I love this app and the community in it! It’s so exciting to watch this app grow! The community is great. People from around the world come in and hang out, play games, and do events. Theres many different ways to move around in Banter, and one way that is very unique compared to any other apps is the spider ropes. I run one of the events called Goth Night, and we dress up in our finest black clothes and swing around like spiders in a dark cathedral!
Came for giveaway, stayed for community. It's a social game, and even as a not-so-social person, I love it! I joined back in April for some giveaway. It was a good app then, it's a great app now, and extra features are coming almost every week.
I still remember my first event. We were with 3 people (me, the host and the CEO) AND I still had an awesome time. Now the discord has 6000+ members and there are concurrent events with lots of people in each of them.
The physics engine is on point. You can walk, run, jump, climb, fall, slide, crouch, ... (yes, you have legs in Banter!) There are parkour events to teach you everything. Or you can go to a space with recordings of the parkour teacher's avatar to learn everything at your own pace. Gorilla-tag mode (legs disappear, and you walk on your hands) is in beta and a flying mode is announced where you will have to flap your arms to fly.
You can build your own spaces with A-Frame and/or Unity and host them wherever you want (Technically, Banter is a browser and the spaces are webpages) There is a synced YouTube player so you can watch videos together. Banter uses ReadyPlayerMe avatars, but custom avatars are currently in beta (there are some limitations like max 15000 triangles to make sure Banter stays performant) You can cast your PC screen to share any content you want There is an AI-Gallery where you can do SpeechToImage And also Karaoke, Improv Night, Game Night (jackbox,tv) Goth Night, Dinner Party (in mixed reality for VRDesktop users), Story time (listen to people reading books), zero-gravity at the ISS, ... and MORE!
Last but not least, the community is awesome! Everybody is friendly and practically no kids Staff is always around, super nice and always helpful and patient.
Love this. I love banter and the community that’s in it-there’s an awesome backrooms experience to explore for hours, sports, movies, social and more! You can build worlds to share and there’s always cool events happening. The Devs also love feedback and work on anything that people think need improving/adding to the app. Can’t wait to see what else pops up in the banter-verse!
Actually… great. I’m not a big fan of VR chat or games like it. I don’t really see the point in sitting around and talking, but I’m actually enjoying Banter. Here’s why:
- Physics based movement (climbing, swinging, etc) is quite fun and gives me something to do while having out. Some worlds, such as backrooms, are actually fun to explore. - It looks decent, but more importantly: it actually performs great.
There’s definitely things to improve upon and I’m certain it won’t be for everyone, but it’s worth checking out.
Yes! Events!! Love that they have events that can fit any schedule, are easy to find, and you don’t need to be a part of a underground group to join. Added bonus is the people who use this app! Everyone is so welcoming and friendly! There are big worlds to explore even if you’re a loner. Excited to see what comes next!
Brilliant, simply brilliant! I have tried many social apps in VR, but I can tell that this one is the best I've found. The thing is, the staff is attempting something that none of the other social app platforms have had the courage to do! Spaces are already awesome, and they are expanding rapidly, as anyone can create spaces. The people are fantastic—truly! The staff is the best I could imagine, and you can meet with them every day, especially at events. They organize a lot of events! Long story short, give it a couple of days, try it, and you won't want to try anything else.
Banter is the best. I've tried all the social VR apps and none of them has felt as rewarding to use as Banter. The community has been great for all time I've seen in there, nothing but positive interactions and good people. The events the moderators hosts are also another highlight with a wide variety of stuff. I highly recommend it!
I'm obsessed! I've become addicted to the community, and that's what makes a great social experience like this. Being able to drop into any of the dozens of spaces available and end up spending hours just chatting with them is truly engaging (I've been playing PC as well so triple the amount of hours it shows me as playing on Meta). The daily community events are the perfect opportunity to meet up and hang out with everyone, such fun.
I've also been diving into creating my own spaces and this in itself has become very rewarding. It's easy to get started and the community discord are keen to help and offer guidance. I'm a noob when it comes to developing games, so if I can do it I think anyone can. It's great to create something and then see the reactions of people in VR when they start exploring what you've done... it's become an obsession!
I'm looking forward to the future of Banter, I feel it has the potential to really bring the VR community together. It's still early days in it's development, things are improving every week and they're super open to feedback.
100% recommendation from me, it's the most VR I've played in one experience in years!
BANTER ROCKS! Though I have social anxiety , I found Banter is a great place to ease into. It's full great members and staff that are very understanding and helpful. There are plenty of people there that also have social anxiety too. They often slowly get around it as they spend some time just hanging around doing their own thing. You don't even have to talk if you rather not. The people there will even help you get started in building your own spaces if it's something you would like to try, or you can just enjoy visiting Spaces other people created. There are always different events and games you can join in on. Or you can host your own here too. They have comedy shows, open mic nights, karaoke nights, game nights, movies, parties, even dinner parties, and much more. Let's not forget prizes won every week, like free games, even complete VR headsets, like Quest 3. This place is growing rapidly. I should note that Banter is intended for adults to hangout, not children. It can be a night club atmosphere a lot of the time. Top rate for fun experience.
Social VR of the future. This app is still in the early testing phase before full release and it already has the hall marks of a great social VR experience for users & world creators. Many of the current worlds are amazing quality and feel like a AAA experience - I recommend Slip Stream Island and Winter Resort as the slides are so much fun. The physics are definitely like Boneworks and feel more evolved than any other social app I have played so it means your avatar can do more cool interactive stuff! Ready Player Me avatars mean more choice/ style - oh and the avatars have legs!
I highly recommend joining the Banter Discord so you can see when events are running - the team do tours and other fun stuff almost every day. The dev team are super helpful and really care about community so please support them.
Positive inclusive virtual social space. It's not VRC or Neos, it's something new and different, another niche that's doing it's own thing. It's growing a great community of it's own.
Banter/SideQuest staff stay super busy with regular in-game events to maintain player engagement and retention.
It's still pretty early/there's not a lot here yet but I can see the potential for growth in short time.
