Please read. Now the comfort is un rated, BUT I'm a very hardened vr player I've gotten motion sick twice in 2 years. One of those times was with this game it amazing they've tried to make it a good comfort level, just warning try (if you do buy this) don't do barrel rolls it's cool but made me slightly sick
Really fun And Veteren Dad loved. I recently got this game to try out and it was the best game I have ever played the levels are hard but they have things to help you I finally was able to get used to it and it is amazing my dad who was a former Air Force pilot loved it it’s really fun and recommended trying it
skeptical at first but def worth it! Not really knowing if I should try this game I said why the hell not, it was on sale anyways.
Doing so was definitely worth it. The content in this game was pretty loaded and felt really rewarding unlocking new planes and upgrades. The game is very challenging at first, but after a while when you start upgrading your plane, it gets super fun.
Small recommendation I hope the devs read is that they should make our other plane dialogue such as, “destroying a plane, getting shot at, etc,” sound like it’s through a radio like signal instead of our own characters. For me, it takes away the emersion when i’m flying on my own plane and my co pilot plane does something that for some reason my character is responding to. For a more historically accurate gameplay, the captain that talks in the beginning of every mission should also be in a static radio sound instead of sounding crystal clear. Even if it’s just an option to set on and off I think this small difference would help create so much more emersion.
Anyways this game is great if your looking to really dive deep into pretending/role-playing to be a WWII fighter pilot! Definitely recommend:)
Amazing Flight game! To be in the cockpit of these WW2 fighter planes is amazing. The detail is really great. You really get the sensation of operating a fighter through the skies of the Pacific. The only things stopping me from giving it 5 stars is the “engine overheating” and “ guns overheating .” Takes away from the whole experience. I think for a VR game, they should do away with this and let fans of these types of games just push the plane to its limits, especially during dog fights. It sure if anyone from the developers read this, but I’ve had the game for 48hrs and already losing interest because of these features.
Fantastic flight sim, aggravating coms. I love this game as much or maybe more than the first, but I think it has the same problem as the first, the com chat is too frequent. Every. Single. Time. That I fire my guns for a second to long, throttle up for a little too long, or approach the carrier given about seven seconds to slow down to 100 mph, it’s “machine gun’s overheated”, “gotta let the engines cool down”, or “pilot, you’re approaching too fast”, respectively. The first one had the same problem too. Otherwise, I think the game is great, but, I wish the game had the A-24 Banshee (otherwise known as the SBD Dauntless), the plane that made history in the battle of midway. A sequel or perhaps a DLC set in Europe during the war would be fun too
An Amazing Arcade Flight Sim. Everything about this game is awesome, the combat is fast paced and the planes handle well. Cockpits are detailed enough. Bombing takes some skill though.
My only gripe is that I heard they won’t be adding multi-seat bombers which would’ve been icing on the cake and would’ve made this the bomber crew game I’ve been waiting for. Even just a two seater naval bomber or attack plane. There are absolutely no multiplayer bomber crew games on Quest or App Lab for that matter and I really wanna scratch that itch. You guys did it with Warplanes 1 so I hope you can figure something out!
Warplanes review. As someone who's been playing Warplanes since launch I have to say this is my favourite slight sim for the quest. The cockpit environment in the planes is awesome the single player and multiplayer dogfighting game modes are fun an i enjoy being part of the online community of regular players on here. For anyone looking for a fun flight sim experience i would definitely recommend this game. Be prepared to sink quite a few hours of practice into learning how to fly your plane and shoot down the enemy, once you start to master the controls you will become addicted.Five stars... the only thing I would say Is I'd like it if the developers added some more different maps and game modes or the ability to make your own custom maps perhaps this is a bit much for the quest though I like the idea of carrier battles with two teams where you keep taking off from the carrier and have to stop the other team from destroying your carrier and other ships and perhaps the ability to play as an anti aircraft turret on the boat or map.First team to sink the other teams carrier wins etc. Also non warplanes related i am excited to hear about the helicopter game that apparently is in development i am sure this will be awesome we need as many flight simulator games as possible maybe ones with modern jets ....and ones with spaceships where you can have space battles !!
