An alright ratty puzzle game. This games story is alright for the most part but at the beginning it was really hard to tell what the mechanics for the game were. Though the story was an alright one, I would recommend having a little bit of a better tutorial at the start of the game so the player knows what to expect and they know what are the mechanics. Overall it’s a great puzzle game that really has you thinking and looking all around you.
this might be a bit cheesy... this game didn't a-maze me. I felt a bit trapped while playing it. I didn't really understand the tail at all. sorry to rat the developer out. It is a fun little shooting gallery but it currently does a poor job explaining mechanics and the story. I could see a finished version with some quality of life improvements being good fun.
If you hate rats and love slingshots. Interesting game, you pretty much just kill rats to stop yourself from becoming a furry (accurate) and you use a slingshot to do it, art style is nice. I have only 2 complaints; the movement is very limiting and the way it’s presented is rather un-immersive in my opinion, and why do rats do in particular that stops furries? I’m confused. 4 stars for fun gameplay and nice art style but confusing narrative and not very diabetic ui (aren’t a big of issue though)
Fun beautiful action puzzle game! The game looks beautiful! I love the graphics, the puzzle and shooting is solid, It still a bit rough around the edges with some glitches here and there which is to be expected as it still being tweaked and fixed, I guess for me the one big flaw is you have to warp to move around and I’m more into free roam walking with the joysticks or for real in VR but that’s just how the game is maybe that will change in the future, The second thing would be choosing your abilities it’s kind of clunky it’s not smooth I would rather have a different button combo maybe to choose abilities for faster reaction time, Other than it being a bit short on levels it’s a fun solid game with cool boss battles as well.
Well Done. Visually this game is very well done. The puzzles were interesting and the rats is a good touch. If you like puzzle games then you would love this one. The one thing that can be improve on is the tutorial/story, they were quick to throw you in and I was a bit confused on what to do in the beginning. Overall really well done.
Rat killer simulator. Probably one of the most unique vr games on the market and a must play for any puzzle enthusiasts.
Game as a whole feels very polished and runs very well on quest 2. With little to no direction on what to do this is definitely not the most simple game I have ever played. It is nice however to see so me progression in the form of spells that turn your slingshot on fire. Definitely lots of fun to be had in this game can say so for its replay ability and dlcs would need to be added in the future to keep anyone playing it more than once. Apart from that it’s one of the best puzzle games yet and at a fair price.
Surprisingly Fun. I had alot of fun killing rats with a slingshot but first you have to find them before you are poisoned to death. I think a better tutorial would explain why the levels ends i think I have too much poison or time ran out not sure but the graphic on my arm ran out so back at it. Find and kill rats, it isnt explained well but kill pumpkin head rats and get more health to keep going longer. Complete the level to unlock a new level which may be killing more rats or could be a puzzle room or a boss level. Earning coin to upgrade your ammo or traps. The game is short but this is early access. I would like to see a reason to repeat a level like a getting a time or rating to beat otherwise there is no reason to play it again. It is a fun game the graphics are good, im not a fan of teleport locomotion but it works for what rhey are doing. Would like to see more levels as it is currently short, i wanted to keep going as it was fun
So Much Fun and Promise. Want More! The concept of an aiming shooter isn’t unique, but a slingshot with a barge rat theme ABSOLUTELY is. Rat-It is an amazing mix of first-person archery, mini games and hidden objects. All of these concepts complement each other extremely well to produce one of the best experiences I’ve had in VR. The animations and environments are highly detailed right down to the individual rats scurrying around, and there’s much more than meets the eye here. There’s also a healthy challenge with levels that ramp up the difficulty as you go; I just wish there were more of them!
Why isn’t it perfect? As of this review date the menus are a bit disorienting, where it’s not entirely clear what’s locked or not with the language used. Some of the menu text needs some minor cleanup as there were a few typos noticed. Aside from this I didn’t quite get a solid feel of what I was supposed to be doing until somewhere in level 2. The coughing and fog is a nice touch to add to the “transformation” effect, but again, it wasn’t entirely clear what was happening until a few levels in. Once it all clicks, though, the entire experience is AMAZING.
The most fun parts involve the challenges in between the open rat rooms, and this really helped to break up any monotony. Overall this game has both the wow and fun factor. Now I just want more levels and bosses!
Fun and addicting. This game reminded me of many things. It reminded me on Acron (being the tree) for the type of game play. The rats reminded me of the rats from the cartoon nutcracker. The animations are nice, love the guys with the pumpkins on their heads.
Loved the art style, the puzzles, and hidden chests. Looking for the rats I missed was fun as well.
I would give it a five, but some stuff was confusing. The story, and I didn't realize we had a health bar till the big boss. At first when the level wouldn't end but I had more rats left, I thought it was a bug, but it wasn't just had to hit things to find the hiding rats. No hint to look for the rats, just ran out of time.
Overall it was very fun to play, I look forward to seeing what else the devs do with it. Keep up the great work.
Needs Improvement, but it's close. A good game that need some overall improvements that are somewhat major. The movement isn't great. I would really like moving instead of teleporting, I know this would be hard to implement since a lot of rooms are based on this, and that you would need to change this as well since it would feel very weird with normal moving, but I'd say it's worth it. The slingshots sling rapidly flies everywhere every now and then, the story isn't clear and can't be understood by a normal player.
I experienced a bug where I no clipped through the floor, before this I left the game on during the night(turned the headset on standby mode though) and when pressing replay the game and the level restarted, I immediately fell through the floor. A game restart hasn't fixed this.
I don't like how I can't move with the slingshot in my hand, I have to put it away, move and then grab it again. It's kind of time consuming, especially when time is the entire point of the game.
