play with it more. Setting my own personal challenges in addition to the ones posed in game adds so much more to this game in my opinion.
This VR experience has been one of the most rewarding and immersive things I've done. It feels so good to engineer something that works! Some of the concepts and tools took me a little bit to fully grasp and utilize to their fullest, but once everything clicked it was amazing.
If you're on the fence about this game I recommend getting it and trying it out. You get to work on the jobs quickly and I think you'll get a good feel for the game in the time limit for a refund if you find that it's not for you.
I am so happy with my purchase, but would absolutely love to see more content like this from the developer. I look forward to experiencing more things like this!

I love it, but it's a toss-up... I went ahead and gave this game four stars. I'm really torn on this game because I want SO much to be able to recommend it.. but in some regards I was very let down. This is not some crappy, buggy, barely watchable experience... let's just say, this game had a crazy level of potential, and just missed the mark. Maybe that will change in the future, but for now...
OK, so basic summary, I have a feeling that people who are on the fence about buying this game will end up loving it, and people who think they will love it will end up on the fence of whether to recommend it.
I imagine the people on the fence about it - maybe those who are unfamiliar with the genre of "build the thing, then stimulate its automated function" and therefore have very little experience with that type of game - will love it.
Then there are people like me who LOVE this type of game - the kind of Zachtronics "SpaceChem" and "Exa Punks" Type game - who see this and go, YES YES YES!!! ... and then play the game and wish SO much it had been so much more.
Let's start with the positives. The game is absolutely beautiful. The animation is seamless, the level of detail is fantastic.. you feel like you really are in this little space station. The characters are great - I even liked Toolie, the robot several folks seem to think is annoying. The music was super scifi and super chill (in most games I disable music - in this one I left it on!). The physics feel very realistic and the controls are not janky at all! (Except for a couple small things... like, the holder arm is nearly impossible to control, but since you don't need it anyway, it's not really a problem. Oh, and sometimes separating the parts can be a pain, but again, it's not game-breaking.) The environment the developers have created for this game is....... absolutely fantastic. When I started out I envisioned myself playing this game for hours on end.
And that's where the let-down comes in.
This game is short. I mean, really short. Those who are unfamiliar with this genre might get quite a few hours out of it, but for someone like me who used to spend hours trying to find the most obscenely efficient reactors in SpaceChem, I blew through this game so quickly. I got to a part where
(*****POSSIBLE SPOILER***) I was constructing a machine I knew was integral to the plot (***END OF POSSIBLE SPOILER***)
... and I figured, oh, good! I have finished the introduction levels! Now I can get to the real challenges! ...and then, credits roll. Literally - I thought I was finishing the introduction, but I was finishing the game. Oh, yes, there are a few bonus levels, and I love the game play so much that I'll eventually go do those... but... it's over now.
Don't get me wrong - there's a good... I don't know... 20, 30 levels? Something like that? But they weren't terribly challenging (realistically, you could probably just tinker with stuff until you get it right, rather than having to wrack your brains for a solution), and there were just so few. I wanted to spend hours, days, weeks with this game, but I guess it was not meant to be.
Again - if you're new to this type of game you'll probably love it and it IS *very beautifully* done.. that's why it gets 4 stars instead of 3.. but with the current quantity of content and lack of severe challenge, if you're coming here thinking this will be the VR version of SpaceChem, it's not. And I hate writing such a sad review because AGAIN THE ATMOSPHERE IS BEYOND FANTASTIC and if there were more puzzles and much harder puzzles I'd give it 42 stars out of 5.
A nice game, but not for everyone. If you like puzzles and building things, this game is for you! But if you don't satisfy both conditions, it may get boring easily. The gameplay is about designing machines without overcharging or overheating them, but the components that you use to avoid overcharging generate heat. Then sometimes you have requirements about space and variations of energy, but there's nothing more.
The plot is nothing special, but enriches the game.
The only thing that I hate of this game is THE SOUNDTRACK. There are some relaxing tracks, but the other ones reminded me about ringtones from 00's that you couldn't get out of your head. I could have tourned then off, I know, but for me when building things a bit of music is a must, and in VR I can't just open Spotify.
To sum up, I consider it a niche game, but if you like this kind of games is quite good.
Decent puzzle story. The puzzle logic is simple to learn but harder to master. I like the story that comes with the puzzles as it makes me feel immersed in a world where I am an arc smith
Great game. The game is great if you're into 3d puzzles, but it's definitely not for everyone. The "snap points" on the parts can be just a bit finicky and that can be annoying.
