Works, with a fair bit of user effort. Had issues with it not working but sorted them out with a fair bit of effort on my part to get api keys from Google. Now that it works it's actually pretty decent. Probably the best Google Earth clone out there. It's pretty rough around the edges to be honest though. I can't see anywhere where you can save your user settings. I'd like to be able to set it up how I want it and then next time I use the app it's good to go. At the moment I have to turn off the music each time as well as change some quality settings each time too. Will update my review with a better rating if that is ever put in.
answer to developer: and I followed the procedure indicated, but Google doesn't want my Postepay credit card nor my Sysalpay credit card (which is the one I use to purchase games). the card is needed to create the API key, but my card is not accepted. I can't do more!

I tried to make a key for Google maps but it doesn't accept my Mastercard sysalpay credit card or my visa postepay. this app has become unusable for me
Awful. Spent time setting it all up. Enabled all services for the API key. Put it into the correct folder. And all I can do is fly into the earth until it dissapears. Rechecked API, tried entering it manually, still the same. Controls are dreadful also.
UPDATE: Managed to get it working. Unfortunately I can't recommend this in its current state. Controls are the worst iv ever experienced, The UI is non existant, street view is abominable, I'm holding hope for thr future of this but its not looking good. Save your money for now.
Hard to control. Finally i got the api key, enabled the 3 needed services, but how on earth can i navigat to the 3D buildings? When i go closer and closer to the earth i cannot make a transition to 3D version, just the sphere come so close to my eyes, that i cannot fuse it anymore. Tried every button and hand combination. Definetly need a better explanation, user manual. And i'm a 45yo tech guy. Cannot imagine what less experienced user can do with this app. Yes, it's cheap, but should be run flawless after entering api keys. help
Can't load without adding my own API key. The world isn't loading for me. I can see the globe from space, but when I try and get closer, it just disappears. Per the developer's response to a different review, he ran out of room on his personal API keys, so new users cannot load the world data. Had to be an early buyer to get the working program I guess. He does provide a complicated way to fix this yourself though- we have to follow a 7 step process to provide google with our own credit card, sign up for a developer API key, and sideload that key into our headset files via a computer. I don't feel like that is a fair expectation from a paid app- it should either be free and rely on our own efforts, or paid with a 'ready to play' release. Please resolve this in a future update. I will likely be refunding until this is fixed. This app seems very cool, and I would happily rate it higher if this is fixed, but at the moment, I would discourage anyone from purchasing it. It won't work, and the developer is okay with that.
First impressions. I really hoped and expected to love this app. Having been amazed by Google Earth VR I thought it would be much easier if I didn't have to run it through my laptop. So I bought this and installed it, but was immediately confronted with a screen full of information that I found very difficult to follow or understand, but which basically said I would need to get some sort of digital key before it would work. After much head scratching and several failed attempts I finally managed to obtain the required API key from Google, which has now enabled the app to work. It still needs a few tweaks for it to run as well as the Google Earth VR app does, but if you don't own a computer capable of running that, then this is a very worthy contender. The laptop I use for Google Earth VR cost me £1000. This app cost me £3.99. I think that's what you might call a no-brainer.
It works!! Ok... had an API issue when first setting up the app. My API was correct however it wasn't working fully and I could only view the planet from space. I just checked everything and re-entered the API and it's all working as it should. Thanks for getting back to me Bowie, I really appreciate the information you sent. I'm giving this 5 stars for the effort you're putting into making this great VR experience work. It's the main application I want to work on my Quest so thanks again fella! When I used this app on a rift I remember there being better resolution of the 3D rendered cities. I have maxed out the settings. Is there any way of boosting this a bit further?
