My Favorite Game. This is literally my favorite game on VR. My second would have to be Pokerstars. Every time I'm at a table playing Poker, I always ask if anybody plays Contractors. Most say no and ask me what it is. Once I tell them, they literally use my referral link and buy it. I swear I'm partially responsible for the spike in sales. 🤣 I seriously love this game and play all day. They have literally perfected the sounds. Like when the bullets hit different material it sounds different and everything. I'm completely in love with zombie modes and all the different mods and different maps. So fun, and I really enjoy it. 🥰 The only thing I can say I don't like about it, is the fact that there are absolutely no black avatars, or women avatars, and I am a black woman so it would be nice to be represented. Other than that, nice job developers. 😜

My biggest tip is spend time in the training ground; firing, loading and switching to side arm.
I jumped into matches immediately and you don’t have time to learn, just throw a bunch of guns on the loadouts and practice each style. You may find yourself picking someone’s weapon up instead of reloading so is worth trying a lot! The graphics and immersion on this game is amazing, it really does set the goal for what FPS VR should look and feel like.

Spectacular game with endless potential. Let me say a few things before I talk about the game. I usually don't like vr shooter games or get bored of them very quickly. Nothing against them, just not my thing usually. But then I saw the habie147 video on the Halo mod and... look, I'm not someone who grew up with Halo at all. I was a Playstation guy. But seeing the mod and realizing it wasn't just a map port... it gave me a spark. I love playing mods of games. It overall gives way more playtime to the game. So to see that the devs actively support and try to push mod support was very cool so I decided to get it. And yeah the Halo mode is really fun. But, I did not expect everything else I'd find on there.
TF2, Clone Wars, Snowball Fight, COD Zombies, Paintball, JediAcademy, so many unbelievably fun modes all on Contractors, all constantly getting updates (with more modes being added as time goes on ofc). And these aren't just new maps and gun skins. These are full mechanics. New game modes. Things I have never seen a VR game pull off this well. TF2? It has most of the classes and are making Engineer right now with Spy planned after. Not only do all of these classes have their mechanics, but they COMPLETELY RECREATED PAYLOAD. ALL IN VR, WITH PEFFECT SMOOTH COMPATIBILITY ON QUEST. Snowball Fight? Oh you don't have a gun. You have a snowball you have to actually throw at someone. They all feel so different from each other and it really is magical to me. Not to mention all of the amazing maps from classic COD maps, Star Wars maps, Halo maps, TF2 maps, and the more unique ones made like the Train Heist and South Park. Oh and I should also mention how easy they are to install. No external sources, you just download them from inside the game thanks to mod.io and their godlike abilities.
Contractors and the devs at Caveman Studios have successfully made the first VR FPS Gmod. Bonelab is great, Pavlov is great, but no game has been able to compare with Contractors to me. It's an absolute blast no matter what mode or map you play and I highly recommend to anyone reading that they at least try it. Especially since it's only gonna get bigger and the mods (and game as a whole) are only gonna get better.
BEST GAME ON QUEST. Like many I had downloaded other FPS on quest and was hesitant to buy contractors. It looked “blah.” I found out a buddy of mine had a VR and as soon as we jumped in a party he was like DOWNLOAD CONTRACTORS.
I not only had gifted credits but I had 30% off so I got the game for $3.99. I expected it to be worth just as much. As soon as we jumped in a game I was MIND BLOWN!!!
Like most of us we grew up on COD games. I was speechless while playing TDM in NUKETOWN!! Then KILLHOUSE, RUST, & TERMINAL!!!!!!! Absolutely amazing work by the modding community. It truly feels and PLAYS just like COD, Halo, & Star Wars BF2!!!!
With mods this game is the best. This game is amazing. With mods, this is essentially halo, cod, and star wars battalion all in one. What more can be said besides just buy it and you will not regret it.
