Cosmic Sugar is a trance inducing physics sandbox. It can be used for art making and light shows. Cosmic Sugar visualizes natural forces in a way that is similar to sand grains on metal surfaces revealing hidden cymatics. It is a relaxing and engaging universe which responds in completely unique ways to the personalities and interactions of each individual artist.
Just what I was looking for! I bought an Oculus Quest looking for non-gaming, yet mind-bending experiences - I discovered Cosmic Sugar! Cosmic Sugar is the ultimate experience to activate the creative brain cells. You can get lost for hours.
Playing with Cosmic Sugar takes me back to being a kid and using a magnet to attract iron filings out of the dirt, then playing with the filings while using the magnet under the table to shift the filings around. Cosmic Sugar takes that concept into a completely immersive 3-D experience. Amazing.
Cosmic Sugar is a very fluid experience that will make your mind explore a whole new paradigm of creative expression. It needs to be seen to be experienced.
I am in absolute love with this application. The only thing I really wish it would be able to handle is letting me reorient the default direction of the headset. I tried laying in bed while using this but unfortunately that was a no go, at least with the lights turned off since the tracking is inactive then. I don't know if it's possible, but I truly hope so.
All that being said, the lights and the ambient sound create a hypnotic experience. I kept saying wow out loud in my room, and I can't wait to try doing different things, perhaps creating something like what's on the screen shots.
Great simulation app. If you ever had a theory on how our universe came to be.. I'm sure you could create a model, with this simulator. Black holes, white holes, nebulas ,galaxies ,universes, supernovas ext.. best played with headphones with bass.
Interesting but price too high. Spherical and magical, but the fun wears off too fast. So the price is too high. I bought the app, because I thought you can play and interact with your own music, but unfortunately that´s not the case.
Beautiful Journey. I love this app! Creating art scenes in 3d space is fun, mesmerizing, and trance-inducing. I feel like I'm tripping without taking any drugs. It's like being on a journey in space with control over the elements of light and sound. Endless meditative, artistic flow state. So good!
This is a portal to another dimension! Ever wonder what it would be like to create the universe? Stop wondering, jump in and find out! The endless possibilities and ethereal ambiance combine to enable free thought and expression that I'm pretty sure caused the big bang. If we are living in a simulation, the being who built it is currently using this app in their dimension to construct our reality!
Excellent Interactive Fractal Flames. What a great take on visual math. Trippy for sure. I love the level of interaction. I hope the development continues to an even higher level. Thanks for bringing it to stand-alone VR. I'll definitely have many hours of enjoyment from this. Get this app and support the development of this. I can't wait for updates and new apps that I'm sure you have already envisioned. Everyone should check it out. You can just go for yourself! (~);} 💀
Poor Performance. Performance needs major optimization. The framerate frequently dips far too low, and there is occasional vertical lines of white snow / static.
The functionality is there. It's fun to play with in the moments it's running at a high framerate. But the performance and stability needs a lot of work.
Good performance for me. Contrary to another review Im getting excellent performance in this app with my Quest 2. Is that reviewer useing a Quest 1 ?Some very ocassional faint vertical lines. I have been using the PC version for a while and find this an excellent port.
So exciting to be able to throw on some headphones and listen to ambient while playing with particles. The built in sound effects are great if you wish to sit with those too.
Given there are so many options available for scenes it might be good in future update to be able to save and delete scenes and toggle through them with a button press. One thing I would like to be able to do is make particles smaller for aesthetics. There seem to be sliders to do this but they do not work ..is that a current limitation or a bug.
All in all fantastic to have this app on standalone VR. Look foreward to future updates.
