Waiting for sequel. Good game, responsive and customisable controls but PC version seems to have been abandoned.
As others have said, locking content and having to repeat missions has caused me to walk away from this game several times. This is almost as annoying as micro-payements... DON'T DO IT IN THE SEQUEL!
In the developers words "Espire 1 is an original IP created through a shared love of stealth games like Metal Gear Solid and Splinter Cell."
In that repect, I think it does rather well while also adding it's own VR uniqueness to the mix.
While others have said the graphics & physics are bad, I don't have a Fanta soaked Wii U to backup their findings. I have an i7 10700 with a 2080Ti. It works fine if that helps as a guage. I would think an i5 and a mid to high graphics card of a similar age should have no problems. A 900 series card might be pushing it a bit though but the same could be said of most VR.
Bear in mind this NOT ALYX. It doesn't profess to be. This however doesn't stop it from being enjoyable fun. Take it for what it is. If you don't like it, get a refund.
Just Bad. I don't even know where to start with this one. It's literally years behind any other vr game to date, with awkward movement, boring mechanics, and an almost non-existant physics system. Levels are more irritating than challenging, and this game doesn't even feel like it belongs in the "stealth" genre. You can unload your weapon into the air and a few guys will move slowly toward you whereas when you drop a magazine 3 inches onto the ground, the whole army swarms toward you. Feels like a very unfinished beta with a lot to be desired, especially after the devs abandoned this already failiure of a game on the pc platform, and only provide updates for players on quest. Also, a Wii U with fanta poured into the vents could run these graphics. For godsakes, don't give these devs any more money than they have already stolen from people with their 50$ price tag, as if this is some cutting edge AAA game, when in reality, it needs to be free, because that price would reflect what this game really is; an unfinished tech demo.
Pretty Cool. ESPIRE is a sci-fi shooter game where you take the place as an Australian agent controlling a robot called Espire.
Pros: Pretty fun and has cool features/mechanics. Variety of weapons and hand-to-hand combat. Game is...sort of replayable? Fun climbing and shooting. Also there are "challenges" that you have to do before ascending to the next mission. It places you in a random map that you can select and you have a objective to complete before you can leave. (Hostage Rescue, Gathering Intel, Elimination, Climbing, etc.) Anyways, Pretty good game.
Cons: Super glitchy. Like, SUPER glitchy. There are countless glitches that I have experienced that I can name. (Game randomly going to menu screen while playing, hand stuck outside wall, falling outside map, score glitches in challenges mode, guns disappear from holster, etc.) Some features don't work when being initiated sometimes, too. It was a pretty good game nevertheless.
‼️-25%‼️Great discounted game. ✨https://tiny.pl/w6l4v✨ (discount link) Great story set in the future. We play the killer robot, which works great in VR. Anyone who likes action and sci-fi movies should check out this game
Locked content to make it longer. UPDATE: ABANDONED GAME, got several updates on Quest, none on PC ORIGINAL: After 3 missions, they force you to replay those missions to unlock the next. If a game is good, you replay the missions by leasure. This is a unnaceptable practice to make the game longer artificially.
Awesome game! So I started playing this on Quest before I for the cable for the Oculus Link. The amount of detail was I great in both but this is another level. Like the sparking tiles and just everything. There are so many ways to solve things and I keep trying different solutions and that makes it even more fun. It’s my favorite game and I keep working my way though it and just love solving things in so many different ways. Great buy - highly recommend!
stopped working. this is still one of my favorite games but all of a sudden it wont even start update it works now and its still one of my favorite games
not worth 30$. just played it, it was fun but short with little to no replay ability and the bots were dumb. and voice doesnt work it just matters how close your gun is behind them, sometimes they would look at me. i cant shoot through a fence? story got lost at the end. it wasnt straight foward and i found no use for the extra bots. i would move a guy behind cover and they would still see him. was fun for a meanwhile but def not worth the 30$
Great game with rough edges. I have about 2 hours in the game and my first impression is that the game is great! Good mechanics overall, the spying tools and climbing are surprisingly good and well made. But it's not a AAA game and it shows right at the beginning of the game. Menus are a bit clonky and there bugs here and there which are not game braking but noticeable enough to be a little annoying. For example; I crouched physically and when I was standing again, I couldn't move in the map. I could only move while crouching. Hit boxes are a bit bigger than what they're tied to and you will sometimes shoot bullets in the walls or ramps even though you were not aiming at it.
Bugs aside, the story is not bad but can't be compared to Metal Gear obviously.
Having all this said, I think it worth the price and espionage fans will have a good time playing the game!
It is a work in progress. I found the game quite good. I enjoy the challenges but most challenges don't score or score incorrectly. Please fix the challenge scoring.
Very good stealth game. Better than I hope it would be and quite imersive. The graphics are pretty good, not stellar but good. The controls are very nice and unlike other games your not fumbling everything. The climbing machanis is one of the best I have played. You get the feeling of climbing without getting your arms in a tangle and falling down. I would have liked a better tutorial, most of the time I don't know what i'm suppose to do. The AI get's annoying as it keeps repeating the same stuff , it's as if the records stuck. Also, is there no way to silently kill the soldiers so as not to have them wake and sound the alarms? All in all, one of the better stealth games that is very playable and a lot of fun.
better with all the updates, only issue. is since the last update, i cant reload, idk why, im playing on the oculus quest 2, and i have to drop my gun and pick up another to load, and i never keep my ammo, as soon as i reach a checkpoint all my ammo for most guns dissapears, but the developers seem very determained to work out issues so its defintly a game worth buying, personaly i would wait for a sale but im a budget man.
Better and better. Well, another great update, this game is still alive and the team is always on work. Just for this they deserve 5 stars. Game is great thou. Keep up!
Could have more content. It's crazy fun, but if you are looking for a really long game with alot of story, this might not be the place to go. I personally care most about gameplay, and if you do too, I'd reccomend you to buy this game. I'm just asking the devs to add more missions, and maybe instead of making espire 2, they should make another storyline inside of this game. And with the ending, i think it would be cool to have a human body go into the base instead of a robot. And you take more damage and can only heal at certain rooms, so it encouages the player to be alot more stealthy, because with the current state of the game, you can brute force your way through the entire game.
Good potential, poor execution. I love the overall design of the game; climbing in VR games is a soft spot of mine. The "future" tech is cool as well, the hand cameras, telekinetic belt slots, force grabs, all of that, but that's about all the game's got going for it. The stealth aspect, or at least the detection system, is probably the worst I've ever seen. Most games, e.g. Payday 2, notify you that an enemy is starting to see you and give you a chance to get back into cover; Espire guards are immediately suspicious and start heading to your position if they see so much as your big toe. Also, grabbing and moving things, like bodies and props, feels like I'm playing VRChat; you're able to carry everything one handed and nothing has collision with a carried object.
The game can be fun, and I understand that things are changing due to the fact that the game's still being updated, but in its current state it's still quite rough.
