Don't drink the Kool-Aid. I do not play this game anymore. Not only is it completely broken, the devs just… I’m honestly not sure what they’re doing. Instead of fixing problems they just keep adding more and more nonsense….. the game has completely transformed from what it once was, into a strange amalgamation.
Why would the devs continue to add a bunch of convoluted stuff when you could take what you already have, and perfect it? Fixing problems is not on the Devs priority list. Game breaking and a bugs that have been around for literal years go unfixed. But they can add a level builder?! Come on now.
Gun Raiders is by far a better game. Honestly Pop One sucks in comparison to Gun Raiders, Contractors and Pavlov. It’s the worst shooter out of all of them, by a long shot.
On top of all that, the Pop One community is kind of delusional. Very strong Cult-like vibes. A cult of personality, if you will. There are people that have been playing this for years that say it’s the end-all-be-all greatest game ever, that refuse to even try another game. It’s very strange. Almost like they’re addicted to it.
Don’t drink the kool-aid.
There are better games. Give them a try.
I regret giving this company my money.

ポピュレーション・ワン Population Oneはvrで作られた最高のゲームだと思います。

Population One. Population one is the best game ever made in vr that's my opinion yes there are a few things that need to be fixed but nothing is perfect except this game just wished we could have a clan tag that can be changed when ever you clan up
Was great til F2P. I honestly want my money back now that they've gone F2P. Like any F2P game on the quest, it's now littered with little kids that have no business using a quest. (Minimum age is supposed to be 12.) Devs realized their business plan was a bust so followed somebody else's, which is make money off of little kids begging their parents for in game currency for skins in their "free game."
Pretty nice. Recently made free so definitely worth picking up. It unfortunately went the way of many vr games and now has an abundance of little children who definitely shouldn't be playing (Thanks, Quest 2). It's pretty fun though, and is definitely a can't-miss now that it's free.
Horribly unbalanced. Fun flying and guns, but the gun ablance is awful and as soon as you learn them the devs change how they shoot and damage. You heave to relearn it all again and you get crushed. Meanwhile there 's always one gun they balance so it's so overpowered that 0% of players use it. There are also agredious bugs and dumpster fire exploits that seem to be fine with the devs. Headpeaking is a gamebraking mechanic that enables someone to shoot the top damaging guns one handed while hanging behind an obstacle and you barely can hit them back unless you have one specific gun, which you wont have. It's awful and most people stop playign this game after a week or so. I'd met so many people then they just gave up. finally, so did I. The dev team simply doesn't learn. They just want to churn out new skins and cater to veterans. New and casual players can go f themselves.
Best Battle Royale in VR. Pop1 is the best Battle Royale game in VR. If you are transitioning from traditional PC FPS games look no further. The game play and graphics are a lot more fluid than other FPS games available, espically if you play with questlink/airlink. The guns, flying, and building mechanics are a lot of fun. The Pop1 community on the whole is awesome!
BigBox puts out enough skins and updates to keep the game interesting. But just as imporant, they seem to be weeding out the toxic players. Initially there was a decent amount of cheating and harrasment, but that has dropped off significantly in the last year.
I keep trying out other games, but so far this reigns supreme. If you don't like FPS/Battle Royale games then go get something else :-) A decent amount of the reviews are outdated regarding specific guns and glitches as the game is constantly changing and evolving. There are a lot of fabulous tutorials available on YouTube to help you learn how to play, best practices, game settings, and squad tactics. The community is rapidly growing on Twitch, Facebook, and TikTok as well. Come join the fun!
Best game in a generation. I had stopped playing games until I got my Quest 2 over 18 months ago and my interested was reignited.
POPULATION:ONE has been at the centre of that for me - the mechanics of being able to climb and fly, the gun characteristics to learn (and relearn when new guns are introduced) - all amazing and on another level to any other game I've ever played.
Above all of that though is the social scene - I've met some amazing friends through this game and genuinely gain a sense of euphoria when we manage to pull back from certain death to a win or a massive clutch pays off!
Amazing!
Even better ifs: It would be good for the devs to be more visible with published roadmaps and more regularly updates to keep the game fresh (e.g. Metro Royale was an amazing addition!). +There have been some long running bugs that need to be fixed (nothing that gets in the way of game but is a bit of joke to have not fixed them by now)
Lot of fun but…. Lot of fun its a BR where you get better from round to round, its learning by doing. In Squad you need comunication. Its a really good BR. Its like… you know… Fortnite VR. But there 3 things i dont like that much. I wish there would be a Solo mode again ciz atm there only TDM and BR squad. The AWP sniper: i hate how the devs make the scope of the sniper in other games like Onward, Pavlov, Contractors or Into the Radius is the Sniper scope normaly but here you scope is like the old CoD scopes and that sucks and i wish there would be a Virtaul gunstock. And its sad that theres not realy an event. Sure you can get Christmas or Halloween skins but i miss that there nothing happening on the map. But its a good game

Hands down best VR game so far. Pop 1 is a leader in VR gaming. The mechanics are incredible. There's tons of replayability. Big Box continues to produce new content to keep players coming back. Some people like to complain that the game isn't perfect but it's typically something you can chalk up to their passion for the game.
