Amazing game, super helpful devs. The graphics on this game are amongst the best I've seen. There is a good narrative and gameplay is fun. Definitely worth the buy.
If you have any problems with it you cant figure out, just go to the devs discord page and ask for help. Someone there, either a dev or another player will respond fairly rapidly.
The game overall has worked fine for me but i encountered a problem using virtual desktop with my quest 2. The game menu would pop up for a moment whenever I pushed the X button. And the steam home would show even though I bought the game on the oculus store. I went on the devs discord and they helped me fix the problem. Turns out the issue was the virtual desktop app. Virtual desktop was using the wrong runtime file for some reason when opening Hubris even though it was set to automatic. I went into the windows desktop application for virtual desktop and changed the setting to use open xr instead of selecting the runtime file automatically. That fixed my problem and after that I was able to fully enjoy this fantastic games without any issues.
REAL LIFE GRAPHICAL SHOOTER! This game was STUNNING. The graphics are so sharp and detailed that it literally looks like real life. The reflections, shadows, and effects were all AMAZING. The shooting and mini puzzles were a lot of fun and very well done as well. There were some parts where the pacing was irregular and too little or too much action on one section. Some parts were overly challenging, like the part where you need to maneuver a vehicle for a long time which really stressed me out. Overall though, it’s one of the most realistic graphical shooting games ever. Highly recommend!
Wonderful Story Driven VR Game. Hubris is definitely one of the better VR games to come out in recent years, it has a good variety of features/mechanics and a decent length campaign. Story isn't like...breathtaking or filled with lore to the point of book deals or anything, but it's not some cheap space fanfic. It has enough lasting potential for a sequel, perhaps a spinoff in the same universe even.
The mechanics are quite nice, your player body might not be a full IK ragdoll which, in a parkour oriented game, took some getting used to (about 20 minutes worth) but once i got into the motions, it came naturally. This game has feelings and motifs that remind me of other quite fun games, the parkour + shooting feels just like Stride wheras the overall story and gameplay is in the same ballpark as the Star Wars games by ILMxLAB, in particular Tales From the Galaxy's Edge. This is far from bad though as that game was very fun, despite its flaws. Hubris is every bit as fun as those types of games but with far more polish, though I should note there were some annoying bugs.....but those are easily fixed with patches~
I of course has some qualms with the game, not enough to denote a rating hit as it wasn't that bad, but most - if not all - of the problems I had could easily be fixed by the devs. A few bugs with climbing and one large bug that occured on occasion where the dialogue would break causing the need to reset were about the worse I'd come across in my playthroughs, nothing that caused the game to break or hours to be lost. I also wasn't a big fan of the reload as I love to make sure my guns are always topped off when possible so a reload button would be nice, however from other reviews this current version sounds much better than it used to be!
Shooting was very smooth and the story length was acceptable, an extra mode with a minigame or a wave shooter might be a nice post-story activity but I still definitely enjoyed the game and will surely replay it sometime in the future. <3

Maybe its ya'lls pc's... This game is beautiful and runs great on my rig (rtx 3090 I-9 12700 cpu 32gb ram) I've not had a single climbing issue, this is a High resoulution game echos of Half life Alyx and Asgards wraith. A mid to low end PC is gonna run this game janky. Beef up your PC's rewrite reviews. Way to go devs your first step into VR is a HOMERUN in my book make more games or add more to Hubris PLZ! Update: Okay I agree the reload system is lame would ratherr manually reload the gun holding the gun up to your head gets annoying after a bit.
This is not ok. Up until today I never got the chance to play Hubris but I heard a lot of good stuff about the graphics so I had some extra time today and figured id give it a shot.
After downloading it I tried to launch it in Virtual Desktop and instead of launching the game, a window came up telling me to turn on OpenXr. I thought that was werid, out of the countless PCVR games I played it never asked me to do that but ok, no big deal, I take off the headset and turn it on. Then I try and relaunch the game and the window comes up again. and again and again and again.
Finally, I tried to launch it through the Oculus home. This time the game launched but I couldn't play more then a minute because the whole world was warping, worse then I have ever seen. It looked like it was zooming in and out with a fish eye lens.
I tried to relaunch it a few times as well as do some other stuff but no matter what I did I could not get it to run well. My PC has a i9 and 3070 btw so the specs should have been ok. It's sad to see a game with such potential be ruined by preventable problems.
Awesome fun for a casual gamer. Set the level to novice (I think), and then just enjoy practically everything! For the casual gamer, at this level, just enough challenge to keep you on your toes, but not too much so you give up. Graphics, shooting, driving, swimming, story-line - all excellent. It is vital however, as you go thru each area to collect, hunt for, as many resources as possible, to make as much "health juice" as possible when you have the chance - don't be concerned about it taking long - does not affect game. Ditto loading resources into the machine that upgrades guns. For the final level, the 30 round machine gun is absolutely necessary to take out the guy with the heavy-duty ray.

