Amazing Wow Please do More!!!! Amazing. As a 22 year Air Force and Army Combat Veteran I felt as if I was in the flight deck and dropping those bombs. I haven't felt that way since I was in Afghanistan and Iraq and RPGs and mortars came into our FOB. Now I know how my Grandfather a B-17 flight engineer felt, saw and what he heard. Stationed in Foggia Italy he was shot down over Kety Poland by a German fighter. Escaped and evaded and was later captured by the "allied" Russians which kept him as a POW for six months. My grandmother a girlfriend at the time receiving the news paper clipping missing presumed dead.
As far as the immersiona amazing. The sound was perfect especially talking through a throat mike 02 mask and eight crew members all screaming at once. If the reviewers bothered to read this was real audio from a mission. And the Pilot's commenatary was recorded to preserve his histroy. The audio was true. You can hear the strenght and the fear at the same time in their voice. One chance is 25/35/45 of coming home being shot down or bailing out and being captured. The Brits were doing this at night. The Americans during the day. Think of how hard and difficult that was. Our greatest generation and those who serve since odds against them and we fight on. This is not Call of Duty perfect audio in a sound studio. This was not a game its real and hectic and loud. As it was and as it should be. Please do more like this. Thank you!
Very educating experience. I'd recommend anyone to try this! It's not meant to be a game as such, but it really helps immerse you into what the brave pilots of the RAF went through
A wonderful experience. I think all the reviews complaining about the poor audio quality and people talking over eachother missed the part in the beginning about it using actual recordings from aboard the Lancaster.

Thank you. My Grandfather was a Lancaster pilot . He didn't make it , We never knew him . This made me sob with tears. I think i'm always sobbing inside about him .. I try to reach out and connect but all I get is flames and screams. During the cockpit scenes I could hardly see for tears . Thank you for this. Bert we miss you x
Incredible. Ignore reviews that mention the visuals not being up to snuff, I cannot overstate how much atmosphere and immersion this has. Choosing to put the viewer in the role of a reporter - who is themself powerless to do anything during danger - is brilliant. If you know anything about the air war in Europe, this just nails it. Watching the tracers of AAA fire starting to rise right into the steady path of the aircraft you're onboard created a feeling not even VR flight sims have for me. Can't imagine the terror, awe, and disbelief of someone in the midst of this scale and intensity of war.
FTR, my enjoyment of this experience NOT an endorsement of strategic bombing by any nation at any time. It's just history that frankly... many more people should be aware of and which is still very relevant in modern times. "Slaughterhouse-Five" by Kurt Vonnegut is a MUST READ for anyone with the slightest interest in WWII bombing campaigns (for anyone IMO but I'm a fanboy haha).
Absolutely outstanding. Played with a quest 2, absolutely amazing level of immersion, true story, incredible attention to detail. Note: Running this is roomscale mode on the quest allows you to walk and crawl around inside the bomber fuselage
poor audio, very boring. the audio is terrible, ppl talk over each other all the time, u cant really hear or understand what ppl are saying which made the entire thing really boring.
You could have been there.... OK the graphics are limited to inside the lancaster plus a few external action basic frames but I would have to say 'well done BBC'. It was atmospheric, and it relayed the tensions etc. You may applaude the bravery of the bomber command crews (50% of whom died during the war) or deplore the civilian casualties that resulted from the bombings, either way this is a good reconstruction by the BBC.
Very intense, but realistic. It was a really cool experience, but really intense. Like genuinely scared me seeing how all these young people lived like this for years.
Hauntingly affecting and very right too. What a truly wonderful thing to have done. I have known of the original recording for many years, it calls out through history as an act of bravery recorded. Only now though do you have the true sense of the cramped conditions and helplessness of the crew on the persitent mission where calm is all you can offer yourself when luck will have it's way with you.
It would have been nice to see some other positions within the bomber like tail and mid-gunner positions but however that's as much a statement of the success of this experience, I just want to see more and more of it.
A wonderful work to do honour to all of the men involved. Well done and indeed thank you.
Phenomenal. Amazing reconstruction with lots of detail on the crew members. Along with a genuine narration it comes together to a unique experience. Recommended.
Very bad. Not worth the download. No disrespect to the war veterans. I am sure it was a horrible experience. But this VR "experience" is very bad. Not worth the download or the space it takes up on your PC or Quest. Graphics are bad, the interior of the plane is too dark and the exterior (which you can see as you clip through the plane) is a joke. Looks like its made by somebody with very poor design skills. As a game developer myself, I am horrified. I don't know how BBC could let anyone put their name on this. The rating is only high because of the emotions the original audio transmits. All respect to the war veterans, but this is an insult to those people. Don't waste your time experiencing this.
Amazing. Not sure if the people that made this possible will ever read this. I want to thank you all. It was great in all the details. Thanks. I totally recommend it.
Fantastic and thought provocing. Great experiance. Really wish they would port it to the Quest 2. It would be a great experiance to show people and introduce them to VR