YoURE OverhEAtinG ThE ENGine."（エンジンをかけろ）。
Satisfying dogfights / goofy com chatter. Let’s start with the positives: Cockpits are really well done/immersive.
Graphics are top notch.
Physics and flying feel intuitive and each unique plane handles a little differently.
Gun sounds bring you right into the action.
But please, please devs: the throttle overheats within seconds… and why? Worst of all there’s an annoying voice to remind you that “you’re overheating the engine.” Every. Single. Time. That voice over the radio is really the crux of my one and only complaint.
That particular coms voice barrages your ear with useless information. Some examples: “you took a hit” (no ___ Sherlock… I could hear the bullets ripping into the side of the plane) “you’re coming in too fast” (nope, this is just the right speed for landing, done it a million times now) and my personal favorite: “YoURE OvERhEAtinG ThE ENGine.”
I’d love to give this game five stars by fixing what the coms voice tells you in combat because at the moment, it feels like a little brother telling you how to drive from the backseat. I’d much rather hear practical info that helps with immersion and/or direction: “fighter at your 6” for instance. ANYTHING that’s helpful instead of blatantly obvious or unnecessary. And why is it only one voice on the radio? Shouldn’t there be multiple voices on the same frequency to differentiate pilots?
Surprisingly different than WW1 Warplane. (One major complaint: I wish the throttle on the joystick could be turned OFF. I constantly am using it to use the rudders and it is near impossible to rudder right or left without throttling up so I have Sooooo mutch more trouble conserving engine heat)
Judging from bad reviews I thought this was a carbon copy of WW1 fighters. Don't listen to them. The mechanics and game style are the same.... but the planes are advanced by 30 years and it shows. They feel completley different, everything from bombing to maneuvering takes new attention, care, and skills. These things are FAST. if a plane is coming at you "chicken style", you better aim and shoot quick because once you blink it will either be gone or you'll crash right into it. They're not travelling 100mph like WW1. They shoot cannons, or machine guns on most. And gun placement is different on a few planes causing the need for different skills whether it be wing mounted or nose it really changes how you attack. You can change the armament on planes as well. Need bombs? Torpedo? Rockets? Some planes even carry several different sized bombs. 45 pound all the way to like 950 pound bombs. This game is much different than WW1 fighters.
These are not as "lift" based planes as WW1 so you definitely need power during your turns. No throttling down for tight turns here. This completley changes strategy and engine heat conservation. It's very well Done. I can't wait until they release it in the full oculus store. Or meta or whatever it is now. I expect an exciting update when this happens.
I would like to see more plane variety but I am not displeased with what's available. Although I doubt they'll do it, I would love to see them continue the warplanes series through time eventually getting us to modern. Also want a VR pirate game which im confident they can do well. Good job home net games. Good job indeed.
DEVS! PLEASE ADD BOMBERS! I LOVE this game. As a WW2 fanatic and a aircraft lover I can confirm that this game was great the moment I bought it, the moment it came out. Great player base even then, iconic planes to fly, and it’d got a gosh darn F4U Corsair. My favorite plane of all time. BUT PLEASE ADD DIVE BOMBERS FOR THE LIVE OF GOODNESS! You Devs add even just a Dauntless or heck, A Dora, I WILL LITERALLY BUY ANOTHER COPY OF THIS GAME JUST BECAUSE! I know you guys are adding new planes Ex: The Raiden and Bearcat. So please add dive bombers. Heck, you guys have the dive mechanic in the game. And in the WW1 fighters there ARE 2 seat fighters and bombers. So please, even just a Dauntless would be great. In the meantime, I’m gonna go shoot down some other players :)
Fantastic WW2 fighter game... Really enjoyed their first WW1 title, and this is a great evolution for the WW2 setting. Most noticeable is that everything happens at a faster pace, so combat can happen at 500+ mph but easy to adapt. I love the small extra additions of flaps, landing gear, cannon, rockets etc although bombing is harder (might have to try dive bombing?) Difficulty settings are more limited but still effective, but some missions can be too tough although there is always a choice of 3. Would like to see more realism in terms of historic world events / progress (i.e. new aircraft appear as the war progresses) and simulation (i.e navigating to warzone from carrier) and perhaps some new missions (i.e. attacking airfields), but this is still far and away the best flight experience on standalone Quest, and fully enjoy the gameplay of buying new planes and upgrading capabilities.