If i had to nitpick, I’d request an additional campaign mode, allowing utility belt location adjustments, and allowing force grab on items so that we can play the game while seated. But if they did give us all of that, this game would be flawless :)

One Of The Best On The Market. I honestly wasn’t too satisfied with my purchase with this game around 1 year ago. But, since then, the game has gone from decent to absolutely spectacular! This game has been through a lot, from complete redesigns visually to adding physics and mod support. These three major updates made the game go from barely worth it for 20$ all the way to worth 40$ at-least! The multiplayer is fantastic with a COD type feel only enhanced by community modders adding in COD maps and COD weapons and models. And yes, you read that right, COD maps and COD weapons. The game has amazingly implemented in-game modding which allows you to download load outs, maps, and even game modes! The quality is most certainly there, with some of my favorites being a tarkov style gun mod, a halo mod, and a MW2 (2009) mod. And those are just gun load-out mods, I can’t even describe how fantastic some of the map mods are in this game. The maps modded or not have great visuals that most certainly compete with the likes of Onward and Pavlov. The guns have a nice shine to them and have good sound and feel overall. The game also includes a built-in zombies mode which is fun. But personally I prefer the fully working COD zombies mod that is downloadable. It has working wall guns and actual soda power up machines, they also have a pack-a-punch machine too! Overall, I’m in love with this game. The community isn’t incredibly toxic like Onward or Pavlov but it still has its few rotten eggs in there. The game frequently gets updated but even if not, you still have the modding community which is incredibly active giving their mods an update at-least everyday, I haven’t had a day where one of my mods hasn’t gotten an update. The creators of this game have events during holiday seasons where you can earn skins for your guns for completing challenges. This game is great and I would totally recommend it to any of my friends who own a headset. The single player is lacking and it’s way better when you play multiplayer for sure. If you are on the fence for buying this game just keep in mind that this is more of a multiplayer experience, with mechanics that make it feel like a COD game and open mod support for PC and Quest. If you are feeling a more single player experience then I don’t think I would recommend it. This game is way worth the price if you are taking advantage of everything they give you to do. Thanks for your time! Have fun making a decision if you would like to own this game or not, I hope I helped with your decision!
Definitely the best VR FPS game so far! I've played Pavlov but didn't feel as fluid compared to contractors. And the mods that they have for Contractors is awesome. So many different mods! MW1,2,3 COD1,2,3 Titanfall, PUbG, Halo, Zombies, oh and a new one I just tried is like straight out of John Wick only a Pistol and knife and in a club and blend in with the crowd. That mod is really fun! But yea Contractors is a great game and I love it! Graphics are great and the mechanics are on point. I can't even think of any negatives about the game. Definitely worth the purchase.
I think I’m the problem. Contractors is a pretty decent shooter game. If you want a call of duty Vr game this is the closest you’ll find. But recently I just don’t seem to have much fun while playing. I really struggle with aiming, thus the entire game feels overly challenging, unforgiving and frustrating. I don’t know if I’m such a bad shot that I can’t have fun or if there’s other mechanics at play. I’m rating the game high because it’s a good game, I just feel like I have no place here. While there is a lot to be said about the other gamemodes and how they don’t translate to VR well, I just feel useless while playing. My teammates berate me while I’m trying my absolute best, the AI light me up before I have time to react or do my own thing. There’s way too much going on at any given time and I get overwhelmed and frustrated. I’m genuinely starting to wonder if I’m mentally I’ll. I’m 21 and have had zero issues with shooting games even in VR, but contractors is making me question myself.
I’ve tried every game mode, zombies, survival, online and offline. I just can’t seem to find something I’m even half decent at, I’ve never made it past round 8 on either mode and go negative while playing online. Like I said I think I’m the problem and need to find another game.
Since your accuracy determines the difficulty everything I try feels the same. I don’t have the time to load up the game and practice for hours every day, even at that rate it’ll be weeks or months before I’m a decent player. I genuinely don’t know how anyone except navy seals can enjoy a game like this, it’s just too unforgiving to get into. I’m great at pc/console shooters. Round 50 on MW3 or cod zombies is simple, here it’s impossible for me. I want to blame the game but it’s hard to tell where the problem is. I truly feel like I’m more accurate than this game lets on. Games like robo recall are a walk in the park. But here I’m just getting clowned on every single time I play. I think with some changes to the game rules, especially ammo cost in the zombies and survival I could have a much better time. But I feel like I’m being punished for trying at every turn. I don’t know how anyone can play without sitting in a corner with an automatic weapon, it just feels impossible to get better. I try and try, I use the firing range and stick to the same guns but nothing changes. It feels hopeless. Maybe I’m just that awful at this game and need practice, but at the same time I’m not willing to meet a game more than halfway to have a good experience, especially if I can’t get that practice while playing. In most games you can choose a difficulty or play a different mode to get better, you don’t get that option here. If you suck at shooting you won’t have fun, plain and simple. Your game doesn’t have to be a hardcore sweat fest to be fun devs, I wish there was something in game to help players like myself get a foothold. Something to encourage me to keep trying. I don’t want to boot this game because I know going into it I’m gonna get slaughtered no matter what.

READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE PURCHASING. Contractors is amazing. The selections for guns and maps are great and are further enhanced by the modding community. If you are buying this game because you enjoy CoD and want a similar experience, go ahead. You won't regret it. If you're looking for a more fleshed out experience compared to Pavlov Shack Beta (still in beta at the time of this review), you'll also enjoy it thoroughly. However, if you're looking for a more tactical or single player oriented game, you might prefer something like Zero Caliber: Reloaded or Onward.
War, I guess
The game doesn't look as good as something like Red Matter 2 (If you like puzzle games check it out too) but it looks real enough that you'll be immersed in minutes, luckily, the multiplayer is not full of slur-spitting 9 year olds, but they still exist here, so proceed with caution around them.
If you read up to here, thanks and definitely watch reviews on it 👍
TL;DR: Amazing, but not tactical or single player oriented.
DONT MAKE THE MITAKE I DID. I debated two weeks to buy this game. I waited for more reviews and watched videos on it to help make my decision. What a waste of two weeks…this is the best game on my headset. I CAN’T STOP PLAYING 😭 I already own onward so I didn’t think this would be much different. The COD and Halo maps you can play on here alone make it worth the money.
No Sugarcoated 5 Star review.
No Sugarcoated 5 Star review. This review is legit as I have played almost all kinds, types and variety of VR FPS games. I have Onward, Pavlov Shack Beta, Gun Slingers, Grapple Tournament, Larcenauts and many more. Now that I have my experience out of the way; a quick background to my complete Contractors VR experience:
I played Contractors VR on my friends Oculus Quest 2 back when I did not have one yet (roughly 2 years ago). He let me try Onward AND Contractors VR. At the time (the rough 2 years ago), I thought Onward was the peak of VR FPS gaming. It was so realistic and I thought Contractors VR was so kiddish and no player base. When I bought my Quest 2, Onward was the first game I purchased. I played Onward so much and started to realize how clunky it was. I tried Pavlov Shack Beta after I had those thoughts. I enjoyed Pavlov even more than Onward because of the maps and modes that were custom to Pavlov and the community. I loved the pace and the realism of the guns. Pavlov became my favorite for months. I dabbled in the other titles a little but they ALL fell short due to no players, terrible physics and not the FPS game I was yearning for.
Fast forward to today. My friend was waiting for my Population One to reinstall and I said I wish their was another game we could play (this has been now about 2 years of ME owning a quest). I didn’t want to play Horizon Worlds or my new game Project Demigod. He said “Brooo Contractors got a huge update there is like Star Wars and Halo shi in the game now, I’m trying to figure it out right now.” I immediately took interest. I went to the Meta store and basically instantly purchased the game with lowish expectations. I told him “welp there goes another 20$ to a game I’ll just forget is installed.” I loaded up the game and was met with a visually eye captivating environment. I was amazed, but confused. This was not the game I remember disliking already? The menu was new, the graphics were new, the physics were new. I was perplexed by how much the game has changed for the better (and best).
Gameplay is AMAZING, graphics are STUNNING, the mods are F’n AWESOME. If you are like “oh it’s probably like blade and sorcery mods that don’t work.” NO. I just played a full round of ground war on Yavin 4 temple with a FULL Star Wars load out that you can customize. I mean battlefront 2 customize. You can choose assault, heavy, officer and specialist; you name it. It is SO cool to play almost ALL of the bo1, bo2, mw2, mw3 maps on this game. They are not remade into contractors. They look like legit ports of the game. I felt like I was playing a legit COD VR for 3 hours straight (Ik Ik it’s not good for me but I was plugged in charging and time slipped).
I was so skeptical about this game, but it truly is the best. Be weary that it is 10gb of a game, but it is worth every gig.
Buy the game if you are contemplating it. You wont regret it!
AMAZING... but the children. This game is everything I ask for in a VR shooter. Great maps, good gunplay, mods, preset loadouts, and overall just a good fun experience. But the game is plagued with children who do nothing but camp and trash talk the whole game. I only get 1 game with legitimate adults per day of maybe 10-20 games. There is no full mute button, you have to do it manually for every person in every game, which is very annoying. Overall, 9/10. Add an option to mute all or silence voice chat entirely, and also, beware of the plague that is annoying 8 year old children.
Wrist pivot is genius. (Please give the option to mute all)
Contractors solved an issue that plagues all vr shooter, that the guns are tethered to a pivot point on the body. It makes the guns always feel disconnected from the hands— because they are. Until… I discovered “wrist pivot” in settings. Omg. Every time I aim down sight it’s pointed right where I want. The handling is perfect. Nice job contractors. You literally solved a massive problem. Now all guns no matter what when you aim are going to line up according to your wrists, not you virtual avatar shoulder or hip. Got it? Brilliantly done contractors.