good game but..... gonna give my honest review of the game pros: 1. the gun play is fun and unique 2. there are a bunch of guns and you will always have one that fits you 3. graphics are unique for a vr game 4. there are a whole bunch of cool people too meet 5. nearly constant updates 6. rp (rank points) was removed 7. the comp scene is fun
so why one star, well here are the cons: 1. there are a-lot of very unbalanced guns 2. way to many glitch's 3. servers are not good you can have certain ones off and still get put in them 4. the community is decently toxic (but there a-lot of non-toxic people) 5. the higher tier competitive scene is incredibly toxic (still a-lot of fun to play in) 6. the devs do not fix that many glitches (there is still the jump glitch which has been in since the beginning of the game) 7. the devs don't nerf unbalanced guns, or they take way to long to nerf them (I was a akm user and even I know it should have been nerfed a long time ago) 8. the devs don't really listen to the community that often (there are only 2 that I ever see even want to talk to there community) 9. the devs take too long to fix glitch's and bug 10. the devs focus too much on adding new content the fixing everything else 11. the devs need to deal with a-lot of hate all the time so its probably hard for them too do all this (but that does not mean they should ignore the community) 12. matadors have not been nerfed (its been like 4 months now) and that's my completely honest review
I can only hope it will get better after they remove quest support this coming month, thank you big box for having to deal with this toxic comunity but please just listen to us
STOP REVIEW BOMBING THE GAME. This game is fantastic. People complain about ending Quest 1 support forgetting that the Quest 1 was holding this game back or the new Locked & Loaded update just because it's something different. I make a living off this game, this game has gotten me friendships I wouldn't have without it. It's given my online career meaning. People need to wake up and realize change is good. I work with BigBox constantly with updates, bugs, etc. They are not lazy money pigs everyone says they are. They're a group who are determined to make a game that you come back to, not because it's a cash grab, but because it's truly fun. Take it from a gal who's been playing for almost 2 years now. Give BB a chance and stop review bombing the game just because its changing. This ain't VRChat.
Best Multiplayer VR Game. I started playing Pop1 in October of 2020, and I haven't been able to find any other game that I enjoy as much since then.
Movement: There's no teleportation movement, but this is as to be expected in a multiplayer game. You can climb anything and fly everywhere as promised, and it feels AMAZING. The movement in almost every other game feels bland and slow once you play Pop1 for a while.
Graphics: As of the date of this review the graphics aren't great, as Pop1 was built for the Quest 1/2 before being built for PCVR, but this might change soon with the dropping of the Quest 1. Also, if you normally have issues getting high FPS on games, Pop1 is very optimized and will likely run very well.
Gameplay: Being able to fly around a varied map with varied weapons, teammates, and enemies leads to a lot of replayability and fun. There's a HUGE skill cap on Pop1, meaning that you can play for a very long time and still improve every time you put on the headset. I personally like this, as even though it means you can go against very skilled enemies you can also become a skilled player yourself.
Bugs: There are some bugs in Pop1. Most are only visual (dead enemy ragdolls acting weird, gun crosshair showing as the wrong color), but some can potentially make a bigger impact, like comms not working (very rare) or guns not reloading properly. These issues are, for the most part, pretty rare, and they tend to impact all groups the same, maintaining the competitive integrity of the game.
Social: Pop1 was one of my first social VR games, and it really stood out. As an OG player I've noticed a bit of a decline in the quality of the playerbase over time with the number of younger kids getting VR, but for the most part your teammates will still be pretty fun people to play with. After playing for about 1.5 years I've grown a friends list hundred of people long, all of whom I can rely on to be quality teammates.
Was Greatest VR Game, But Gone Down Hill. I've played since launch, I loved this game. I don't mind change, and changes have been made. But I feel the changes have left me no longer looking forward to playing. The new ranking system, based on individual performance leads to skewed game matches due to the fact its team based and not individual based game, and often times you get matched with opponents far better skilled. You can't really rank on individual performance when you play in squads. I also believe hacking is rampent, don't know how you hack a VR game but things like people zooming in on your location when they should have no way of knowing where you are, people taking loads of bullets and not dying, seemingly transporting or going invisible, or teams seemingly landing with full health. I'm not a horrible player, but I'm not a Rambo God player either. Where I used to average a few kills a game, occasionaly get some wins, and games felt fun. Since the ranking system, I feel like I am dead 85% of the game. I'm just loosing interest because of it, and it's irrating because I truely loved playing this game but ever sense the ranking system it has become much less fun for me.
The ranking system needs to be worked on, probably should never have been implemented as it's ruined the game. The Devs need to look into if cheating is actually happening, and not just rub it off as someone dying and crying cheats because I've seen too many crazy things for it to just be coincidence and many of the people I've played wtih seem to agree.
