概要
From Emmy Award winning Oculus Story Studio comes Dear Angelica, a journey through the magical and dreamlike ways we remember our loved ones. Entirely painted by hand inside of VR, Dear Angelica plays out in a series of memories that unfold around you. An immersive, illustrative short story starring Geena Davis and Mae Whitman.
Beautiful storytelling. This short VR movie was beautifully done. It tell a story of family, connections and loss. Wonderful art and voice acting. My only gripe is that the visual presentation is a little disorienting.
Beautiful writing and visuals. The writing and visuals are one of the most beautiful I've seen in VR but it loses marks because it is in 3dof, so you have to remain still if you don't want motion sickness. Also, I think it is only in 60hz as I detected a bit of flickering. If it wasn't for these technical reasons it would have easily got 5 stars.
I hear from another reviewer that the Rift version is in 6dof, so maybe take a look at that if you want the best VR experience.
Simply amazing. I’m a dad of three daughters. First review I’ve written for the Oculus. A little surprised at the lower reviews for a free download. This is a work of art not to be missed for any person with older parents. The beautiful art moves along a compelling story about loss and connection. As I’m writing this my wife has a mom who has late stage breast cancer. When a time arrives when she’s comfortable and I can share this with her I will. It’s a healing little short we could all use to take a few minutes to watch. Good for the soul.
Shattered my expectations. There are already a ton of beautiful reviews on this, so I don’t know what more I could add. To the team that put this together, bravo! And the fact that you provided it to us for free? Knowing the experience it has given me, I would easily have paid five dollars for it. I can’t say that for any other VR 3-D film that I have viewed up to this point. I love that, because you only had to render out lines, that you were able to play around with a much larger scope than what a lower end headset can typically accommodate. The sound was beautifully mixed. Tremendous storytelling… I can’t say one bad thing about it!! Really great work by everyone involved.
Why 3dof on Quest?. Firstly, I gave this experience 5 stars in the Rift Store because it is AMAZING! It is touching, the animation is gorgeous and it is just so well done.
But it gets 3 stars on the Quest store because for some weird reason the Quest store version only does 3dof, which is too bad as you can freely walk around in the Rift store version.
The Quest version just makes you dizzy and does not do this amazing VR story justice
Ouch. My throat hurts from trying hard not to cry :,) Definitely works on quest 2, just a little weird on the eyes a bit. Absolutely worth watching. If you are able, Make sure you’re standing so you can turn to see everything!

Moving. A great work of art. The story of a father, a daughter, a car, and music....
Emotional but great. The way this story was told... whew... almost had me in tears. It touches you in a way that anyone can relate to it no matter who you've lost.

Glitching. My sister is using it right now and it keeps on fast forwarding it
Spoilers so please read with caution. I’m sitting here alone in the nursery of my house, my newborn twin girls are both sleeping for well maybe another 10 min. Before the next blowout lol, I lost my mom to COVID 25 days ago, she never had the chance to meet my girls, and I sit here, 33 years old, with the oculus quest 2 my wife bought me today for Christmas, not afraid to admit that I ugly cried at this, what a beautiful story, thank you to all involved in creating this, really something special.
Short Movie Masterpiece. Dear Angelica is only about 12 minutes long, but the emotional impression that this movie left on me lasts for almost 2 months now. Everyone can relate to this sad story, but due to fairly recent event in my life this really hit me hard. Yes, it's very sad, but it's also dazzlingly beautiful. It feels like you're inside of drawing, inside of someone's head and/or on some acid trip. It can be a little overwhelming at times but mostly everything fits perfectly. Voice acting is done by Geena Davis and Mae Whitman, both of them did a fantastic job. Dear Angelica is free and I would highly recommend this VR movie to anyone.
Worth it for the art style alone. Dear Angelica has a very cool art style. I've certainly never seen anything like it in VR. I feel like 2020 is the wrong year for this kind of story, I really don't need any other reasons to feel sad or bummed out lol. If you're on the quest 2 and have an office chair, I suggest sitting in that so you can spin around with ease.
Mother's voice is kinda masculine?. I mean, being musician and tend to notice and analyse sounds automatically or having any experience on dubbing is absolutely not necessary to tell they got it wrong with the mother's voice here. It's either a guy or a lady with a voice without the right harmonics to do woman's voice on an animated film (I still bet for the guy's voice theory), just wrong choice and a mood killer. Otherwise, good short film.
Such a shame. An absolute gem of an experience on the rift has unfortunately not been able to transfer fully for the quest, only 3dof now, no longer are you able to lean into a scene makes for a more limiting experience.
Visuals. The visuals are stunning. The story (ending) I saw coming from miles away. Really loved this whole piece and can’t wait for others to watch it. We need more like this
It’s absolutely astonishing. Here’s my take on this. Can’t you just needs to make more of these kind of stories. It doesn’t need interactiveness nor anything if that type. But this story was amazing. It has the amazing art and amazing story. It feels as if you were in the “story”. It’s emotional and might even jerk a tear or 2.
