Best (VR) Horror Game I've Ever Played. I'll do a bullet point list right off the bat and then we'll get into it.. • I have the Quest 2 and the graphics are more polished than Walking Dead & RE4 (VR) • It's QUIET AF - the atmosphere & sound in the hotel is impeccable - WEAR HEADPHONES • The monster AI is terrifying, sporadic, well-designed and FAST. • The details to the story, the goals, the objective, it's solid & immersive.
Okay, I hope you're ready for a bit of a story. I grew up on Resident Evil for Playstation One. In my honest opinion, Resident Evil 2 (The original & the remake) is the best horror game ever made, besides the first Silent Hill. I've played RE7, RE4 and Walking Dead S+S, all in VR. Paradise Hotel is different. It's a fresh concept, all while maintaining what I believe is the best backdrop for a horror game, 'the haunted house'. There is music in the game, but for the most part, it's quiet, and WITH HEADPHONES on, haha (wear headphones) you'll really fall into it. I'm only like maybe 45 minutes in, I've hit one boss (he was TERRIFYING) I was actually scared, (I'm 40) and the surprises in the vents and the closets... just buy the game for $25.00. Play at night. Turn off your lights, draw the biggest boundary you can.. and wear headphones.
For the developers, please tell me that you guys are working on something new (and longer). More weapons? (unless I haven't hit them yet) You're on really good path with this. Also, maybe a bit more interaction with random items as well? But hey you guys really hit a home run with this one. Resident Evil One homage. Seriously. Thank you for Propagation: Paradise Hotel.
Short... but scary, polished, and fun. This game is just like my girlfriend tells me: "It's great, really great, it just... Needs to be longer." I beat this game in 2.5 hours playing at a normal pace, and that's not because I'm super great at video games (I'm not).
Other than the length, this is truly a fantastic experience. Terrifying, beautiful graphics for a Quest game, and good polish. I can see what people mean when they say it's reminiscent of the first Resident Evil. The main difference being, of course, that this game has zombies coming after *you* and not a character on a TV screen. God, I love VR.
Propagation: Paradise Hotel is expensive for its length, so I recommend picking it up on sale and pretending that you just paid to watch the world's most immersive and interactive horror movie. I can't get over how short the game is, but at the same time, I can't being myself to knock off any stars because of how much I enjoyed every minute of gameplay. 5/5. If you enjoy soiling yourself, get this game.
Just buy it, Top experience. What can I say. My partner and I played this game. Truly scary, screamed like a little girl. I definitely needed a box of tampons. It was so much fun. The game graphics are amazing. The gameplay works very well and the story reminds us of Resident Evil 1. 10/10. Can't wait for the sequel.
Really scary and good. Shorter than I would like, WE NEED MORE! PLEASE DEVS! This game reminds me alot of re2 remake the way the zombies get back up and the environment reminds me of rpd and the castle in re: village. Such a crazy good game. Play it on hard if you wanna have the best experience.
Scariest game I've ever played. I used to be a zombie scare actor at an incredibly immersive theatre production in Reading set in an abandoned shopping mall. Many of the things we did there to scare the cr*p out of people I can see the devs have done in this game.
Subtle screams in the distance. Eerie and quiet, dark atmosphere. Occasional sound effects so you know you're not alone - a bump here and there, maybe shallow breathing or a small groan in the corner of that pitch black room you're stood in. From time to time you might be going about your business walking down a hallway only to feel the ground shake as you hear something monstrous treading the halls above.
Things go quiet and you think you are safe... And suddenly it ramps up from 0 to 100, and you have an undead zed in your face trying to chew off your flesh. You fumble for your weapon as you back away, hastily aim it at your aggressor only for it to be too late - you're cornered, and you are already dead.
The tension is second to none. And the jump scares, both scripted and non-scripted, are arguably worse. It helps that the graphics are very good too.
And remember survivors, just because the zombie you put down is now motionless on the floor, does not mean they are dead for good...
Good luck and I hope you make it out of the hotel. As for me, I can't bring myself to go back at the moment - way too scary. Phenomenal game but know what you're getting yourself into.
Please make more! The game is just a perfect VR game in the vein of old school Resident Evil and Silent Hill. Series I obsessed over starting 18 years ago. This game just perfectly scratched that itch, and outside of the extremely lackluster ending (cliffhanger?) and slightly disappointing boss, I would completely recommend this to any Survival-Horror fans! I can only hope they make a sequel, or at the VERY LEAST, make a good length DLC expansion to continue this great game.
As for those complaining about it's legth of 3 to 4 hours... most games on Quest seem to be that way, and the classic Resident Evil's (or almost any Survival-Horror titles really) that ghis game sticks close to have basic semi-speed runs of a single hour.. So it's fine.
Jump Scares. Just amazing… I love horror and scary games and this was my first VR experience with one. Absolutely terrifying!
After the first hour I actually needed to take off my headset and take a break because I was just getting too scared. The atmosphere is unreal, you constantly hear things around you which just confuses your brain that you’re being watched/followed - the amount of times I swung around to see what’s behind me and it was nothing.
I think the game mechanics are great, the graphics make it so scary and the story is super fun. Reminds me of resident evil village style.
Jump scares throughout are perfect and unpredictable - screwing up my reload while being chased gave me a the most fright I’ve ever head.
Anyway highly recommend game - but, silly as it sounds, only get it if your ready to get real scared
Amazing! The game is amazing, and the story is good. I can tell that there was a lot of attention to detail when they made this. It was very scary, immersive, and exciting!
Before I purchased it I saw reviews about it being short. After playing the story and exploring most areas I would say it took me around 4-5 hours, which in my opinion is a bit short but it was 100% worth it! Although my only complaint was the ending and I wont state why because I don’t want to spoil it.
Practically pooped my pants. This game was a lot more scary than I thought it was going to be. When I heard that this game was similar to Resident Evil I rushed to buy it (I recently finished RE: Village VR on my PSVR2) because I was craving for more of that horror feel in VR. Having those zombies rush at you at full speed is definitely a hazard for my underwear. I really enjoyed going through the game and fending off all these different types of monsters that lurked in the dark. It's even worse that the zombies don't even die, and if you pass them later on they come back to life. So if you get lost or missed a room and have to go back it's definitely going to cost you. The ending was also a great cliffhanger. When I heard that chainsaw on the radio I knew the next game is going to have chainsaws in some way, which is really cool since I am still playing through RE 4 remake VR on PSVR2 and have had my fair share of fighting people with chainsaws. For the next game I would like to recommend multiplayer. I think that would make the experience both scarier and funnier. It would be awesome if me and my friend would fight off hordes of zombies and screaming for our lives.
