Modules is an immersive virtual environment where different forms of art – architecture, sculpture, film, and music – blend together to create an immersive experience.
Devised by digital artist Maxim Zhestkov, it is a world that questions the established definitions of our reality. Over the course of years, the project will grow as the artist grows, expanding into new territories and blurring the boundaries between art, games, and reality. With experimentation at its core, it is Zhestkov’s playground, where he is able to refine his work with no end, challenging the limits of his own medium.
Modules is a vision for what a metaverse can be, from the interactions between people to the change of real-world structures and materials in digital space. As research into the metaverse’s ethics and aesthetics, it's potential to inspire and empower, it facilitates beauty, kindness, and cooperation in VR. Every room will offer a mind-bending encounter, and a journey through Modules will reveal the fragile tension between the present and the boundless future that lies ahead.
Cool visuals. This was a pretty refreshing experience, I only wished there was something else happening instead of the audio commentary to complete the experience. Maybe some poetry or audioscapes, or just single spoken words meant to evoke associations. Also, the experience broke at the elevator in room 6 (?) as the elevator left without me.
Amazing minimal architecture and motion. My mind is blown, such a great atmosphere. I'm truly looking forward to what more will come over time from this highly talented creator.
Notes: - missing a smooth free locomotion option. Maybe even optional zero-g (with thrusters like in Lone Echo). - room 7 appeared to have a duplicate audio sphere from the room before. - maybe an option for the audio sphere to follow you, as now when exploring spaces the sound can fade out. - audio playback controls could be nice.
This is why VR exsists. Modules is unlike any art installation you can experience because it couldn’t exist in reality. The artist takes you on a journey through a curated space filled with everything and nothing. It’s a place both familiar and alien and yes, I’m aware that I sound a bit like Rod Serling about to introduce a episode of the Twilight Zone but the Modules experience isn’t to far from it. It’s inspiring and if I may say…a bit foreboding. Love it!
(Now if we could get multiplayer and smooth locomotion that would be great. Experiencing this with a friend or loved one world be top notch!)
