One hundred years ago the Federation Galactica fell in a great calamity.
The sentient races of the galaxy parted ways, and petty warlords took control of the great hyperspace gates.
Now your world is dying. Invaders from the Outer Rim have devastated the last of the frontier outposts. You must find the last survivors of Fleet Command and liberate your sector.
MOTION CONTROLS Rogue Stargun features the most immersive virtual cockpit ever developed, with virtual hands for interacting with cockpit controls such as the flight stick, targeting system, reactor core, and even swappable weapons.
SINGLE PLAYER CAMPAIGN With over 24 missions, you will be flying through some of the most varied environments yet seen in a VR-first starfighter sim. Zip through canyons to take down enemy missile batteries, fly under the shields of enemy capital ships to take down their guns, bomb enemy mechanized ground walkers on an icy world, perform a daring raid on a space pirate den -- the variety is endless.
UNIQUE STARFIGHTERS Do you go with the slow but heavily armored Tornado with its adjustable bombing sight and rear turret or the fast but lightly armored Meteor with its twin flak cannons and secret "rear fuel dump blaster"? There are 5 unique ships in this game, each with their own surprises. Each fighter is additionally equipped with a secondary swappable weapon, with over 50 such unique weapons that can be picked up from powerups, making every single playthrough a unique experience!
Unmatched level of immersion. There's no other game I have found that runs on the Quest 2 that has this level of immersion. Most VR starfighter games just have VR bits tacked on where you still use a gamepad. Most flying games that can run on the Quest 2 have maybe 4-8 enemies max on the screen at any given time and every mission is just a repeat of the last one. This game takes the virtual cockpit idea you find in games like UltraWings to the next level and then throws you into massive fleet battles in a multi-hour single player campaign, all running smoothly on the Quest 2 and above. And the combat is varied with escort missions, assassinations, fleet combat, and bombing missions. There are dozens of powerups that completely change your ship weapons. Even Star Wars Squadrons cut land based missions from their game. In Rogue Stargun, by the final 3 levels, you will be zipping through canyons dodging enemy missiles while directing mechanized ground forces towards the enemy stronghold. There is no other VR experience like it on any platform!
Fun Little Indie Title. If you like starfighter type games, you may well like this game. Lots of ships, power ups, and enemies.
The game starts off with getting you used to the mechanics, then it kicks off with big space battles. You can expect to get 8-10 hours of content at a fair asking price.
Solo dev with a full-time job has done well so far. He is constantly updating the game, and there is more to come. You can check my gameplay on Yoututube under @indievr
Arcade Awesomeness. If you can say it about any VR game, this feels "old-school". First time in the cockpit reminded my of X-Wing and TIE-fighter on DOS/Windows. Great action, easy to understand controls.
The whole experience just reminds me of space games of old, but now with full immersion in VR. I was a big fan of X-Wing vs TIE-Figher back in the day, and this keeps reminding me of the best bits of that. It runs well on my Quest 2. The graphics aren't UE5, but to me they look like they are SUPPOSED to look. It wouldn't look "right", if it was the latest fancy graphics.
The UI is very easy to use. I figured it out in about two minutes without even realizing there were tutorials... That said, the tutorials themselves were very well put together. They get right into the point, and tell you exactly how you do what you need to do. You'll be flying in just a couple of minutes.
The missions are short, so you'll never need to stay in-game for hours on end. It's easy to pick up and play a mission or two when you have time, then just put the game away. There's no 30min non-skippable tutorials without saving, etc. It's just a simple pick up a mission and shoot bad guys. I really liked that.
The flight model is arcade and too sim-ish, if you know what I mean. It's actually refreshing to play a game that's meant primarily for having fun and shooting bad guys in a space ship, and less about micro-managing twelve thousand buttons. I mean I like that too, but that's a different experience.
All in all, I will be returning to this game over and over again, which can't be said about many current games on the market.
Great Game 🙌. This game is very promising need a few little tweaks but the dev knows that.
For a solo dev that’s put this together on his own and to boot it not his “day job” wow he done a superb job!
The cockpit is amazing really immersive, I’ve found myself getting a little lost a few times as I feel the navigation needs more visual pointers for the pilot other than that I’m loving it, graphics are great on the Quest 3 and can see hours of fun in this game.
Promising!! An excellent start, with good overall mechanics that work with the medium.
DEVELOPER, PLEASE: in future updates, let us customize the flight controls! I'd really like to be able to put Roll on the virtual flight stick, and move Yaw to thumb stick controls. Yaw-on-the-stick is really messing with all might flight instincts! Having vertical displacement thrusters would also be appreciated (6DoF, after all), but I'll take whatever I can get.
A little gem! It's a fun and cool little vr-space shooter. Varied missions, lots of ships and weapons and even some nice ship management! The graphics fits the game well.
Well worth the price if you wanna fly around in space!
Really fun starfighter! Incredible that one guy made this. Runs really smooth and the awesome cockpit controls make you feel like you’re in your own starfighter. Can’t wait to see what else this guy cooks up!
