Keep a cool head and your best judgment. Use your axe and chop down some trees while avoiding branches. It sounds simple enough, but that doesn't mean it's an easy task. Set records and unlock new tools - axes, machetes, and hammers, which are not only stylish but also give you some special bonus. Become a true champion!
-easy to learn, hard to master -4 maps (autumn, winter, spring, halloween) -15 levels campaign -shop and use new unique tools axes (stone age axe, tomahawk, bat) machetes (futuristic, viking, candy) hammers (meat hammer, shark, thor) -compete with others and beat the record on the global leaderboard -achievements -tons of fun
Some quirks hold it back. Great games get you in "the zone" with a flow that you can tune out to and just keep going.
This game seems to want to break the flow every few seconds with stuff that takes you out of the zone.
Examples
The direction you have to chop each block is determined by RNG. So you don't just back-n-forth with the axe. You double swing some sides, then next side has to go other direction. But, you double tapped too fast and didnt follow through with the 2nd swing. So, you have to stop, and move the axe to rhe other side to start swinging again.
They introduce tree limbs and the machete eventually, and they jusy become an, annoyance that ruins the flow of chopping the tree. The machete is almost useless, as the axe can whack limbs, too. So, the machete is just used for a few limbs on your non-axe side. But, again, it causes your brain to get out of the chopping zone.
The music speeds up for no reason as the level progresses. This becomes noticeable, and, again, takes you out of the zone. Because now your brain shifts from zoning out to chopping to "omg beat the clock!" It's just unnecessary.
The tree resets its distance from you every round, and sometimes repositions itself some place around you. I have a fan that blows on me while I play. I face the fan when starting to play. By the time I'm done playing, the fan is blowing on my side. And, I have to use the button to syep forward each roind to get back to my comforrt zone, bc game doesnt want to remember it between rounds.
When I started the game today, rhe hands were tilted down like they were broken at the wrist. This made the axe and machete get held awkwardly. I quit and restarted. Hands still mucked up. So it's stuck like that.
There's "upgrades" to buy, but no explanation what, they do other than cosmetic.
One level starts with a dynamite you have to push off. I insta died several times even though I was doing it right. I thoight maybe it was the axe i was using, since it had a pointy bit on the back. Switch to starter axe. Still blew up twice. Then it finally worked right.
It's an interesting game that just has odd design decisions that take me out of the zone. So, I eventually quit after 5 minutes and go play, something else.
Alot of depth for the price! Fun game, lots of features. I have trouble getting into a flow with the machete since you need to reach across your body at times. Would love the option to dual wield axes instead to help me get into a rhythm. Overall very promising game!
Much more than meets the eye! 👍🏻. There's much more to TimbermanVR than it looks! You've got to plan, think ahead, chop, doge cuckoos, avoid bombs, and swing to the right timing to succeed in the leaderboards.
There is a campaign mode, where you play level, by level. But I particularly enjoyed the Arcade Mode, which doesn't stop until you fail or decide to stop. I went about 7 minutes in Arcade Mode on the medium level. I love that you can adjust your challenge level with there being easy, medium, hard & timberman (the most difficult). You also earn coins which you can use in the shop to upgrade and buy new tools!
I was quite surprised when checking my Fitbit, that this game brought me into the cardio zone! Working out, while you don't even realize it because you're having so much fun is always a plus for me! I absolutely recommend this game for VR users of all ages!

Very Good Game. This game is pretty good. You will build up a sweat from all the cutting especially in arcade mode. The quick nature of the game becomes entrancing. Additional unlockables are cool. Unlockables with bonuses that aren’t just cosmetic is what games should be doing as well. Only additions I’d ask for are multiplayer and a pass through mode.
Swing Chop Cut, Squirrel. TimberMan VR is a blast of arcade fun in VR. Breakout your best plaid shirt and get your axe. This is going to be some addictive score attack fun.
The game is super easy to learn, but becomes very challenging to master. Your goal is to cut down the tree with the best score possible. Sounds easy, and it is to start. Cutting down the trees takes timing and control. You will have branches to remove, that could hold a negative or positive surprise to your score and health. You have to cut the tree down by the direction shown, get past bombs, plate mail protecting the tree, cuckoo clock and much more.
The angle and direction of your swing matters, and can get mind boggling at times. What started off as simple quickly becomes struggling fun. The game features arcade mode, where you play until you run out of health, and a campaign mode with 15 levels to complete. Which ever mode you play, you want to rank up a great score and make some credits. You can then spend your credits on new axes, blades and shirts. There are lots of items to unlock to keep you playing. There are standard lumberjack tools, caveman tools, and amazing looking medieval tools that make you feel like you are in a Lord of the Rings movie.
This is a blast to play for new and veteran VR players. The only thing missing is multiplayer or a pass the Quest feature. Over all this game was loads of fun to play and is easy to jump in and out of. If you are looking for good arcade fun, that you can easily play, this game is it.