As to Quest 1 loosing support thats not a big deal, lets move forward and be able to improve the game, we can't do that with Quest 1 needing support. So I agree with that decision. But if things don't get fixed, I won't be around playing when they are taking advantage of more powerful headsets. I will update my review when I feel differently about this game I've loved.
the game as it is today sucks. the game as it is today sucks. There is no player selection system that allows you to play a decent squad match. In every game you find yourself competing with people who spend their lives on the game, (obviously they don't have sex for physical or mental reasons), who takes away all fun and you understand that your aim is only to make them score ( obviously at the end of the month they will be paid I don't know ...). The only alternative is the deathmatch (hoping not to find 5 year olds or the custom ones hoping to have friends online. At the moment it is not worth buying it or spending a euro on this game.
BEST VR GAME. Population: one is easily my favorite VR game, and I have tried many. I bought pop1 on release day and have been grinding for almost the past two years now and only stopped to play one other game. Sure this game isn’t perfect and there’s quite a bit of things the developers could ad but that doesn’t matter too much. All in all of your looking for a shooter game this is probably for you.
Great Game, Terrible Support. This game is a TON of fun... When it works. Every time the game updates, PVP becomes completely unplayable on the Rift and Rift S (I don't know how it performs on Quests). The game disconnects, crashes, lags, boots you, or otherwise cannot perform. It will not allow you to interact with weapons, items, place cover, or communicate. More often than not, when we eventually spawn into the game the match has already started, and our characters are left within the zone, already being drained of health. Not uncommon that by the time we get into the match, we've died and our teammate(s) are left to their own. The pattern seems to be that the new patch makes the game unplayable, and it's only after a few weeks do things start to stabilize out and gameplay becomes steady enough to be fun.
This game is a TON of fun, by far the most fun I've had with any VR game in a very, very long time... When it works. From my experience, the Bot Battles don't seem to be as glitchy or broken after updates, so we'll stick to those and see if things eventually iron out, but the devs could use some QA before pushing patches.
Edit: Here I am, a year later. Still playing the game off and on. Big Box has done huge, huge improvements to their Quality Assurance - updates stull make the game difficult to play, but only for a short period of time. They've gotten much, much better at keeping the community up and running.
That being said... still, at best, a 3/5. Like most game developers, it seems their stance on game servers is "the cheaper the better". You WILL get killed by a shot that struck where you were standing 30 seconds ago. That guy that you've just run through with a sword is actually 50 feet down the road already. You may have dealt enough damage to the other player to kill him twice over, but his client-side hasn't seen that yet, and he will absolutely turn around and kill you before it registers.
Again, this game is a ton of fun when it works. But it just doesn't often enough.
This can be one of the best VR games out. When I first started playing everything was Awesome. The freedom of movement, the weapons, the gliding, and the fighting. Then they came out with an update. Then the Red Zone would be random on how far and how fast it made play area shrink. I've see it, with a full squad, take away 60 to 70% of the play area in one go. That was no fun when you always on the run and fight others. Then a newer update where they kind of fixed that. But they changed the P90 and the AKM where they are so difficulte to keep on target now. But they did fix the M60 where it is now easier to keep on traget. Also I really Love the new weapons. The duel Matadores, Uzis, Fal, and the RFD. Only the Uzis lack the power to kill without having to send several mags of round at your target to kill him. My favorite is the Matadores with the 4 rounds per fire and how quickly they reload. Plus they are just fun to reload. There is a solo battle but that is just against the robots. It would be great if there was solo battle against other players. Maybe in the next update. The things you, Mods, can do to make this a 5 star game again is Fix or UnFix what you did to the P90 and the AKM where they don't rise up so hard. Then slow down the Red Zone and shorten how area it takes away. You can do a sepparate Squads for those that want a quick game where the Red Zones takes away more area quicker and a slower one where it takes longer. Do I recommend this game? Heck YES. It is still an Awesome game that has Fantastic re-playablity. I've been playing for about 7 - 8 months and I still Love it.
needs solo. i play this game quite a bit and absolutley love it but there is one thing that could be added to get me and probably others to play more, solo. it can get quite annoying playing squads all the time and even with the team deathmatch ltm it can be annoying because of the amount of people and sometimes you will get an annoying screaming 9 year old in your game wich can be a pain. overal good games would definately reccomend playing
good game but. this game is one of the best games in vr period, so why not 5 stars. Well I would if the game was not so buggy it can become unplayable. you could probably go on listing ever single bug in the game at the moment and it would probably take 2 hours or more. This will be a great game once most of the unplayable bugs get fixed. Next there are no new event/game modes after 2 years of playing there has only been 2 uniqe events as I can remember, the dark pj red core, and light or dark event other than that its just a repeat of past events, and game modes also fallow this path with the 2 game modes we have not seen in forever solos, and war. Luckily we are getting war back but no news on solo, we just get team death match reloaded 203. Match making is a bit bad for new players but as the game gets bigger that will most defiantly be fixed . This game is a master piece being ruined by bugs, and we only get a major bug update once a month or 2. Big box is try to fix them i hope, but they need to push out more major bug fix updates instead of only updating the game when a event happens and what I mean by this is updates where we need to update the game not updates that are hidden. ps bigbox add more permanent gun please.
