It's cool, but also very short. Even after doing the full set up at the latest software version it still won't work, it worked on a previous version, and the version before that didn't work either. You'd think a company with a several billion dollar budget would be capable of delivering something that at least functions properly. Like the developers, I never finished the game.
It's cute and demo's AR passthrough. It seems I like this app more than most ppl. It does what it states on the box, i.e. demo AR pass through. It's very short. It's cute.
I didn't give it 5 stars because the voice commands don't work, and it breaks the immersion of the experience.
It's bizzare because the O/S voice commands have only been enabled in USA (I'm in Australia), so why did the devs not have an alternate option for the rest of the world to the voice commands, like gestures, wave to say "hello", motion towards yourself for "come here", etc
Things to come! This a sample of how Mixed reality (or Augmented Reality) will work its way into more and more homes over time. This is a short demo, but holy crap, it turns half of your rooms into another world. You interact with this little Alien rabbit thing, and give it some voice commands. Very simple, but the real star of the show is just the way the walls and ceiling look like you can step into a cartoon. Keep them coming! For the one star reviews... just do an ounce of research?
Fix for black screen. First off this is experimental. Expect as much. To fix the black screen you MUST have your device in developer mode. (Look up how to do this, really quick, easy, and does not hurt your device)
The game itself is super short but is a cool taste of what mixed reality could bring to the table. Was fun interacting with the little alien that was in my room.
Mixed-Reality. As someone who is always on the lookout for new and exciting virtual reality experiences, I was intrigued by The World Beyond app for my Oculus Quest 2. The concept of merging my play space with a virtual landscape and interacting with a character using my hands and voice was appealing.
Upon launching the app, I was disappointed to encounter a black screen and various electronic chirping sounds. I tried resetting my device and redrawing my room, but had no luck. I eventually discovered that turning on developer mode in the Oculus mobile app fixed the issue for me, but others have reported continued problems.
Once the app was working, I was able to use a magic flashlight to find energy orbs in my own room, hidden behind the passthrough feature. I used my hands to grab and toss the orbs, and even used voice commands to ask the character, Oppy, to perform actions. While the app was short, lasting only a few minutes, it was a fun taste of what mixed reality experiences could offer in the future.
Overall, while The World Beyond had some technical issues, it was a unique and enjoyable VR app that showed the potential of mixed reality. I hope to see more developers take inspiration from it and create more fully fleshed out experiences in the future.

Incredible sneak peak of future. Absolutely loved the opening and closing of walls. Would 100% set ceiling and 1 big wall to virtual in MR. Every time. Thank you for the sneak peak. Let get into the matrix. But with the ability to plug out when we want to. ;)
Black screen on load after recent update. I installed and got to play it which was very cool but since updating the quest headset it just shows black and some faint animal noises can be heard. Tried others suggestions of restarting or turning off developer mode to no avail. Look forward for fix for this as I want to demo this to others!
Black Screen Fix as of 10/2/22. I noticed people talking about the black screen. I noticed I got it too when I didn't set up the "room setup" within the experimental tab of the Oculus Menu. I setup the walls, windows, doors, and some "other" items and then launched the app. From there when I boot up the app I instantly see the title screen and the other action items to begin the demo. Hope this helps others experiencing the same problem. It is a pretty cool demo to showcase what is to come in the XR space.
Black screen fix. This game has great potential, at the moment it's very short (a few minutes). I look forward to what AR can bring.
To (possibly) fix the black screen make sure to reset your Quest 2 after installing and opening the app and getting the black screen. If that doesn't work turn on developer mode. I still got the black screen after turning developer mode on but a quick restart seemed to have fixed it.
"The World Beyond" Is Broken .... Updated to v40 last week. Did the room setup perfectly, just waiting to use TWB .... Downloaded it, ran it and what do mine eyes behold ...?? Pitch darkness, a flash of ghost hands for about half a second, then alternating high- and low-pitched electronic "chirps" .... I re-setup the room, deleted and re-downloaded the app: SAME. EXACT. RESULTS. A few people online have mentioned they have this trouble, too. I was anxiously awaiting this app, but all for naught it seems. Sure, I get that it's an appLAB app and all tje potential problems that go along with that. But TWB was hyped by Zuck himself, so there's zero room for any excuses. FIX THIS, META!!