Flying fun. I picked up this game as I wanted to know the very very basic idea of how planes control. This game delivered. I chose this over competitiors as it has amazing graphics, realistic physics, termperature gauge, stall, ammo supply, everything you could want. The dogfights were fun but sometimes tedious as it could take a very long time, I blame myself for inexperience and belive this to be more authentic. Speaking of authenticity, it would be great to have a mode where the plane will crash/catch on fire if it is hit by a single bullet (excluding the wings). I highly doubt a shot to the fuel tank would allow you to still fly. Would also be great if you could get out of the vechile for a special dlc mission or something, however as this is a flight sim it's not essential. I reccomend this game!
Not as good as Warplanes 1 -Disappointed. WW2 planes is very similar to WW1 planes which I did and still do love. WW2 planes has lots of positives –new graphics (love flying close to other planes esp our bombers), creaking planes, cannons, rockets, undercarriage, faster play, harder and more realistic, take off from a carrier etc However I still play WW1 planes in preference to WW2 planes and recommend WW1 planes over WW2 planes for a number of reasons. 1) WW2 planes has flaps which slow the plane down to a crawl. Go low under antiaircraft guns and the fighters will not get you either, pull on flaps and shoot the ground targets at your leisure at very slow speed then put flaps off and go up to finish the fighters. NB the same happens in WW1 –go low and you are essentially safe while you deal with the ground targets but at least you cant slow down to walking pace with the flaps. 2) Pulling flaps on at 100MPH should rip your wings off –it doesn’t and you slow right down. 3) WW1 has the ability to fly in 2 seater planes and in multiplayer my friends and I often do missions in the same plane. There are no two seater planes in WW2 4) Dropping bombs in WW1 has a user friendly sight but dropping bombs in WW2 is a dive bomb and the sight really doesn’t model your plane position and bomb position. 5) What is the point of dropping bombs in WW2 when rockets do the same damage and are easier to use. If you go to all the effort of dropping a big bomb at least let it destroy 3 buildings. 6) Landing -fly up to the carrier at max speed put down gear, pull on flaps, plane almost stops in midair and you land. 7) Others have mentioned it but why give an entirely different set of planes to use for flying with your friends? In WW1 planes you used the planes you had upgraded yourself. 8) In WW1 planes you can fly the opposition (ie Germans) in WW2 you cant so it is very one sided. Fix the flaps Fix the bombs Reinstate two seater and multi seater planes? At least address these issues before you bring out WW2 Europe
Topguns. Wow just wow... This game is on another level, I love everything about it, great that you can edit your fighter plane, colours, logos etc. The AI fighters are brilliant and fly like real and regular fighters would.
For £14.99 you can't go wrong, I'd of payed 20.99 it's that good 😊 Graphics wise 10/10 Playability 8/10 ( add more missions and I'll make it 10/10 lol.) Overall amazing game
Great game. I just started a series about this game on my YouTube channel, Bigman89, and it is an amazing game. The graphics are amazing, which makes the scenery beautiful as well. It makes the battles over islands even more enjoyable. I look forward to recording videos for a long time to come. I absolutely love this game
Great game but want more! I got this game after trying the first one and it is amazing. There are so many more features to use and is a great game. I understand it us still in development so here is what I want from the game.
The first thing I want is the feel of being in a big bomber plane, such as the b-17. I loved the idea of it as a kid; a bomber that could still protect itself. With machine guns on all sides and a size that is powerful. On the topic of the b-17, the second this I want is being able to switch positions in the plane. This would be like being in one of the bubbles on the b-17 or being the back gun on the 2 seat fighters. My final wish is a bit of a stretch, but I think it would be awsome. I want to be a flak cannon. It could just be a single mission or a recurring thing, but it would be cool either way. Just sitting on a ship or in a town, shooting planes from below. Thanks for reading and if you agree like to let the devs see this.
