Gladius is an immersive VR sword fighting game set in ancient Rome. As a gladiator, you will choose your weapons, train against different enemies, and finally fight for your freedom in epic battles against the mightiest warriors of the ancient world. Win the crowd and you will win your freedom!
There are 4 different sections: 1) The Games: Survive for 7 days in the glorious Colosseum fighting the most formidable enemies in a variety of themed stages (Egyptian Temple, Naval battle, Maze, …). 2) Arena: Compete on the global leaderboards on 5 different challenges (endless, weapon master, bridge defense, market and chariots) and become the best gladiator in all of them. 3) Training: Completely customizable game mode where you can choose weapons, enemies, and duration of the game. Players can fight solo or in teams with other NPCs. 4) Community mods: Play scores of community created mods, from deadly beach ball guns and giant spoons, to ancient pyramid reconstructions or forge arenas.
Great Sword Game (READ). Gladius is super fun to play but it lacks in realism and mechanics. The characters are sometimes able to withstand several fatal attacks. The options for weapons is quite small but I hope more mod’s come out for this map.
Not enough maps. I like the game a lot but I stopped playing after one week because I had finished all the content in the game. It has potential but compared to a game like Blade & Sorcery it doesn’t even compete.
I really like this game and I think there is so much potential for it. Also multiplayer would be fun.
Great fun! I wanted a gladiator game and this looks great! Good graphics, physics and FUN! Some aspects might be improved such as the crowd, but in general is great. Please keep it updated! Highly recommended. Thanks!
i tried the alpha and there was a clear improvement, that's all I can say this game is becoming really very very good, the sensations are better than those experienced in blade and sorcery even if they are different games, I much prefer this to blade and sorcery

Update: physics still needs to be improved, because sometimes gladiators rotate 360 degrees on themselves when pierced by the sword, or make unnatural movements --
his power is what it stands for: gladiators and fighting, graphically it is good but technically influenced by animations which are almost as good but not as good as they should, which have not improved during development and I don't think they will improve, battle talent goes a long way road, much better as animations, but also as graphics, not to mention combat physics and it's still free! this game is paid and the developer aimed to add a lot of content, but left the game engine and animations not perfectly in place. - there are wonderful things like the great colosseum but that leave you disappointed when you realize that the audience is 2d, you would have to invent something to make it better. occasionally gladiators perform strange unnatural rotations when shot. the tigers still have something to improve in their movements. all the others added later (mummies, skeletons, etc.) better not to talk about it because it would have been better not to put them, they are full of defects and it will take a long time to make them perfect, and I don't think it will ever happen. I think this one had to specialize as a fighting game with impeccable graphics and physics and instead took the path of multiple contents while remaining technically raw in the heart, but going to make happy the multitude of users who asked for these contents and to whom the graphic perfection or technique doesn't matter
Just perfect. I was in social studies in 7th period and I was wondering why we had to learn abt Greece and Rome. Then I got home and was scrolling on my phone to find an ancient Rome game. This has helped me learn things about the Gladiators and the colisseum.
Very good game. Just bought a quest 2 and this is the first game I bought.. can play it for hours, would love to see pvp/coop modes though and more weapons added like maybe a pike or spear

Chooses Realism Over Fun. It's the arena combat of Gorn crossed with Blade and Sorcery's realism. Unfortunately, it's that Blade abd Sorcery realism that bogs it down.
The graphics, while nice (some of the better fresnel lighting I've seen in vr games) cause stutters during combat due to blood. So, you have to turn off those extras to make it run smooth. No biggie. Game is still in development. They can optimize that later.
Buy, the game just sort of feels awkward to play. You can choose hand locomotuon like Gorn. But, you move at a snail's pace with it compared to Gorn.
The realism of the game means weapons have weight, but, like Blade and Sorcery, that means the weapon is falling behind your hand movement. You don't realize this until you're playing for a bit and your brain goes "I know where my hand is, and I should have already hit that guy. Why is there a slight delay?" So, that takes getting used to.
The combat feels wonky, as hits don't always regisyer. Stabs register more than swings. I slashed at a guys bare thighs. Didn't register. Apparently he has thighs of steel. But, I stab him in his, leatger armored chest, abd that takes him down.
Unfortunately, devs decided that stabbing is too easy, so tge crowd doesn't like that much. What they wabt is dismemberment and decapitation. But, slashes barely register, especually when hitting armor. So, you will rarely hit, let alone dismember, an opponent.
So, combat devilves into yoi just going around stabbing everyone in order to keep pace with the enemies.
But their hits register on you. You can block with your weapon or shield. But, like Gorn, they made the weird decisiin for your shiekd to break after like 5 hits. So, you're stuck trying to find one or dual weild.
You're supposed to be able to pickup weapons, from downed foes, but I couldn't seem to make that, happen. You use a "use the force" pull to get a weapon near you. But dead opponents seemed to have a death grip on them.
You have 3 holsters, one back and two on hips. These are implements way better than blaade and sorcery, so you can sheathe and pull weapons easily. But, when you're atanding at a store clicking on menus you might accidentally pull your weapon if you have "finger trigger acts as grip" turned on.
Overall, it's an ok game, and I look forward to seeing where it goes. But, I just don't get the excitement or thrill of combat like I do with Gorn. Instead, I feel like I'm bungling around like in blade and sorcery. Games like Gorn and Thrill of the Fight prove you can be engaging and exciting. But, I feel like this game has decided realism overrides fun and excitement. I don't feel a tgrill when in the arena on this game. I feel frustration. The hands don't follow your habds. Tge weapons are sluggish. The opponents don't respond when hit unless stabbed (and stabbibg is for wimps!) It just needs work, and I'd rather they sacrifice some realism on physics and such to make the game more reponsive and engaging.
100% best Oculus Game. I can't believe the game is only $10. There is an immersive campaign that feels rewarding. It's so unique. Different weapons, objectives, enemies, challenges. Boss fights. Animals. Climbing. I cannot express enough that this is hands down the best Oculus game I've played. Besides the campaign, there is a sandbox mode with tons of different weapons and enemies. I played this game for 6 hours yesterday, and I only stopped today to write this review.