Now for the game, I cant turn the volume down in game. I have to press the oculus home button which takes me out of the game in order to adjust the volume.
Chat volume sliders please
Mute all button
Sound options to change volume levels between player, environment, gun sounds etc. -mainly the problem is that people are so loud and there’s no ability to turn them down. I also encounter a glitch where one kid was talking but everyone was muted. Remutting them didn’t work. Left the game.
I wish there were a mini map, something on your wrist that’s there like a watch. Make it work both on the outside and inside parts of the wrist so the maps visible ads. Or give the option to have it float.
The addition of a matchmaking server would really make this game feel autonomous. No other vr game has that.
Pulling pins is weird. You have to do it gently.
I often wish contracts had onwards mechanics. It’s much better with wrist pivot but contractors just has a bouncy recoil system. There’s no ability to manage it. Mainly it’s a headshot hunter competition. I do like that headshots are 1 shot, but sometimes I feel the gameplay suffers.
Because recoil is so bouncy, you sit there shooting someone who you know you killed, but you die because that recoil bounces any way it wants. Games like zero caliber have REALLY well don’t recoil and gun handling. I’m that game you can lay out the full auto and handle it the same way you could in warzone or something like that. It takes away a type of play style which I’ve enjoyed in zero caliber but can’t in contractors.
Contractors mod support is tear inducingly good. Everything works. It’s so simple. I just hate that I still see full lobbies of the generic maps. It’s like people don’t know how to start diverse maps, another reason why matchmaking would be good.
I would love to see a recoil update sometime, some new weapons. The M9 is missed.
Finally, it would be cool to see some killstreaks introduced. Imagine flying the chopper gunner or handling the ac130. Hard point and other modes should be added to allow proper cod like experience. We already have the mw2019 maps, why not introduce the modes as well.
Undisputed GOAT of VR FPS - New Update. I find it funny that Onward is still one of the top selling games on the Oculus store and Pavlov Shack is #1 on Applab and SideQuest when neither of them compare to the sleeping giant that is Contractors. With the recent Game Experience update, it is now arguably the most developed and feature rich VR FPS you can find as many of the others have fallen short as of late. The new update adds collisions to weapons which was a sorely missed feature; it now allows for much better shooting behind cover as you can lean the barrel of your weapon over the edge while maintaining cover (though it can be kinda glitchy and get stuck on walls sometimes). It also added control-based crouching which has mechanically shifted the meta from jump shots (which have been nerfed by recoil) to a slide-cancel type of movement achieved by flicking the movement stick up and down. Another notable thing from the update is the lower TTK which is fantastic — it finally makes it feel more like classic Contractors before the Enhancement and Hazard updates which I’ve missed dearly. The final notable feature from the update is the expanded mod tools which only further cement Contractor’s lead in quality mod maps available for cross platform play. But now being able to add custom guns and rules takes modded maps to another level, especially the Halo ones. It’s honestly pretty mind blowing how quickly the game is outpacing many of its competitors and becoming more legitimate as it’s own title each day. Caveman Games have made a name for themselves with this game and it will only continue to improve in the future with more features and updates.
The feature that I actually think I like the most about Contractors over other FPS games I’ve played, flat or VR is that (most) guns will kill with a single shot to the head, depending on their rate of fire/caliber. It is the great equalizer— it lets unskilled players get kills as long as they manage to hit a headshot, and rewards skilled players who are able to quickly snap to their target. In a reversal from the Hazard update, the Game Experience update reset the TTK to a faster pace like classic Contractors which I had sorely missed. It feels a lot better to burst enemies without feeling cheated when they land a lucky headshot. The nerfing of jumpshotting has also helped significantly in making people play less aggressively as they can’t simply outmaneuver and beam enemies in close quarters by jumping corners all day. SMGs finally feel more viable again as their damage is actually decent from range (especially the Honey Badger, goated gun) and can somewhat compete with ARs. Although unfortunately you will still find the meta dominated by the overpowered guns that have a trifecta of accuracy, damage and rate of fire like the Bren.
Anyway, the game has great graphics for standalone which are only getting better with new updates. The new update has made the game’s color palette slightly more muted, similar to the PCVR version finally. On the topic of updates, that in itself is a feature of Contractors— the productivity of Caveman Games. With every update the game inches closer to its PCVR counterpart which can’t really be said about Onward or Pavlov at this point. Both games have either abandoned their PCVR port or have stopped consistent updates. You’re paying a premium, yes; but it’s for a reason. Contractors is the best FPS game on Quest 2 with the most amount of polish, most amount of content, and most amount of fun. If you’re still wasting your time with PavlOnward at this point you haven’t been paying attention.