Great casual combat flight sim. Warplanes is a great WW2 arcade flight sim, which is not a dig at all. All of the mechanics from its WW1 predecessor work here, but with faster planes and more armament options.
Pros: - This game didn't give me motion sickness, and shooting down enemy planes and hitting ground targets is very satisfying.
- There is a decent variety of infinite missions (unless I haven't reached an end that was not hinted at after probably 10 hours of play).
- Perhaps this game's biggest achivement is that real dogfighting tactics work well, which is very rewarding and VERY immersive.
-each aircraft has a different cockpit and has different characteristics. It's fun to experiment with each one.
- I have lots of minor gripes in the cons section below, but that's all they are. If you like combat flight sims at all, BUY THIS GAME.
- Biggest con is that the game doesn't stop being a tutorial. It will remind you that you're coming in too fast when landing every single time, even when approaching at what feels like a realistic speed, and most annoyingly when you attack ground targets without using flaps and slowing to a crawl, the game sees this as a mistake and gives you vocal reminders. Devs - one tutorial mission and these reminders should be gone for good.
- flight model adjustments - speed with flaps all the way down and throttle all the way back is basically a hover and would stall anything flying in WW2. Minimum speeds should be higher, with a simple stall mechanic if you go too slow. Different stall speeds could also help differentiate the game's aircraft. Carrier landings should be harder as well, esp in the higher difficulty settings, maybe requiring the player to catch an arrestor wire.
- My squadron was pretty useless until their planes were upgraded to level 5, before which they didn't get a single kill while I took on the whole Japanese Air force by myself. Also, on the tutorial notepad in the cockpit, I'd love to see some simple squadron commands (attack objectives, AA, bombers, fighters, cover me).
- friendly and enemy AA flak and machine guns is also pretty useless, and should be more deadly, esp in hard mode. Flying slow over ground targets should be very risky if the AA was not suppressed first.
- When two fleets of ships meet, they should be able to damage each other. This would add an element of urgency when tasked with protecting a friendly fleet.
- i love the infinite missions, but wouldnt mind a "final battle" like taking out an enemy carrier fleet, and like in the WW1 game, occasional big-ticket missions like defending your airbase.
Some feedback for Devs! 4.7 stars! This is the flight sim I've been waiting my whole life for. It isn't super realistic, but incredibly fun to play. I have spent a lot of time playing it since it was released and am writing this review mostly in hopes that the devs will consider some of my feedback: 1) The engine overheat thing seems to be universally annoying to everyone in multiplayer who seem to always complain that they're flying around listening to "beep beep beep" the whole game. It's difficult to have throttle discipline while in hard-core dogfighting. While I think something approaching the real world limitations of throttle is a good idea, it should be handled differently, possibly just by adding some black out/red out effects around high-g maneuvers (at least in advanced mode). 2. Bots are sometimes doing 20g maneuvers while going mach 2. What's up with that? Did the Japanese have secret alien technology? 3. It would be nice if game modes and maps could be changed from within a lobby. I've frequently had the experience of having a good group together but having to leave and reconvene either because we're on a map no one likes (like the open ocean) or because we want to change modes. It would also be useful to be able to scope out the main server from within a session without leaving, to see what other sessions are available. Also, waiting for people to join can get kind of boring. It would be nice if there were ways to spend time while waiting in a lobby. I have half-joked that there should be a fishing rod on the railing of the carrier so we can do a fishing mini-game (or maybe a table with cards/dominos?) while we wait. Might also be neat to be able to paint planes while waiting. 3. More planes (including dive bombers), and Japanese missions would be cool. 4. The P-38 could be less floaty on the vertical axis (unless that's how it really flew - but I love the plane and want to love flying it). And wasn't it possible to simultaneously fire cannons and mg in planes with both?
The best vr flight sim graphics. This is a great game. If you could open and the cockpit. just a slide back on tack off and landing wiuld do. And also bailout with a parachute would improve the emersion in vr. A Catalina sea plane or Dauntless with gunner position would add another level to the game. Keep up the good work.
