Best zombie title,best value (updated). (2024, update review. These guys are amazing, still making updates & improvements still. I look forward to trying the new mix reality uodate, seems very cool. Wish other companies invested as much time and pride into their games,keep up the great work team! )
If you are looking for an old school “doom” game, this is it! So you are looking for a zombie game & wondering what is right to spend your hard earned £ on. The only ones that are comparable are “arizona sunshine”, of course you can read the reviews & press play & see the graphics as that is what I’d advised. Okay, now you have seen the min or so preview of “ A S”, it has a different feel, a bit more colourful ( you may like that as death horizon is purposely dark/gloomy/bunker feel ) . Also, value for £, you can’t say a thing wrong about “death horizon” I wrote a review over a year ago & re wrote it 2021 dec as they are still making impressive updates. The 2 player mode, that a superb experience. It is very intense and you &.a friend will be shouting at one another to watch out as a zombie is behind you or you will be looking for secret rooms. So much fun!
“zombieland & “drop dead..” both are great but they are arcade shooters. Screen moves & you have great fun blasting zombies. I prefer “zombieland” over “ dropdead..” but it is irrelevant as i am assuming you are comparing like with like when it comes to gameplay.
Thank you to the devs as everything I asked for, theyadded & I am looking forward to anything else that they make & would support them as they are very loyal to us!
Mixed reality update is great. Only complaint is that rounds get predictable, would be nice if you could randomize levels so it gets a little more chaotic and stays fresh after a few play sessions
QUEST 3 Enhancements on the way. I can not WAIT to see the Quest 3 enhancements! The devs for this game are on FIRE! Litteraly got a Quest 3 update 2 days after the headsets release
The Devs are simply amazing, always updating their games, making them better... they put so much energy and effort into always improving the game. You guys rock

My Quick Thoughts:
Death Horizon was in my TOP 3 games on the Oculus GO. It's now available on Quest with much improved gameplay mechanics and gameplay. This game can be spooky at times, the shooting mechanics are solid and the game has a really great atmosphere. In fact at times I felt like I was playing a Half Life game. Death Horizon is the perfect game for shooter and horror fans and my favorite type of genre in VR. Awesome stuff!

Great first game. I just got Quest 2 last week with the Black Friday deals on Amazon and this is one of the first games I bought. Who hasn't dreamed of killing zombies in VR? Great first game and it isn't too hard. Mechanics are great and it is a great first game to get used to the Quest's controllers and motions. Definitely recommend and worth the money.

For when mixed reality?. 🕹️ Years ago you bought a cartridge to play 16 -bit games and what you check is. Today the games come out and depend on the updates. Is good or bad? That is not debate today. The point is that I have bought this game because the game is good and I think the developers are working on it making it better and better (graphic improvement Quest3). I had doubts between this title and another zombie title and mixed reality that is out there, but I have opted for this, because the base game in virtual reality seems better to me and I hope it soon incorporates the mixed reality. That would be great joy for me. Have I equicated? Do developers bring us the joy of a good mixed reality with zombies with red eyes in our own room? I hope so
What an Awesome Experience. 1st I just have to say thanks to the developers of this game for making a super cool game and also the level of engagement and taking feedback from fans. I've never in my life (of 45 years) seen a team so responsive and genuine. Way to keep it (virtually?) real. It's nice to see. With that said my buddy got a quest 2 and this was the game he decided to show me for my 1st VR game. He didn't tell me anything about it or the title. Just put on the goggles, take the handhelds and off you go.
So I make it to the 1st room when the 1st zombie comes at you and just about poop my pants, swinging the melee weapon around yelling bad words. I had to take the headset off and regroup. I'd never played anything like this before. So I let the zombies eat me a couple times to be able to assure myself I'm not going to get hurt (irl) if they rush me later on.
10 minutes later I'm dual welding pistols, one handing a AR, and bludgeoning heads with steel pipes like a madman. Sweat pouring off my bald head and laughing out loud because I'm having an absolute blast. 3 days later I bought an Oculus Quest II and this game.
Now that I've played it more often and gotten used to being in VR I still love it. There are a few complaints I have, nothing that should lower the games rating. Sometimes a zombie will spawn behind me. I can be in a closet with only 1 entrance and all of a sudden dudes gnawing at the back of my neck. I scream and shoot and look around for any place of entry. Maybe I'm overlooking something but it's like he comes through the wall. Then I get paranoid and can't stop looking around.
Also, I'd like to see more variety of weapons. A desert eagle, 9mm, 357 magnum.... I wanna have different pistols but that's totally wishful thinking on my part. An Mp5, ump, Mac 10 would also be cool. Which brings my biggest gripe... Ammo. You and I both know putting a gun in a holster does not magically put more bullets in the clip. This is the biggest part of the game that ruins my immersion. But in reading reviews I see manual reload will be available in a future update. So rather than rate 4 stars I'm giving you the 5rh star with the confidence that I'll be reloading manually sometime in the near future.
This is a great game with great execution and a high level of immersion. Anyone saying anything different is clearly an idiot don't listen to them. They just want attention.

Update: now playing further into the campaign there are more guns than I originally thought, including the Desert Eagle. And the manual reload imo was exactly what this game needed to be perfect as far as I'm concerned.
Update 2: it's been almost 3 years since the 1st time I put on a VR headset and stepped into horizon labs to shoot zombies. What was an amazing 1st VR experience and my kick in the pants to buy a quest 2 has only been more polished and gotten even better since then. Now playing on quest 3 the game is stable as a mountain and smooth as river rock. It's a perfect example of a game done the right way, with attention to detail and a studio that truly listens to they're fans and critics. There are not enough good things to be said for this game. I would love to see a mixed reality mode which I hear is in development. These guys don't just say things, they deliver what they say so I know we will have that in the future. The only thing I want from this game that isn't available is a full body avatar. It's not a huge deal but I would love an actual body and not disembodied hands on a floating gun belt. The game is so polished and optimized that the lack of a full body avatar almost seems out of place. It's like saying this game is above disembodied hands. But that ALONE is my 1 and only gripe with this title. The issue I had where zombies were spawning behind we was actually just me not knowing they dropped from the ceiling tiles in my VR toddler stage. So my bad on that one. Anyway, thanks devs! Wishing you guys an awesome new year and much deserved success in the future.
Best game I have played. I love going around in a building just to kill zombies especially Ogrin the boss fight is the best part of the entire game but I do feel like the game needs EVEN MORE GUNS 🔥🔥🔥

Brilliant fun. For what the game is right now graphically it’s not bad at all. I suspect the developers are busy improving the graphical fidelity for the Oculus Quest 2 as I’ve just bought the headset myself.
Onto the main part, this game is nothing but pure fun. The gunplay is absolutely brilliant, I literally cannot put the game down at all, it is that addictive!
Looking forward to seeing what the developer does next and potentially bring new games to the Oculus App Store.

An an update to my existing review, I very recently bought a Quest 3, result for this game? Pure perfection for a shooter! I hadn’t played the game for a little while and noticed a few more guns had been added. Keep it up Dream Dev Studio, you’ve got a little gem here!!
