Just Amazing. I had serious trouble such that I had to use the keyboard rather than the Oculus controllers, but this masterpiece was still an incredible experience. Love the survival aspect, and the horror of being trapped underwater. Another reviewer commented on the Red Planet tone, which I strongly agree with, and would argue this is way better done. One of my favorite VR experiences yet
A Good Narrative-based Adventure. For those looking for action, the game is not much more than a walking simulator, with limited interaction. For those looking for an atmospheric, narrative-based adventure, you'll discover a rewarding light at the end of the tunnel. The controls are very basic (forward, back, left, right), a single weapon (knife) who due to the fact you are inside a metal diving suit means you cannot use it very fast, and flares to help you out in the darkness. The controls fit very well onto the XBox controller. If looking for a comtemporary comparison, the game is in the same vein as 'Red Matter', although Red Matter has very nice Touch Implementation. The graphics serve the story well, and lend an incredible sense of atmosphere to the story. The story is the star of this game; it opens up slowly, and for myself, is nicely paced as it gradually opens up until reaching a climax that was more worth the price of admission. Although I feel I've got my 'VR legs', the limited range of visual movement (remember, you are in a metal, pressured dive suit) with the Rift, at times gave me a sense of claustrophobia. Combining that with the overall atmosphere of the game, trumps any need to blow away bad guys with a gun (although that is fun too). This game, for myself, was a joyous discovery with my only regret it took me this long to play it. If you're looking for shooter, pass this one by. If you are looking for a VR narrative experience, I think you will enjoy this. My compliments to the developers for making this game. Thank you.
Touching/Scary Story. Very engaging story that really draws you in. Plagued with some control problems like not being able to use the right stick to smooth turn unlike discrete turns. But it is a very compelling experience nonetheless. Definitely recommended for anyone that likes atmospheric and thriller/horror games.
Need 2 people to start. Every time you play you have to press R on the keyboard to reset view, also you need the VR-headset on, and sit in the play-position. This may be impossible. Have a wireless keyboard so i solved it, but why couldn't this R button be on the gamepad? Am i missing something? Is it true?
So far Amazing and Creepy. Congratulation dev, this game certainly had its own atmosphere and charm, it feels like soma VR game that we never had. I love when dev try to make game based on underwater setting, there is something eerie about that. Buy this game, this dev deserved the money. hope they will keep making vr game like this.
note: - If gamepad not recognize, restart your pc, launch oculus home, launch narcosis and press any key on gamepad, the recenter icon will be changed from E into select button - Or you might want to try, disconnect your keyboard from your pc, launch oculus home, launch narcosis, press any key so the icon will change from E to Select, and then you can reconnect your keyboard after this.