VR Science Project. Really enjoying this game. I was wary at first about buying this as I don't particularly enjoy puzzle or exit games. But this feels much different. It's an interesting mix of science experiment, electrical theory, workshop troubleshooting tied together in a well put together story. I really like that you can play around with different designs and test things. I was able to just work with fewer parts than the project requires to simply test each combination slowly so that I can see, measure and understand how each mix of components work together. I am happy that there is no time pressure, at least I haven't come across this yet.
Requested Improvements: - I am glad that there are separate sound settings. However the roving robot makes a lot of noise as it continues to move around while you are working. It appears it's sounds are tied into the master sound setting. I need to concentrate while I work, either give me a button to put that robot in sleep mode or give me a separate sound setting to turn his sounds down. - Please don't force the tutorial on players. These popups can be very annoying and breaks the immersion. I would like the option to turn on tutorial information when and if I want it. The existing joystick press tooltip functionality is enough for me. I don't want to have force fed guidance. Part of the fun is just figuring it all out on our own.
Good when it works. The game is a blast, and I have wasted hours playing, but I hate to say that a good chunk of those hours were me sitting there wondering why when I had two contraptions that both powered perfectly when separated, but are underpowered when connected via radiators that aren't supposed to allow power to pass through.
About halfway through the game the way the core mechanics work begins to get more and more out of whack. Power begins to distribute in weird ways ignoring connection paths and part order. Heat does what it wants, you're better off just slapping on a radiator each time it overheats until it works than doing the math.
Aside from that, the way the game handles can get really frustrating if you're not patient with it. Removing the right part can be a chore, with it refusing to remove just that piece and instead ripping the contraption into chunks. The auto snapping can be both finicky and over zealous, where sometimes you can't connect two pieces and others it wants to connect to every available spot but the one you want.
Sometimes items get "stuck" together, even if not touching. You just have to reset and it is fine but that gets really annoying when it happens frequently.
If you can get over all of this though the game is great with the atmosphere of just sitting there with the music being very relaxing if you're like me and just enjoy fiddling with electronics and mechanical things. There is also a story, though one that so far has been entertaining if not cliché.
Worth it. A great game once you get the hang of the different pieces. It sometimes gets a bit confusing but you just need to sleep on it every now and again. Once I spent half an hour on a single project without success came back the next day and solved it in less than three minutes. Overall a great game, if a little frustrating.
Engineering + Experimentation = Fun. I'll be honest, the trailer didn't sell it for me. Yet reading the reviews and watching the start of just one YT video and I had to give it a go.
He'll, there's a refund policy, what's the worst that can happen. I'll tell you.. You get suckled into the how can I solve this loop.
Working out how to manage power and heat, plus getting the thing to work takes time, but when you solve it. You actually feel like you've achieved something.
It's a lovely change of pace from the frantic hitting/shooting/swinging combo. I find myself just sitting and working my way through the puzzle like jobs.
I got totally stuck on my second ot third job (medical scanner), but working through the logic and breaking down what the tools do, how they help you achieve your goals and then reviewing small changes led to "eureka" moment. Very satisfying.
Only on job 6 now, but it's it's place I want to go back to, and calmly work my way through the jobs and see what's happening in the world around me.
Not seen much of the story really so far, it hasn't sucked me in, and it pleasant enough.
Totally agree with another reviewer. The robot sound needs to be managed.
A pleasant change of pace, taxing enough to get feeling of achievement yet not overly hard.
Lost one star, just for the every moving robot. Well, a half star really.
Really Enjoying This. I'm really enjoying this game, I love putting the modules together and trying to get them to work. My only issue is that the modules start bugging out sometimes and sticking together while floating in mid-air.
To fix it, throw the parts in the disassembler. They will either disappear or seperate and you can continue building.

Arcsmith is just as I assumed. A repetitive, challenging puzzle mechanic that takes place on a spaceship... Everything in their game trailer is pretty much what you get!
Puzzle mechanics are repetitive but challenging and interactive. If you can get through the tutorial and enjoyed it, you can really dig deep into the puzzles of this game.
However, for me, I felt it all a little too drawn out with endless tutorials to read that never fully "clicked"!
The real villain of this game is how repetitive you feel the puzzles becoming.
The characters and voice acting are top-notch however and the entire thing plays like a theatrical two-man Broadway play... but in space!!
If the idea of calculating resisters and power generators to solve basic math problems sounds like a good time to you... You'll enjoy this game.
Puzzles are fun but... I do enjoy puzzle games, and I enjoy trying to find the optimal solution to these puzzles. Unfortunately, at least so far, they don't take particularly long to solve, and every time you solve one, you have to watch a 2-3 minute cut-scene telling a story that seems wholely unrelated to the puzzles themselves. If you like a story, with short breaks to manipulate objects, this game is for you. If you are like me, and you want to solve a puzzle and move on to the next one, you will likely find the pace agonizingly slow.
