Great with lots of flaws. The positive: - There is no 2d painting app that can run using only the oculus quest at the moment of this review. Vermillion requires a good PC. King spray graffiti focus on spray - the cheap price for the amount of effort done - the brush reacts realistically to the touch on the canvas - the author is trying to improve his app in future patches as he mentioned in reddit...
The negative: - You cannot draw using a pencil or a pen. Not everything has to be a painting... - app is not designed for left handed people. - auto hold is off. I get the app is trying to be realistic but you don't have to be. When I grab a brush, it is should auto grab it as soon as I move my hand in the vicinity. It should hold it even if I don't press a button. - decent interface on the watch, but open brush or multi brush does a better job. There is one major flaw... I wish I could change brushes using the watch - missing a small tutorial. Like all app, we all wish for a quick tutorial on how to use the app - missing a model. As mentioned in reddit, it will be awesome if we could be able to view a picture as reference - no mp3 play. I like to listen to music while I paint - no background. I want to be able to go to a park, wear the oculus quest 2, use the app without wifi, and use the world as my template - different size of canvas - paint on the floor or the ceiling while laying down on my bed - different layers. If you use Photoshop before, you know there is a concept of layers. I wish this app has such option. That way you can paint as much as you want, make a new layer, paint on top, see if you like it, hide it, try again, and the compare your first attempt to your second. Delete my first attempt if it is worse. - In a similar idea to the layer, I wish we could replace the boring white canvas by a picture that we could paint on top of it... And then hide it when desire - being able to save everything and email a screenshot of the painting - no vibration feedback from the controllers when I paint (maybe this should be optional). - a clock showing what time it is and a timer... How long it took to complete - multiple canvas so we could draw different painting at the same time
Since I am no artist, I am using this application to learn how to write in recursive. But it is not simple as this app was designed for painting and I have no picture to use as reference. Open brush at this time is better for that purpose. I will keep this app because I feel there is a lot of potential, the author desires to improve it and because it is dirt cheap. Good luck.
The new digital art. I think this idea is brilliant, it’s super relaxing, you forget the world around you completely. I think this is going to go far and be something incredible. My only qualm is that picking colours should be a little bit easier, but I’m sure there will be plenty of updates to come to keep improving this already brilliant game. Great work!
Not really realistic. I use all the art apps on oculus. I think the only “good” part in this, is the enviroment where you draw. Lot of problems with hand interaction , with brushes , not possible to save out your painting, not possible to resize canvas and the texture is low quality. I think we need something more for art on oculus. Ok this is a wip but as mentioned before I think best way is to give this step of Art Studio for free. For now 2 stars… I keep trying and going to revisit my review if they fix big problems .
professional fine artist , ridiculous. There is little to no explanation. By the time you get a brush , get centered, you are dizzy and the brush falls out of your hand. It does not stay. Not sure how to switch colors and actually hold the paint. The palette switches hands ..sorry I wish to get a refund but this is an APP lab. I am nauseous from the way the transport moves, feels like an electric wheelchair. I really wanted to paint but I am hours frustrated.
Amazing for everyone. It's relaxing, it has a nice environment and music. But the best thing is that it's easy to learn painting, since I can switch from one canvas to the other without having to carry it and then mount it onto something to hold it for me. It doesn't get messy and the brushes and colours are just amazing. I'm amazed at this right now and I can't imagine what new features this game will bring.
It just feels great. Passing the brush on the canvas feels very realistic on the heavier brushes you can tell there is weight and it feels perfect I love the way you can move the canvas higher or lower depending on how you are playing and there is even a crouch button which I constantly use when playing seated the dev is also very kind and I have had a few chats with them on their discord! Overall everything is wonderful and I reccomend this to anyone who wants to learn how to paint and is limited by supplies irl or someone who loves to paint and just wants to explore
Good painting .. more please. First, thank you developers for the fun painting. It is good app. I like it. Few suggestions to make more user-friendly and easy to use if possible. All the painting tools brushes can placed or hang or floating above the small table on the right hand side. Keep all tools and colors bucket in the same side on the right. The 3D models , shoe , flower pot are placed at the left hand side , reference image also is placed at the left hand side. The canvas is placed in the middle for easy to get all the tools from the right. And full view of the 3D models and the reference image in front of you on your left side. please allow to import reference image or video if possible. The 3D model can be used as the reference image. Better idea is to import an 360 image as reference image into the app if possible.
Can this painting app to do painting by numbers if possible, import a painting by number image and place onto the canvas surface to start painting by number for beginners if this is good idea.
Allow to easily change the size of the brush and erase, more differences brush if possible.
Please continue to add more idea or options or functions and more improvements into this app. Thank you and keep up the great work.
