In Bocce Time! you'll head down to a peaceful park or atmospheric pier to test your bocce skills across 12 distinct courts. Jump into a quick match to 1v1 a random opponent online, create and join private rooms with up to 8 players, or play against AI across 3 difficulties to unlock additional ball customization options. With full cross-play, everyone's invited to join the fun! It's Bocce Time!
Bocce ball is an ancient and simple game about getting your balls closest to the target. Players throw out a small ball called a pallino and then up to 4 teams take turns trying to get their balls closest to it, blocking, knocking, and blasting each others' balls in the process.
The pallino can land anywhere in bounds and every ball can impact the others, resulting in an ever shifting playing field where the target can change with every throw. It's easy to learn, but difficult to master, and when millimeters can make the difference between defeat and victory, individual skill really shines!

Legit. Great game! Like another reviewer said, if you like Walkabout Mini Golf you’re going to really like this. Looking forward to future updates with possible add on courses to purchase. Would be cool if you could overlook the entire park with a huge head like in Walkabout. Thanks for giving me yet another great game to completely annihilate my family members and friends! 5 stars goose :)
Fun app to lose yourself in with friends. I was looking for something new to try and thought I'd give this a go. While the mechanics took a little trial and error at the start and I only had the most basic understanding of how to play Bocce, I now thoroughly enjoy playing this that I've recommend this app to my husband and we enjoy a competitive game to 11 on one of the pier courses after some WalkAbout.
I found the trash talking NPC when I first started playing the app by myself highly amusing and this encouraged me to do better.
I highly suggest this to anyone who likes WalkAbout or Arcade Legend!
Poor sounds. Obnoxious bots. This looked like it could be a fun game but once I opened it and tried a game, I knew I'd be refunding it. Released in mid-2022 and no updates since is a sign of a game that's just been abandoned and left to languish in the store with no updates or improvements. Always look at the release date before buying a game and see how many Updates are mentioned on the store page. If none, the game was left to rot.
I think developers don't realize the effect that good sounds can bring to a game. The sound when the ball hits the ground, another ball, or object seems carelessly implemented. Just some lightweight tick sound that kills the immersion for me. This app is very bare bones aesthetically and physics wise and carries a price in line with some very polished games in the real Meta shop. I'm all about supporting development, but only if the game has some kind of path forward. Not a basic version that's dumped in the store and never updated or refreshed.
If you are a single player person, there are bots to play against that talk trash. I didn't see a way to shut that off so that was a dealbreaker. I'm a casual gamer and taunting whether from other players or bots is poor form. As an option? Fine. But having that forced on you? No thanks.
Promising and priced right? 4.7/5. This seems cool but needs that last bit of polish. It's about the right price, but I might suggest dropping it a bit when releasing to the main store (definitely release it as you will make grips of cash and get lots more feedback / motivation), to keep the reviews & player base high, then going the DLC route.
I played one game against the bot, and here is my initial impression: First, the menu area felt low-res and pixelated, while the arena felt a bit more antialiased and smooth. Not sure what's up with that, but I would suspect some optimization would enable higher resolution (foveating?). This should also be 90 Hz no problem. Second, the bot's voice is obnoxious after awhile. It's ok, but maybe a vocoder effect to make it a bit less like a random midwest dude or having a few characters (there is an option to silence it). I noticed that whenever I threw, the ball went a bit rightward from where I felt my hand was swinging (?), and I couldn't really figure out how to spin it and tried flicking my wrist as I would with a real bocce ball in all different eccentric ways. Turns out you have to enable spin in settings; surprised that isn't the default or part of an introductory set of questions (e.g. handedness, spin preference, avatar, etc). Finally, I'm not sure why, but watching the balls land and interact, it didn't quite feel right. I think this was mostly about the bot's backspin and how it landed; it had some polygon overlap with the floor that looked weird. It's fine, but maybe you could add a bump map and texture that evolves as the balls hit the dirt, making little dents and discoloration?
Other than this, the framerate was buttery smooth and I started to correct my throw to get the ball to go more in the direction I wanted (with zero spin, no matter what :). I rarely keep games but I will keep this one, and maybe get it for my friends. Has the friendly feel of walkabout (high compliment!) but will not hold my attention as long. But it's priced to keep and will be a nice change of pace!
Feature request: A second ring for the next closest team (counting points) or highlighting point balls somehow?
Excellent physics and multiplayer. I use games like this to visit with my kids who live in a different state and we used to play bocce ball in person so it was a no-brainer to get this. The gameplay was excellent and we had a blast. There are several obstacle type courses to make things challenging as well as a very large standard play field and then a large open yard with even more fun obstacles. Thank you devs!! Some ideas for future... I hope you expand. How about a course on the moon with craters and low gravity or one underwater with sea creatures and water currents to navigate and use. A golf course with large rolling hills and sand traps, maybe water hazards.
Great game. Multiplayer - check Plain language instructions - check Smooth and responsive - check Lots of variety - check Price point - double check Playability - check Bots that are not annoying - check I've never played bocce IRL - this is fun!
Just buy it. Up until recently I thought there was only one game on my Quest 2, which was Walkabout Mini Golf but Bocce time has recently been splitting my time away from WMG. It's such a simple concept which has been executed superbly and is just so easy to pick up and play. What also makes it great fun, just like WMG is the social aspect, it's such a competitive game but you will have many laughs with other players. As an added bonus Bocce is cheap and excellent value, way better than many things on the actual Meta store.
You should play this! Simple to play, great for socialising or if you have a competitive nature you will certainly enjoy the competition. The game is already good with a variety of areas to play and to improve your skills I can only imagine that it is going to be massive with leagues galore. Don’t wait get it now whilst you still have a chance of winning against me (lol).
Casual, Social Competition. Pretty Envs. At the time of this review there are currently 12 different courses, with 6 courses being in each of the 2 parks. Different surfaces, angles, and obstacles make each one a unique challenge. Super easy to play, but difficult to master. The game is at it's best when played with others! Grab a friend or 3 and hop in for an absolute blast!
If you don't have someone to join you, the Bocce Time! discord is one of the most welcoming I've been in. People are always around for games and hanging out. Very wholesome and welcoming. https://discord.gg/kUmaZZD7HD Get in here!
Love it! No two games are the same. Absolutely love it! I love that every game is different. The only recommendation I have is that the power can be adjusted a little bit more. Even on max power for us older people it's a little bit hard to throw the ball a long distance. Other than that this game is a hit. If anyone's wondering you can play 2, 3 or 4 players.
Awesome social game. Bocce is an amazing game to play with friends and have loads of fun. Love the 2 courts with so much variety of challenges. Great graphics, easy to use. I really like having your own avatar now. The Dev 's discord channel is great arranging games and join in tournaments. Highly recommend Bocce time to ask my friends. Great alternative if you want to play something different but just as social as WMG. Really should be available in the Mets Oculus Store!!! It's that good!
Great Game for Hanging Out. Bocce Time reminds me of Walkabout Mini-Golf and the ForeVR games in that it offers a well-known fun irl game in a beautiful setting where you can hang out with friends as you casually play. The game feels realistic and the multiple courses offer different challenges to master. An added bonus is you can compete one on one or play in teams.
The tournaments that are set up by the developer through Discord are a great way to meet others, but it is easy to set up your own private game with friends as well.
I fully recommend this game to everyone who enjoys social gaming. It is incredibly well done.
