Old School Horror Space Maze Generator. Old School Graphics that work great for the horror art style of the monsters.
Authentic sound and design that feels like your in a old/wrecked space ship that was invaded by monsters.
Randomly generates room with other randomization options that makes it feel different each play through.
Only thing I’d say might annoy players is the old/low polygon style if you are a visual person (but I think it adds to it-same about no sprinting as it lets you take in the surroundings and feel more afraid since the monsters are faster then you so you can’t rush things) Or that when you die, you have restart - it can be annoying but that’s just how the game is designed and I think it adds to the experience.
Keep in mind it’s a random maze/map generator so that means - may not always be enough health/weapon loot to keep you alive, to many monsters at once, or be able to memorize where things are.
I would highly recommend it as a must have, especially for its price tag, to any VR horror players. (Very close to the Alien Isolation game)
one of the best. ok so scifi horror survival in space, wow is this game freaky sometimes. one life and everytime you start again the layout, rooms, monsters and collectables change. its fun though exploring this huge dark derelect space station with just a flashlight to guide your path... great time killer and pretty addicting figuring out your stragety with what you have available.. very well done
Phenomenal. Recently purchased my first VR headset, and the first game I bought was this one. It's a great little roguelike with horror, feels like a passionate group wanted something DeadSpace esque for VR and so far they've hit it outta the park. The crafting aspect with unlockables was a nifty feature I wasn't expecting after going in blind, and the limited battery feature that not only lights up rooms but also kills enemies for good is a very cool concept. It's got scares, but dying doesn't feel all that bad. Collect some blueprints and try again. Would definitely recommend.
Scary indeed. It's great at being scary, I would live to see more mods that helped the player so they felt like rewards. Not sure the last time it was updated but it would be nice to see something extra come from such a great horror style game
Perfect level of scariness! I love thie concept. Stuck on a space ship and trying to find your way out, and evey run is different from the last. Just perfect game to play through a loop and see how far you get until the space creatures get to you, or you run out of air. It also feels related to Alien Isolation (but that required PCVR).
And a tip if you think this game might be too scary: turn off the music and lower your in game volume to a minimum.
This way it feels more like a exploration game than a horror title. It still gives you the creeps but doesn’t freak you out. And once you learn the game and want it to be more scary then up the volume and turn on that music score.
Dead Space VR. The closest to dead space in VR. Amazing glad graphics are amazing for oculus 2. Amazing random levels so each time scary different weapons tons of replayability. A sequel would be amazing more monsters weapons and variation and winner. And def keep the random levels each time my favorite horror and RE4 after.
One of the best. Ok, so the graphics could be better, but everything this game sets out to do, it does very well... Exploration, anticipation, tension... A game where figuring out what to do is both useful and rewarding. I want more!
Brilliant. A great example of roguelike and horror games. Almost everything is done right here: an oppressive atmosphere with natural shadows, intense gameplay, dozens of hours of gameplay that you will need to properly understand the mechanics of the game and discover the necessary items. I spent more than 10 hours on this game, and the last attempt took me two hours, of which the second hour was one of the most stressful of all the games I played. Overall, this is one of the best meta quest games. The only complaint: a little awkward monsters, although I suspect that they are made so that the player does not die of fear :)
Outstanding! So many elements come together to make Cosmodread a perfect horror experience.
First and foremost, the atmosphere. Space is the best setting for this kind of thing as it offers maximum isolation, and complete removal from the comforts of our natural habitat. You are the only survivor of whatever happened on the ship, but you’ll soon discover you aren’t really alone. Apart from alien horrors and the occasional patrolling robot, the ship itself is alive, full of creakings, rumblings, and skittering, shuffling noises from the spaces between the rooms which you can’t quite see, as well as doors which - just occasionally - open all on their own.
Then there are the game mechanics. Limited oxygen forces you to keep exploring the claustrophobic tech-labyrinth, while the random location of key items means that rushing through certain areas - as much as you might want to - is not advised, as you may not have enough air to make a return trip should you miss anything. The rougelike design is also a perfect fit for this experience; with the threat of permanent player death adding to the tension, while the procedurally generated map ensures you are never really prepared for what’s behind the next door. The unlockable blueprints and crafting mechanic provide a sense of progress even in the face of player death, and also serves to unlock some interesting game modifiers, adding to the already-high replayability.
The graphics are not particularly stand-outish, but are certainly functional, and the monster design features some good body horror. If anything this game really highlights what can be done without super powerful graphics processing capabilities, as the atmosphere, pacing, and sound design all come together to make it feel much more immersive than a lot of games that require much higher budgets both to produce and to play. A perhaps unintended benefit of the maze-like levels is that, with relatively fewer objects and smaller distances to render, the game runs very well even when confined to hardware that needs to be light enough to strap to your face!
Finally, the choice to develop this from the ground up as a VR game rather than flatscreen was absolutely on-point. Controls and interface are all quite intuitive, and of course VR adds a level of immersion that can never really be replicated by flatscreen games no matter how large the screen or how incredible the resolution, and this immersion acts as a multiplier for all the other horror elements. But before you get too immersed, just remember to chock your doors lest you - like me - nearly have a heart attack when the wind suddenly rattles the door just next to your play space.
Great Cosmic horror for my Quest 1. Bought this Cosmic Horror game a couple of days ago. Its great, scary and good atmosphere. I like the variation in this game. Also very happy that CosmoDread still works on my old Oculus Quest 1 headset. 1000% worth the price. 5 stars
Holy Moly! Scary, challenging, and replay-able! This game is all about atmosphere. Super creepy, pretty scary, and can be played over and over again. Try not to read too much online for tips, it’s very rewarding figuring out things on your own. I was so close to beating the game one round but I made a huge error, and every play through since I have not made that same mistake. Just buy it, you will not regret it!