Ignoring all the bugs and the movement, the game is great. The puzzles are tricky, but not to hard(if it wasn't for the flashlight in the dark, that made it seriously harder to spot things) the rats are also fun to shoot and this game is made with people who think, figure out and perform at the blink of an eye, in this game, hesitation is defeat.
Overall: The game needs to be polished to be enjoyable, but once it does get fixed and worked on, it would be an amazing game. I genuinely can't wait for it to get released on quest store officially and not on applab. Keep on working devs! This has serious potential.
Fun unique game with potential. The graphics are pretty cool and I felt very immersed. Shooting rats with a slingshot is unique and a lot of fun. The game does have some issues that need to be addressed though:
1. I believe there should be a short tutorial. I thought the game glitched because I wasn’t going anywhere. It turned out that I had to solve some puzzles to continue.
2. You are told a story when the game starts but there wasn’t much of a story and it didn’t make a lot of sense
3. I’m not a fan of teleportation but I see why this game uses it. The problem is, you can’t shoot the rats and teleport at the same time. It’s especially hard against the boss(s) which causes you you die because each level is timed
4. When trying to shoot rapidly, the sling shot goes wild.
5. Switching marbles is also tedious when trying to fight off the rats and boss(s)
Once the developers take care of the issues above, I think this game will be extremely fun. They will also need to add more levels so the game doesn’t be monotonous!
Great game needs some work. The game is fun and it’s pretty satisfying using the slingshot to take out the rats. However occasionally the slingshot will go wild especially if you try to shoot to quickly. I’m not a huge fan on teleport movement but it honestly didn’t bother me in this one. It is a little of a challenge at first finding all the rats which would be nice to have it explained better they could hid in cabinets. The boss battle was honestly a tad confusing. The game is fun however it is rather short.

Fun but a little repetitive. I love the style of this game, it reminds me a little of Sea of Thieves. Even though it is very stylised, it is very immersive with impressive lighting and high Res textures.
I really liked the puzzle elements of the little levels in-between the main room levels and wished there would be more of these.
The mechanic of using the slingshot to kill the rats is fun at first, but I found myself getting really annoyed when it takes around 8 shots to kill some of the rats with more health.
The main rat boss is extremely difficult to defeat due to poor game mechanics. You have to teleport to predetermined locations and the on screen prompt that allows you to do so gives you such a small margin of time before the boss attacks you with a fatal attack, that it was impossible for me to complete. This left me extremely annoyed at having to repeat the same fight over and over and getting nowhere.
My biggest gripe for the game would be that the health system mechanics aren't explained at all and there are no instructions on what you actually need to do once the game starts. After a few failed attempts on one of the levels I realised that the rats with the pumpkin head gives you more life (which equals time in this game), so it made more sense to not kill these straight away as no 'overhealth' is given.
I enjoyed my experience with this game but I don't think that it's one that I would be coming back to and replaying, although it would be fun to showcase to friends and family.
Great core, almost there. At the core of this game is a super fun concept that makes you feel like the Katniss Everdeen of pirates hunting rats in a wonderfully cartoon-ish ship. Grabbing the slingshot and sniping the rats from across the room can be really satisfying. The puzzles are unique and solvable, without being too easy.
However, this game does need some more polish before it's ready (the game is in early access as of writing this review). Here are the critiques I believe are relevant to this review:
- Lack of help/hints: there were a few times where I had no clue what the game wanted from me in order to continue. There was no real way to identify where the last rat or two are hiding without scouring the room corner to corner, which may result in running out of time. It was also hard for me to tell why the first door was locked, until I realized it was a puzzle.
- UI is a little "clunky": it just didn't feel intuitive to switch to different marbles and cancel shots when I needed to. Thankfully this is something that isn't a game breaker, because it's part of the polish phase and has little to do with gameplay at the core.
- Length of play: I'm not sure about plans to add more levels or different things to do, but at the moment the game feels a bit short. I feel like it's missing a "free range" or "arcade" mode where you can just practice your shooting.
All things considered, I think this game will be a blast when it is finished and would be worth picking up! If you like bow and arrow style games, this is for you. If you just enjoy a bit of arcade shooting and puzzles, this is for you.
Fun game but short. In this game you need to hunt small mice with your slingshot and solve small puzzles.
The different environments all look awesome but you can't really enjoy them, as there is only teleport movement.
Then slingshot feels realistic and you don't need to care about munitions as you have unlimited stones. Sadly you can't shoot very fast because you can't grab the rubber band from the slingshot.
This game all in all is great, but lacks at some part. For example the intro video is great, but you are just in a black void and the video isn't in 3D. Another thing is, that the circles, where you store your slingshot and other things are unnecessarily big and have a bad placement. This really breaks the atmosphere.
I hope you can now understand why I gave only 4 stars.
fun game. this game is fun but short here are some things i like about the game i like that it has a story its almost has if you're in a disney movie, great graphics i like that there are puzzles too , you can play sitting or standing up which is great for everyone. here are some things that i hope the Developers will fix the game is short i wish there were more levels, the light i wish there was an option to make it bigger its has if you're looking through a telescope and you cant see al, the good graphics. it would be nice to have the option for smooth turns. all in all this is a great game thats fun for everyone.
A decent game. I really like the art style of this game. It feels like an arcade game (in a good way) and has a good atmosphere.
There are some challenging puzzles, but not so hard that you get stuck. It was also really satisfying to shoot the rats that crawl around.
Even so, the game still feels unfinished, probably because it is unfinished. I had some problems with the flashlight feeling too high up; I almost got a headache because of having to look up all the time with my eyes.