Graphics are pretty good but.... That's where it stops sadly. I so wanted to like this game but there are too many things wrong. Sometimes you just cannot grab a climbing ledge for some unknown reason like your hand just has no material presence. Also very annoyingly you cannot rotate your camera view while climbing to reorient your virtual body which makes climbing VERY cumbersome and tediious. The actual shooting is very bland with slow plodding enemies that either just sit still and let you shoot them or are these fat body bugs that just slowly walk towards you. The reload mechanic is just poorly done too. Why do I have to hold my gun to my forehead to reload it?? Who thought that was a good idea? (hint* no one ever) Like almost anything would be better than that. Let us insert a mag or prime the barrel or just let it recharge on it's own the holding the gun to the side of your head is just ridiculous.
Then there's the voice acting....oh my. I know they probabl;y had a small budget but I haven't heard voice acting this bad since the original Resident Evil game. The "actors" sounds like they were just reading a script and at most gave it one or 2 takes then called it a day. Absolutely horrible and wooden performances. I could forgive this if the rest was better but man, what a swing and a miss.
A great game! I've rewritten my review for patch 1.9. The AI was previously total crap, but now it's much better. Alot is being done to fix issues with this game! But there is still room for improvement and I will discus that later!
It's fairly descent as it is right now, so go get it!
a graphical wonder let down by poor a.i. easily one of the best graphics with iconic locations and environments! all of that has already been said and needs to be seen to believe...
but it scores low on the ai front...they are just plain dumb and predictable in paths and robotic in action. there is sooo much potential in this game is only they can create a much better enemy. make them plan attacks, have the drones come in lower to level and shoot through windows etc. enemies should communicate and cordinate attacks not just drive in in troves. they should see a gun peeking around the corner, have death sound effects that could be heard to confirm kill from afar and behind wall. they need vertical combat, scaling up and down buildings to suprise player etc.
the length of the campain is okay - wish there was a little multiplayer in there to keep coming back to the game! co-op would be really nice... but at least pvp in that cryptonite jungle
this game easily has the potential to change its rank amongst the most iconic vr games today - i hope they can seriously sort out what was addressed and watch this game sky rocket!
Hubris a vr epic with a few minor flaws. i have been playing Hubris for a week or so now and i have to say i am impressed visually it is stunning definitely one of the best games i have seen in terms of beautiful graphics surpassed only by perhaps one or two other games. The gameplay is great with the exception of a few problems such as occasionally janky climbing mechanics and having my arms go squirrelly for a sec or two especially while trying to access the inventory.The enemies aren't particularly bright but they do shoot straight so use of cover is recommended.Also down the sight aiming does not seem to be particularly accurate so I perfer the machine gun and spray and pray but thats me. Overall i would highly recommend Hubris as a great VR experience.
Great game so far! All in all I had a great experience so far, It has everything a VR game needs.
Loading screens on the same map could have been implemented a bit differently, but this way is still better than limiting movement speed. Also it would be nice if item menu could stay open until I lower my hand.
Graphically awesome. So after a few hours in the game, yes the hype over the graphics are real. Does look very good. The voice acting so far could be better but then something a lot of games don't do that well. But it's fine. The combat doesn't feel that engaging so far. But hopefully let's see how it improves later into the game. I do like the climbing and platforming parts. They work well. Will revise the score when I finish it but so far a solid 4 out of 5.

Buggy. It's kind of fun and the graphics are nice but why is there no option to restart from checkpoint? You can only reload a buggy save or use chapter select and lose all your inventory..
Edit: updated to three stars since the developers do truly seem to care but it is too late for me unfortunately. I had used the chapter select and my saves are confirmed gone.
4 stars because of bugs. i just started to play, and i like it very very much, it offers the atmosphere of a science fiction game, that i was missing!! till now: either too fast, nor too ennoying. thank you for this product, and praised be virtual reality! :-) and so far: bugs occured by level-loading (not fluid), and left hand is not turning with the body, after steering the first vehicle. patch will change my rating :-)
Very enjoyable. Really shows off what VR can do, great graphics, love the stone textures and all the detail. Some great shoot out action too. Does have a number of bugs. Game seemed to crash out completely sometimes when shooting the mines. As soon as they exploded bang black screen, no more game. Seemed to lose movement of the left controller using the rift-s maybe once and hour or two. In game warning screen comes up which you can close by holding down a button for two seconds. Got stuck behind objects a couple of times. That said no bugs that were not fixed by restarting the game. Over all the game is very good, well done developers!
dont buy. this game is so bad no food for health anywhere for long periods of time and when you die your health doesnt reset so you find yourself stuck on a level with 1% health no food and 20 ppl to kill that can kill you with one shot and even when you do have full health they can kill you with 2 shots even on the easy setting and dont even get me started with the glitches this game need some serious work done on it witch is sad because i like it but playing it makes me angry
